How can i add a frame around my wheel image so it is easy to identify which one is selected. Just like the default theme has.

Trying to add a border around my wheel images that highlights the selected item. I have seen this done in several themes, but have no clue any help would be appreciated. ( Would be great to change color of border and have it snap to different size images).. Thanks
