You can either go to the left sidebar right click and delete or through windows go to Launchbox/Data/Playlist and delete the xml file (Launchbox needs to be closed when doing this).

Thanks, that worked...knew there should be a playlist folder somewhere in there

To not display the Playlists, just delete them. When you import MAME games again, uncheck the playlist box so it doesn't generate.

As for the favorites, I don't recall you being able to show favorites by them selves. Favorites show up at the start of each platform, and if you view all games they'll all show up at the start. There should be a "View Favorites" option in the menu though, so you should certainly add a BitBucket ticket for that. Click Issues/Requests at the top.

No, unfortunately I also don't think that is possible. How the Genre menu works is how it works currently. You could also request this addition in a separate ticket on the BitBucket as well.

Can't figure out how to delete playlists

  3. I don't want all those premade playlists to show on wheel such as Atari's Greatest Hits, Capcom, etc  Where is the setting to not show those?

& How can i have my favorites menu to be selected from wheel, I only seem to see the option to list favorites in LB & not BB

& finally genres, is it possible to have a genre menu on wheel & once selected, go into sub menus for each category??

    Thanks

My guess might be drivers, but I am honestly stumped if it's working in LB.

All of a sudden it started working again...I tried it again later on & for some reason it let me choose 1 button for a setting, but none of the others would recognize the buttons being pressed.  So I restarted it & then it deciced to read my button input & set what I want....IDK weird, but pretty frustrating, hope this doesn't become some regular issue now

What controller are you using, and is it still selected in the Controller Menu?

Hori RAP4 , and yes it still shows up...the stick still navigates the menu, but button assignments changed on their own & I can't get it to respond to setting new ones...&this is only in Big Box..Launchbox mode works

  6. Don't know what happened, but after I added new rom directory it seems, I can't even navigate the menu the way I had it set up anymore..only the keyboard in Launchbox or MAME alone works

Buttons that I had mapped on my joystick to go back or start a game now have other commands set to them such as showing the flyer, and pulling up other parts of menu. When i go into the menu to set joystick buttons & TRY to set them back, it won't even respond to the buttons being pressed, just continues to say "press the button or back key to leave none" nothing happens

    Anyone??

  7. Ok well thats more like what i was hoping to do, so I can re-import another folder then I guess

Sure I could figure it out, just don't have the time right now & that just doesn't seem too user friendly..but if it's as simple as removing the games & re-importing another folder I should be good

You can't just set a rom folder.

Then you can do either of the things I said previously.

Sorry I'm a little confused, didn't I choose a rom folder when I 1st set it up? I selected my old Hyperspin rom folder, but I don't wanna use that anymore..are you saying I can't just delete/remove the old folder & set another? Be pretty counterintuitive to not be able to do something simple as that...I don't have any experience using Notepad ++ or editing .xml files either & don't rly wanna have to  take the time to learn new apps & methods just to choose where my games are on my hard drive

    You have 2 options.

You can either remove your games from LB without deleting them from the hard drive and then re-import your games but you don't have to re scrape all the media files since those will still be in their respective folders.

The other option if you are using the exact same rom set just in a different location is to use notepad++ to edit the .xml for the platform. Use the find and replace all to replace the old path with the new one.

Your playlist should still be intact since those xml files contain no path data whatsoever.

Yea if I wanted to just delete the old folder I was using & make a new subfolder folder within Launchbox's folders for my new roms, how would I add it? Last I checked I couln't figure out how to set a directory for roms, think only option I saw was adding individual rom files

  10. What's the easiest way to do this? My old MAME roms, half of them didn't work with current version of MAME I started using in Launchbox...now I have the same set in 0.185 & want to just use a folder in Launchbox to load them from (My old roms were stlll in Hyperspin folders & I originally set up Launchbox to use that location

Also, will I lose all playlist info once I do this...being the filenames are same I would think not, but little worried

    Thanks in advance

For BigBox menu sounds if you want to add your own sounds there's no need to replace existing stuff in the LaunchBox Sounds folder.
You can add as many Sound Packs as you wish and select the one to use in BigBox.

Just add a new subfolder to the LaunchBox Sounds folder, give it a name and put your 4 sound files into it. The sound files naming is Back, Move, Select, Startup.
Then in BigBox go to Options, Sound and select your Sound Pack.

    Game background music is different.
These files go in the LaunchBox Music folder and have ther own settings in BigBox Options Sound.

    Thanks gonna try that soon

People make sound packs for BigBox you just replace the files in the sounds folder with your sounds name them the same as what is in the file currently. The ones I have are .wav I don't know if that is required or not.

