  1. Greetings folks, When you walk into my home office, one of the first things that'll catch your eye is my library. So far I have three 84" tall bookshelves full of books. I love books. (That's another story) So I was thinking that most of the collections that we have could easily pass as libraries. They really are in every sense a library. So I was thinking there must be some way to present our libraries. I've been fiddling with Steam and streaming Big Box Mode. It seems to work just fine and I've found a way to RDP into my server and then log out so the console is not locked. (A problem with Steam and streaming and the computer is headless) Here is the command for anyone interested. It's a desktop link that runs as administrator; "C:\Windows\System32\tscon.exe %sessionname% /dest:console" I'm wondering if anyone else has thought of displaying their libraries and how they would do it. Thanks, -Matt
  2. Greetings, So I purchased the book "1,001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die" by Tony Mott. ISBN-sumpin sumpin sumpin. I think LaunchBox would be an ideal collection for something like this. There's some good info (known as metadata for us dweebs and nerds) that would supplement anybody's library. Is there any way for the community to create and share something like this? I know one way would be to add the key value pair "1001" to the custom fields. But that seems rather pale somehow and would be difficult to share. (But I'm not 100% sure of that) What options would we have to create something like this? I'm sure from the thousands of users LaunchBox has we should be able to get nearly all those 1,001 video games. I'm looking for ideas on how to track just that. A platform perhaps? Or something else maybe? I'm open to ideas. Thanks, -Matt
  3. I'll have to say; with all the work that's going on with this I won't be surprised if your effort and name end up in the Smithsonian Archives. Well done indeed.
  4. Greetings, Sorry for posting a FR here. I'm having some problems with BitBucket. LB v7.0 Win10 It would be nice to have a some type of configurable multi-level view on the left pane; -->Computers ---->Atari ST ---->Atari XL ---->DOS -------->RPG -------->Action -------->Interactive ---->Windows ---->etc... I find it cumbersome scrolling though the games to find headers for game types. Thanks, -Matt
  5. Greetings, I'm really sorry about asking this, but I just don't seem to see where I would put requests for game contributions. I have 220 Atari ST and 75 Atari XE LB contributions that I'd like considered. If there's a sticky somewhere I'm really sorry if I missed it. I'm a noob. Be gentle. Thanks, -Matt
  6. Greetings, I created a Powershell script that renames and copies image files to a staging directory for eXoDOS games. After which a user would copy the files to the Box-Front of the Platform directory and then refresh from the tools menu. My testing shows that it works for most of the games. Although you'll need to go through and massage the ones that don't quite work but are available. Not too many as far as I can tell. The MEAGRE application works fine to copy the game data to LB - and I truly thank the developer for doing that - however the image copy doesn't work. I was wondering if something like this would be useful to the community. My concern of course is the need for some technical ability to run Powershell on your PC. Thanks, -Matt
  7. Ok, so I've been working on a Powershell script that would apply existing eXoDos images that MEAGRE doesn't work with. If you think this would be a benefit to the community I'll finish it, clean it up, comment it and send it to your for review if you like. Something to pass on if you think there's value.
  8. That's really good news. I guess I'll pull that $50 note out of my wallet now...
  9. Greetings, I'm evaluating moving from D-Fend 1.4.4 to LaunchBox/BigBox to manage all my games. With my recent discovery of eXoDOS/Win3Xo game management is much more involved now. I found the threads where MEAGRE exports data to LB and updates images. However, that info is for LB version 5.x. I currently have 6.2 and the method outlined in the specific thread does not work. Since the "LaunchBox.xml" file no longer exists and appears to be replaced by "settings.xml" in the data folder, the method above won't work. I did find a workaround where I create a single xml file and point MEAGRE to that. It creates two new Platforms - DOS and PC Loader - and all the files and metadata are imported correctly. It seems though that there's no way to get the images added except to manually copy them. So I guess there are a few ways to do this; 1. Have LB 5.x available for d/l for users that need to export 6,000+ records from MEAGRE and use the above method. 2. After the successful export upgrade to the latest and greatest version. 3. Work with LB support to get this working for version 6.x 4. ...or create a Powershell script that will scrap and create the necessary image files. I'm hoping that perhaps I just missed something and there's an easy way to get the images copied to LB. I really like this application. However, I'm not quite ready to plunk down half a c note if it's going to require a lot of work for me. I appreciate any constructive feedback about this. Thanks, -Matt
