Hey Stevaside, thanks- Always appreciated.  What I've resorted to out of desperation is to start doing FP screenshots and screen caps... painful but I might work on it when time permits... having the time is the biggest challenge.. are there any tutorials known  to help get visual pinball working with  Launch box?  Thanks

Not rly many tutorials from what i remember, but this member's advice made it easy to run...just enter in what he did in the screenshot in this thread, in the edit details tab &  u should be good for VP to run ur games right from the wheel with no BS. Never even needed Rocket Launcher after all

All I need now is to figure out how to use Joy 2 Key to run & use my joystick to control VP when I start it...setting all controls alone work well with the joystick alone, but not nudge which is crucial...apparently nudge can only be set to an analogue stick within VP, which my arcade stick is not..

And as far as the images, if u want them I will try to make a RAR with them all by later next week to send u

  2. I have the backglass images for all pinball tables I have set as the fanart backgrounds for when I scroll thru my game list....

Any way to have the whole image shown or centered instead of having them cropped to fill the screen?

    Thankis

I  enjoy Future Pinball  tables as well thanks to the excellent modified launch executable posted by one of the members and it works very well with Launchbox. I agree there has not been as much focus on Pinball emulation. I would hope its possible in near future to see  better direct integration with both Future Pinball and Visual pinball, with full support for metadata. Right now I'm just using a generic box cover image for my box art.... I guess It's more up to the community to grow this and build a following for it...

I have a couple hundred backglass & cabinet images I spent a painful amount of time gathering from the web, If you or anyone else would like em, I could make a d/l link when I get some time..there was also a site I came across with tons of wheel art I could try to find again

This is my Setting for Visual pinball

    VP.PNG

NOO WAYYY.....Just entered that in & tried a couple tables in VP9 & seemed they opened right up...well, one I haven't played yet still showed that annoying "Do you legally own this table" popup that I still had to use the mouse for, but that was it..Seems once u play a game this doesn't show anymore, wish there was a way to disable that msg altogether...anyways THANKS SOOOOO much, never imagined it would be as easy as filling in that section in the edit emulator menu

Visual Pinball and Future pinball were both easy.

path of your Visual Pinball exe and    /play "[romfilename]"

This will launch the Visual Pinball game.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will take a look at my setup when i get home and see if i can give you more instructions if the above doesn't work for you.

So enter that in the custom command line parameter box of each individual game you're saying should get it to work? If so that'd be very time consuming, but better than nothing I suppose

EDIT: Tried this with a couple games in the command line parameter box under the emulation tab, and not working..keep getting "error loading" message when I click the games

I am running visual pinball  and future pinball flawlessly through LB AND BB.  Do u need help?

Future Pinball is working, because I downloaded a special version of it a member here made strictly for Launchbox so it would automatically play games...VP, no such luck..&all anyones ever told me so far was I'd have to use Rocketlauncher

I feel your frustration as getting any emulator set up can be frustrating. LB launches every emulator I have every thrown at it. Rocketlauncher is a choice and is not mandatory  to use but offers lots of benefits and features. If launchbox is a front end then rocketlauncher is the back end and works together with launchbox and other front ends, to bring these features to the table.

I think your right that pinball maybe takes a back seat to most which is shame. Is it just pinball you want set up with LB?

No I mainly use it for MAME, and with the help of some members, didn't have much trouble setting that up. Might add a console or 2 that I don't collect for IRL & I'm sure it will be pretty much the same steps so I'm not too worried

But pinball was my 2nd priority to use within LB...and from what I was told there is no choice but to use Rocketlauncher to get Visual Pinball working. In just Launchbox alone, clicking on a game in the wheel does nothing but open up the Visual Pinball app in another window...and not even the game is selected, you still have to go through VPs menu to find the game, hit play, etc.....which means putting down my arcade joystick & fooling with the keyboard again..not what i expected when I bought BB.  I mean it's pretty much pointless to use LB for VP, only function it serves is letting you look at your pinball artwork

  8. I've watched a few of the tutorials & basically gave up.  Way too frustrating & time consuming getting VP working in LB. And none of them are pinball specific...So confusing considering there are so many different versions of emulators needed for VP not to mention Future Pinball & the fact Launchbox just lumps them all together as "PINBALL"

Shouldn't have to use Rocketlauncher in the 1st place, I bought BB expecting to run games on whatever emulators I want. This kinda sucks...and I'm guessing there's so few ppl concerned with pinball out there, it's no priority to get working

  9. Future Pinball seems to work fine after using a modified .exe a member shared, but VP is hopeless. Click on a game from the wheel & all that happens is VP itself opens up.

Apparently there is some way to make it work with Rocketlauncher, but just way too complicated being there are multiple VP versions & there are just no pinball specific tutorials for RL + LB

Was expecting to load up pinball tables with ease in LB & was one of the reasons I purchased it. Be nice if it will become a feature soon.  After spending an excruciating amount of time getting all the artwork & video snaps for my 200 or so tables, I just gave up.  Can't afford to waste any more time trying to get everything to work & came to the conclusion I just have to use the VP emulators seperate to play

you can easily change the emulator for them by using ctrl+a to select all the games in that platform and then use ctrl+e to open the bulk edit wizard choose emulators from the 1st dropdown and then put in RL in the 2nd dropdown.

Ohhh ok good..thx...Guess I shoulda tried that before I posted here, but I was sure that wasn't an option I saw come up when highlighting & selecting to edit lol

  11. Was explained to me recently by some members that Visual Pinball will work within Launchbox with Rocketlauncher so in the process of trying to learn how to set it up.

