  1. @DOS76: Correct. I just started over again and it's still not sticking the Abadox cover. Deleted all images from the NES image folder, cleaned up all images, refreshed all images, then hit "Download Metadata and Images". For Abadox, the only thing that it downloaded was the clear logo. I click Edit, Download Images, everything is checked except the clear logo... they download, I hit ok, no change. Click edit... still only has the clear logo in there. Look in the image folder and what was downloaded and checked off is in there, but not showing up in LaunchBox. Keep in mind this is only one game... who knows how many are like this. In fact the first game on the list didn't download any of the images until i click Edit and do it manually ('89 Dennou Kyuusei Uranai). But, at least that one works when I do. @VACRMH: I have the Japan and USA No-Intro Roms. The Database named them both Abadox: The Deadly Inner War. They both have the same issue.
  2. Well, it can take hours to make a good cover... or it can take one hour. It really just depends on what the cover needs and the images available that you can use. Having to manually cut things out of their background to use is what really takes a lot of time. I don't think you would get anything that looks good for $2.50 in Reddit Gold or even $2.50 PayPal. It's just not worth it to a person who makes high quality art because of the time it would take. Unless they have a personal interest and want the cover themselves too. Is there any good NES hacks that don't have covers?
  3. lordshaithis said i should have thought of that, been doing that for my ps1 rpgs haha. Managed to find a few fan made covers for hacks so far. What i'm thinking of doing is, if there's any hacks i desperately want to keep and can't find art work, i'll make a list of them then go on to the photoshop requests subreddit and pay someone some reddit gold to knock them up for me haha. Yes i really am that anal about it! How about Paypal? :)
  4. I've tried that many times. I've been doing this for a week... refreshing images, deleting images, clearing images, starting over, etc.
  5. I'm in the process of organizing a NES set but I am noticing a problem with certain games, such as Abadox and After Burner. When I click "edit" on the game, then download images... it downloads them fine, I hit "ok". Certain images won't show up that were downloaded. I click edit again and they are not there. I try multiple times and get the same thing. Then I looked in the folder and there are like 6 Abadox covers, so they were downloaded everytime but not showing up in Launchbox. Why wouldn't the game be detecting the covers or certain images? It's a No-Intro set and the names are proper. Also, when mass-downloading all of the images for every game at once, it doesn't download a lot of images for certain games and I have to do it manually for many of them.
  6. That's great you guys are gonna put a comment field for moderators. That will help a lot on both sides. The only thing I am a little confused about is what some games are considered duplicates or not. I saw one person submitted a change to delete "Street Gangs" PAL for NES as a duplicate because it's the same game as River City Ransom (USA). I know if the games have changes they should both be in the database, but what if they are basically the same game with a different name and region? I would think they should both be in the database so it matches the games accordingly in LaunchBox. The database isn't going to label Street Gangs PAL rom as River City Ransom, because I assume it tries to match via filename.
  7. There was no valid reason to reject my game entries and they were all accepted, but the one title change I have is debatable. I didn't know we were just going by box art according to the examples. I proposed changing "3D World Runner" on NES to the actual title of the game "The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner", which was only shortened on the USA cover box according to the wiki. In-game the menu has the full title. Either way, the current title is still incorrect as it should be "3-D WorldRunner", not 3D World Runner. In your case it would really help to if we had the "Note to Moderators" field option for making changes, so you can explain to people the change before they blindly reject it.
  8. I think we need to be more strict who can moderate things. Maybe after 300-500 accepted entries or something, you are allowed to moderate. As it is right now it's 25, I think? That's only 2 or 3 games I believe. Anyone can do that, but I don't think just anyone should moderate. I haven't had anything rejected yet, but I have a few games where someone tried to reject it when it shouldn't have been. I am also seeing too many things get accepted that should have gotten rejected. So, I'm sure too many things get rejected that should have gotten accepted as well. I would also like to see an option to moderate by platform for people who have more knowledge about certain platforms, they can stick to moderating those. Maybe that is part of the problem, I don't know. But one thing that would help a lot is field to type a NOTE to the moderator explaining the change. EDIT: Where is the guidelines by the way? I can't seem to find it. EDIT 2: Also, I am seeing way too many entries for someone trying to replace cover art that is in worse quality than what they want to replace. Maybe it's all one or two people, I don't know but I fear these things will get accepted and have gotten accepted.
  9. I'll try a few experiments like adding the rom hack(s) in my LaunchBox collection and seeing if it only has issues when you don't have the hack. Not sure how we would perfect matching hacks in the database, other than maybe having them go off of the GoodSet filename since that set does hacks. Odd that one person so far has rejected two of my games when they are clearly missing and causing the actual roms to be labeled as their sequels. Thanks for the info. I'll submit any ideas I have to improve the database. I have a few at the moment. Maybe a section to put a Note to the moderator and save them some time by explaining something. Like one of my game entries can very easily be mistaken for another game in the database. It only has one letter different in the game title. I look forward to helping out with moderation, though.
  10. How do I check what's in the queue for a platform, awaiting moderation? It takes 3 accepts from moderating to update the database right? Too late for waiting, though. I did everything except 2 games left at the moment... Anyhow, How would I fix something like this on the database? I use No-Intro and Redump, but I have one Famicom rom that I noticed that is being labeled as a totally different game, yet both games are on the database. The title of the no-intro nes rom file is nowhere near the title of the game it is labeled. This might be a special case, as the game it's labeled as is a hack. Not that it doesn't deserve to be in the database as it's one of the good hacks. But, I am trying to understand why it is being labeled as this game. Another thing to note is I don't have the hack imported into LaunchBox yet. Does the database read the title of the game in the database and match by filename?