Thanks, was thinking I might be able to just find the sounds folder & swap em out with whatever I want..guess I have to rename once I do that too

  13. [UPDATE: Nevermind, Turns out I actually d/led a roms list from the site, not the actual roms, but I THINK I got it now]

One more thing & pls forgive me if mentioning this here is discouraged

Much to my dismay, turns out only about 1 out of 5 of my old MAME roms from a few years ago (can't even remember the version) are working

I know a place to get a set of the current .185, but the file is a "torrentzip" file & not an ordinary torrent file I'm used to. I cannot figure out how to open it, tried the torrentzip program from their official website too & nothing seems to happen when I try to run it

Thanks in advance & once again I hope this isn't an inappropriate question. Not asking where to get roms, which I know is frowned upon in certain forums..I already do know where just don't understand the format haha

  14. Loving Big Box for use with MAME so far and appreciate all the time taken to answer my questions.  Have a couple more, and sure they won't be the last lol :

    1. How can I see my favorites menu in Big Box? I've only figured out how to view it in Launchbox. I set my playlists to show in platform view which I have as default. There is an "arcade" on the wheel to select all my games, which is cool, but be nice to have my favorites show up.

    2. Also, not incredibly important but how can I hide the "collections" (from Atari, Sega, etc) that show up?   They never did originally on the wheel but now they do, maybe some setting I switched?

    3. My high scores aren't saving. Pretty sure this is MAME related & not Launchbox but would really like to have records saved for all games, if someone can shed some light on how to do this would be awesome

    4. Better alternatives to default backgrounds for games? Seems like it's pretty much stretching random parts of the flyers & most of em look HORRIBLE as far as resolution, bluriness, jagged edges on fonts, etc...I still have all my Hyperspin themes, which looked decent & was hoping to be able to use them with Launchbox for backgrounds, but then realized they were animated? & are zip files with multiple images in each zip that overlayed with eachother.  Anyway I can convert those to static images to use????

5.Adding my own sound effects for the menu & music to play in backround/ start up? I've asked this already but no one has yet to reply..not the biggest deal but would be cool & have a feeling this might be possible??

    Big thanks in advance

  15. Figured it out, They appeared after I went to options &hit refresh all images

Now  I can't figure out how to use clear logos for the games inside the playlist menus:( When I click on the playlist names, the wheel comes up with the clear logos, but the 1st menu shows the "box art"/flyers, I would rather have both show the clear logos I chose (arcade marquees)

When adding images to your playlist, just like with a game or a platform, right above the image in the window is some text about what it is. You click the text and change it to the category you want depending on the image you've added.

That isn't working is what I'm saying.  I selected one image to be the fanart & it works & shows in the background, but the image I selected for clear logo doesn't...The playlist just has regular text in the wheel, not the logo I chose

  17. 41 minutes ago, Rincewind said:

Wheels use the 'Clear Logos' so you could replace the images in the folder with the ones you wish to use instead and the fact the file names match your ROMs already is great, I would how ever make a backup of your clear logos as you might decide to use them instead in the future.

As with the custom backgrounds you could try adding a image to the 'Fan Art' folder. I've not tryed this so maybe someone that has could let you know as you may need to turn off / on something in the options

Thanks...Yea I copied all the marquee images into clear art folder which were all titled the same as corresponding rom, hit refresh all & they're all there it looks like...SO relieved all that time I spent wasn't put to waste & I didn't have to individually edit every wheel image.

Does having alot of large images hang the wheel up? Its seems alot smoother than Hyperspin, but thinking if I resize all the marquee images I'm now using it could help...Was scrolling quicker with the original clear logos

Simply find a game you want and right click it then Add to playlist > New Playlist. That will open up a window where you can set things for that playlist but once done you should now have a playlist containing that game. From there you can go through your games and right click each one and add them to your playlist you made.

Thanks alot...started making some, set the background..how do I add the art for the logo on the wheel? Looks like I set an image as a "clear logo" but my playlist is just plain text on the wheel

  19. Brand new to Launchbox/Big Box, only planning to use it for MAME at this point

From what i understand this is a feature now? I would like to create custom playlists based on old arcades I went to when young, and only add the games I remember them having there to select from within them...and custom background images/logos for them if possible. If someone can elaborate on this for me I'd really appreciate it

    Thanks

    [UPDATE]:

Figured it out now & got the images to show after I went to options &hit refresh

Now  I can't figure out how to use clear logos for the games inside the playlist menus though:( When I click on the playlist names, the wheel comes up with the clear logos, but the 1st menu shows the "box art"/flyers, I would rather have both show the clear logos I chose (arcade marquees)

  20. Hello

Just bought Big Box, as of now only intend it for MAME...I put a painful amount of time into setting up Hyperspin a couple years ago, but never really wound up using it..One thing I did was download & use marquee images for all my games for the wheel..Guessing this is possible in Launchbox? Can someone tell me the easiest way to do this? From what I remember I named them all the same filename as the roms..if that's the case, would there be an easy way to have Launchbox recognize them all instead of adding each individual one to folders?, which I imagine would be a way to do so.

Also how would I choose custom background images when scrolling through games? I notice alot are just zoomed in parts of flyers & whatnot with real blocky text/low res (even after selecting the higher res option I believe I saw)

    Thanks in advance
