  1. Dude this is amazing, let me know if there is anyway I can help, I could do a transparent blank cassette tape box for cassette inlays, or well just about any kind of media that might be useful, just let me know.
  2. Yeah its all very random, i cant speculate on reason as have no idea how the server is setup :-/ Also David Eddings FTW
  3. Last 2 days, every time Ive tried to "accept" a change it gives me an "internal server error", SKIP works and GAME ALREADY EXISTS "please add reason" seens to work .... Is it just due to ongoing database changes as well?
  4. Right then, i'll do a few matching boxes and carts.
  5. ZX Spectrum, Coomodore 64s main rival Not yet, idea only came to me 48 hours ago so disc and tape are it so far You know the best way of importing blender into unity I guess, so something untextured and easy to UV unwrap would be good for you I guess. LetsI see what i model today, youve given me ideas.
  6. You did that today @Izegod, marvelous. I made a tape Trying to give myself a time limit of a model a day. Still haven't decided on tomorrows model, any suggestions? (long as its doable in a day lol)
  7. Sounds like a plan, im trying not to waste my spare time with playing games....but I like retro games so why not combine the two, was in need of some inspiration to keep me Blendering, was in danger of giving up in defeat, Im having fun with it again now
  8. Good work m8, how long youve been using unity? I only started Blender in October, ive got the basics down and can "sometimes" make realistic textures lol but getting it to look "just right" can be a chore. Today I shall attempt to model a passable cassette , if it works out I may start on some cartridges, if you think any of the models turn out to be useable @Izegod let me know, happy to pass them onto you to play with if they turn out any good.
  9. Dont foirget tapes, with animated cogs turning......I can dream
  10. Some great stuff on that gbatemp link, i'll keep it bookmarked as all those can be easily cropped to supply missing back/front covers for the gamesdb if needed, plus from certain angles they would be fine for a render or 2 Just to be awkward though the category I'm currently obsessing over is the Atari 8 bit category and they don't include those, to be fair they do do all the earlier Atari cart games though Anyway a quick test of my floppy model, could do with some better texturing but not too bad for an initial test I reckon.
  11. Hey dude, today for something to do I started modelling a 5.25" floppy then I decided I needed a box for it to sit on. Trying to find box sides for old atari 8 bit/msdos era game boxes using web resources alone has proven impossible so far. Found a few Amiga boxes scanned from all 6 sides but not 5.25" era games which Im currently aiming at. Have even asked on an Atari 8 bit users forum to see if anyone with an original box or 3 could scan/photo all 6 sides for me, we shall see what happens. This is as far as Ive got lol But altimately fully rotatable retro boxes/carts/floppies/cassettes in Launchbox would be very cool
  12. I notice if I take a break from moderating the games, when I come back its still showing the last game showed from the previous moderating session. What happens if someone never logs back in, does it get reallocated to someone else after a set time or does it currently get "stuck"?
  13. Its not a total waste of bandwidth though, Ive younger children and a properly configured, with artwork and looking good Launchbox does make them want to play on it. My 4 year olds favorite system is Genesis, older kids more into Gamecube/Wii emulation which i don't actually have on my own machine, probably because its a clunky old laptop that barely emulates ps1 at full speed, but 16 bit and below is all good
  14. Not really lol For me its all about the nostalgia, the awesome old artwork and the history behind the systems, im a total atari 8 bit and zx spectrum, nut but honestly only rarely play the actual games.
  15. Being an 8 bit Atari fan I have found the Atari XE and Atari 800 sections lacking, so rather than moan about it, am doing my best to improve the situation. So far Ive managed to upload data for *I think* all Atari XEGS specific carts and am back to working on the multiple of tape/disc games.......Using the TOSEC as a base Ive worked my way through A and if i can find box art and a good description Ive added it. Anyway onto B, if anyone else fancies helping me out, pick a letter so we don't overlap
  16. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/issues?status=new&status=open the issue has been put on the issues tracker so im sure itll get worked on or at least we'll get a status update eventually.
  17. On multiple occasions now Ive hit the return key at the wrong time and ended up submitting games Ive only half filled out the info for. I have images and links at the ready but oops! Ive hit enter and now its in the queue for submission. Being able to either cancel or edit and resubmit would be very useful feature. At least allow it to be edited while its still on 0 approve/disapprove.
  18. Well if you have the internet speed and harddrive space seeing as its been 6 years id start again I think we cant link sites here I think but finding the latest set is but a google search away.
  19. The main problem I think your encountering is your mame roms by the sound of it are 6 years old, and for them to work properly they need to match mame versions, eg if your mame roms were originally for (for example mame 0.95) unless you were using a 0.95 emulator you would get multiple errors like you are getting. To add to the complication retroarch has different mame cores that match different mame versions (for instance the mame2014 core matches mame version 0.159). Did your discs tell you what version of mame they were for or did they include a version of mame already on them? If so, I think your easiest solution would be to just find the matching mame.exe version that goes with the version listed on the disc, you can still use launchbox with mame it doesnt have to be retroarch. If no version info came with your discs, im afraid your best bet would be to rebuild your rom set and thats a topic all of its own.

    Altirra help?

Ok my bad, was a coincidence, i mentioned altirra on the x68000 tutorial youtube video put 2 and 2 together and made 6 lol Sorry. Might have helped if i spotted thread date before posting, doh!

    Altirra help?

Ive started doing the same, Ive got the tosec of the atr games scanned in and am still working through A, maybe we she colaborate so we dont repeat ourselves, shall we split the alphabet up Oh and this thread is all my fault anyway, that comment mentioning altirra on the x68000 youtube video was me lol
  22. Ha, I just submitted the same game twice by mistake (its been a long day lol) and the option to delete the partially complete submission would be grand
  23. To be honest, I shall research the topic more but I actually think you may be able to just merge the categories, the XE computers were 99% backwards compatible with the XL range and even the XE exclusives were runnable on the xl range in some way according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Atari_XEGS_games I owned an Atari 65XE back in the day with a 1050 floppy drive (which originally was for the XL range) and it literally ran every XL program I tried at the time. TL;DR The atari 800 and atari xe cats can probably be merged. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_8-bit_family#Tramiel_era:_XE_series UPDATE:- It looks like the Atari XE section is about 70% XE Carts (which id imagine would be the correct use of the catagory) but a good 30% should really belong in the Atari 800 catagory.
  24. Hi again Well Ive started to contribute to the database (cracking on with atari 8 bit xl/xe games that I can find info for), have added a few games, been a good 12 hours (i know, i should have more patience) and have had a grand total of one approval. Whats the average turnaround in days once a game has been submitted? Alternatively, maybe your swamped and literally have 100s/1000s? of submissions to go through a day (ive no idea) if so that's fine, I have time to spare so the quicker i can (hopefully) get approved as a moderator of the gamesdb the quicker I can help out approving or rejecting other peoples submissions
  25. This may be the wrong place to post this, so if so please move or delete topic as appropriate. So I have the atari 8 bit tosec and am scanning in all the 8 bit computer games that are in .ATR format. The problem is the tosec lumps them in all together (both XE and XL games) but launchbox contains a database scraper for "Atari 800" and "Atari XE". Can I scrape the same collection twice so it adds the missing artwork that may be in the "XE" cat and not the "Atari 800" cat, can two scrapers be used for 1 platform entry? If not should i grab a couple of DATs from somewhere and rebuild the Atari 800 and Atari XE as separate sets? Sorry to bother you all.