  11. Alright sounds good, thanks man. One last thing, sorry... I'm not seeing how to add a game? One that is labeled wrong in LaunchBox is missing from both Famicom and NES lists in gamesdb. I assume that's why in LaunchBox it's incorrectly labeled as the sequel.
  12. I am confused as to what belongs in Nintendo Famicom vs. Nintendo Enterainment System because I see Famicom games in the NES section, and the Famicom section is only one page. EDIT: I guess it's Japanese exclusives in the Famicom section only?
  13. Thanks Jason. I made an account a few days ago, but missed buttons where you edit fields. Doh!
  14. Where do I submit incorrect info for NES metadata? I found some games that were labeled wrong.
  15. Well thanks for the info. I guess I'll assume it's just because both games are titled Airwolf, even though they are different filenames and regions.
  16. Are you saying Launchbox thinks that it's still imported even though I deleted it? If so, is there a way to clear games that were deleted? I'm deleting a bunch right now and I want to make sure I do it properly, or the best way.
  17. I am trying to cleanup my NES roms by deleting duplicate versions and junk. I deleted Airwolf (Japan), but then realized it was not the same game as Airwolf (USA). So I keep trying to import it back into Launchbox but it just says 0 games successfully imported. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, I'm still learning the program.
  18. @lordmonkus: thanks for the .zip. That's a standalone SweetFX running through the ReShade injector, but it also gives me a black screen overlaying the emulation. I have to imagine if you tried now it would do the same. As far as windows, ReShade works fine in Windows 7 and 10 for sure. I've used it on many things. If it doesn't work on a game, it's usually just the game's fault. It wouldn't work in DX12 applications, though...and I assume not Vulkan either. @Zombeaver: I did have to put the VDP2 on, by default that setting is off. I guess I am just use to RetroArch's settings because I can remove input lag to the point where I can't notice any of it. I didn't try many games in SSF yet, since I figured they would all have the same amount of lag. I'll check a bunch out, though. I guess testing against PSX and MAME versions would be a good enough option.
  19. Oh ok. Well, I'm quite familiar with ReShade and SweetFX... but if you're using the 012 Beta R4 release of SSF it should be working. Maybe it only works with the R3 version if you are using that? I have the same settings as you, vsync off, vdp2 24mb, full compatibility.
  20. Zombeaver said 8Phantasm said I'm not using Vsync and I didn't change a bunch of settings in the emulator, if that's what you are thinking. Actually, I was thinking that not changing a "bunch of settings" was probably precisely your issue. In my experience, none of the versions run all that great with default or near default settings. SSF requires more tweaking than just about any other emulator I've ever used in order to be tolerable. But hey, if you don't want to take the time to try to fix your issue, nobody's forcing you. It's far and away the best (I would argue only, really) option currently for Saturn emulation so I'm not sure why you wouldn't, but that's your call. I'm not saying that that there's zero input lag, of course, just that it's not significantly worse than any other emulator with some tweaking. VDP2 RAM Write Timing, for example, yields a noticeable improvement in input lag and I'm almost positive that's turned off by default. With that turned on and vsync off I was just playing Metal Black without any issues. I then switched over to Retroarch Mame and played it there, with Hard GPU sync on and a frame delay of 6. There's barely any perceptible difference, if at all. Going along with what lordmonkus said, there could be game by game instances where the disparity is greater, but I think tossing SSF aside with a blanket statement of "It has atrocious input lag. Unusuable." is cutting yourself off from access to some great games unnecessarily. Well, I had Vsync off and VDP2 RAM Write Timing on but DonPachi was unplayable for me. Guardian Heroes had too much of a delay also, but I don't have a real Saturn at the moment to compare it to. If you have the best settings for SSF, I'm open to try them. I still have it installed to test games out. The input lag could be worse and varied on a per-game basis, I don't really know. I just know what I tried was not good enough for me so far. If you try researching the input lag to fix it, everyone just says it's too bad in SSF, and all I found was the vsync off and VDP2 recommendation. I'm not looking to just play something just because it's the best we got, though. I like using real hardware in cases where the emulation is not up to par. Input lag is a big deal to me, but I'll try some more games this week. I didn't like the look of either DonPachi games anyway compared to arcade so those don't even matter. @lordmunkus: Can you tell me how you got ReShade working? I get a black screen with the emulation running behind it when using latest versions of both.
  21. Oh yeah, no doubt I agree it's the best we got. I'm just really picky with input lag (amongst other things). I've heard Mednafen is workin on Saturn so I am excited waiting for that. Hopefully it blows SSF and Yaba out of the water. I didn't even consider Mess, and I haven't "messed" with it either. :p
  22. Most people know about the input lag in SSF. Maybe try testing the movement in something like DonPachi in SSF and then compare it to MAME. Of course there are some that don't notice it for various reasons. I am using the latest version. I don't need to post settings because you can't fix the input lag unless maybe that developer open-sources SSF and the core gets imported into RetroArch. I'm not using Vsync and I didn't change a bunch of settings in the emulator, if that's what you are thinking. Anyhow, I'm not looking to fix the input lag because I don't believe that it's possible. I'm looking to get ReShade working for a friend.
  23. While I don't use SSF because of the atrocious input lag... I went to make a friend a ReShade CRT preset for it and it just gives a black screen. Which version SSF and ReShade are you using?
  24. Is it possible to make a .bat file to launch BigBox.exe straight into a certain platform? For example, you run the .bat and BigBox loads up into Nintendo Entertainment System's menu, essentially skipping the platform wheel selection? Thank you.