From what I've gathered so far, I'd have to re-add all my VP roms into LB & then assign RL as the emulator for them...The thing is I've already spent a PAINFUL amount of time tagging all of them with the correct table name (they all came up as the filename in LB), the year of release & the manafacturer, all fields that were empty. Certainly do not want to do this again.  Any way I can keep all the info or just change the emulator they're set up to use at the moment (VP) to RL??

    Thanks

  12. Supposedly I need this to run Visual Pinball tables the right way from LB

Before I go scouring the internet, can anyone point me to some tutorials that might help me out there or  tell me the right order of steps I need to take to make this happen?...if it's not too complicated that is

    Greatly appreciate it

i use rocket launcher with my setup and it loads VP with no problems, i am guessing that there is a missing command line argument in you LB setup that is needed

Want to try that, have to figure out how to use it & set it up within LB I guess...VAGUELY remember using it when I briefly tried Hyperspin, but barely remember

    Future Pinball Loader for Launchbox

    View File

This zip contains a simple AutoHotKey executable and script that will help with loading Future Pinball tables.

The Problem: Future pinball requires the /open "Drive Letter:\full path\table_name.fpt" /play /exit commands to be specified individually for each table, otherwise the table will not load. Launchbox currently will not launch Future Pinball on its own without doing a little extra work in each table's settings. You have to manually enter this on each table which can be time consuming if you have a lot of tables to load.

Usage: Simply place the FP.exe file in your Future Pinball folder and point to it instead of the Future Pinball executable when setting up Future Pinball as an emulator in Launchbox. That's it.

Roll your own: If you are un-trusting and don't want to use the files in the zip (I don't blame you), you can download AutoHotKey and compile your own. The code is below. I've also included the non compiled FP.ahk so you can compile that if that suits you. That way you can open it in an editor to check the code before compiling.

    Run, "Future Pinball.exe" /open "%1%" /play /exit

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with this.

    THANKS A MILLION FOR THIS!

FP seems to be working OK in LB now

Now Visual Pinball on the other hand, all trying to play a game in LB from the wheel does is open VP itself....causing me to have to put down my arcade stick, pick the keyboard back up & navigate through VP's menu to find & play the game & go through all the steps...Very let down there doesn't seem to be a way to utilize LB with VP.

  15. Future Pinball seems to be working OK within LB, after I found a modifed Future Pinball exe that a member posted on here, desgined to get the games to auto play when selecting them

Visual Pinball though, all selecting a game on the wheel & pressing play does is open VP itself, requiring me to grab my keyboard & use the touchpad to go through it's menu, select the game in there & take the other steps to get it to run

Very dissapointed...I spent hours & hours the past couple weeks getting tables & all the images/vids needed to have a nice setup for LB & play them with my new arcade stick, but looks like it was kinda pointless.  I was sure I ran into an old thread that said VP should start the games in LB w no problem, unlike FP that needed the special emulator or scripts to achieve

I doubt a whole lot of ppl worry about pinball on here, but if anyone who does knows some way I could actually get these to work or at least if LB would be more pinball emulation friendly, I'd appreciate all feedback

    Steve

  16. Believe I saw somewhere at least Future Pinball was possible, not sure about VP

Could anyone send me some links or give me tips on setting these up?

Haven't played either one of these in couple years, but now that my months & months of LB/BB customization for MAME is coming along, would love to have these in there soon as well & set up all art/videos, etc

Thanks again in advance to any advice & greatly appreciate all I've gotten so far here on this forum

Yeah i cant remember what payment method it was, but i had clearly used it before as i just clicked login with google account then entered my credit card info, so i assume it used the name associated with my google account. As for the original question as @lordmonkus said you can ask, but generally it is only changed for streamers and youtubers so that the real full name isn't shown on a stream. Also having the name attached to the license makes it easier to spot if a license is being shared, we have had to block a few recently for just this reason.

Yea I noticed some thread other day where some guy had the nerve to come on here & claim he "bought" a license from someone for a couple bucks

I REALLY do not like the fact my name is shown on the menu tho, be cool if it could just be hidden even

  18. I've seen couple posts regarding this in the past, and from what I remember, the only option then was to e-mail the developer to set up another name.  Is that still the case?  If so can someone fill me in on how to contact him about this?

For the most part I love LB & I don't mean to come on here & complain some more, but that is a pretty bad idea IMO. No other software I can think of constantly displays my full name for all to see.  I was even planning to bring laptop, arcade stick & Launchbox over a get together to have some fun, but sorry don't need to be sharing my name with everybody over the house

For real if people knew the answers to your questions they would help you out. This is a community forum with all volunteers so how you feel entitled to support is mind boggling to me if you need official support you can go to support@unbrokensoftware.com and someone there will reply to you I'm sure.

Well guess I'm wrong, but I was under the impression this was an offical forum ran by the creators & team of Launchbox.  If I'm not mistaken when I first came on here I noticed alot of replies from the main developer himself...So IDK paying for software & believing there was an official forum to get help on for it, don't see how that would be so far fetched for someone to have a little sense of "entitlement" there

Are the .xml's still in your Launchbox/Data/ playlists folder?

Well turns out they're not now...but on my backup hard drive they still are...which is weird because I copied every single folder over exactly the way I had it, but somehow they were deleted after I reinstalled LB??

I will try to copy them over & see if that works.  Not sure if there's an import function I have to select, but will try to figure it out .  Thanks

I will help...I am willing to do a Team viewer session to help you in anyway or you can PM..We will get this solved to make your Launchbox experience a good one.

I appreciate that & sometimes I've gotten some good help on here, but quite few times I've never even gotten a response...This was fixed with the other poster's advice but this is the main problem I'm dealing with now that I really hope someone can help me resolve:

That's not the checkbox @lordmonkus is talking about, there is force import duplicate rom box, check that and try again, here it's the top option in this shot.

    Screenshot (282).png

Ok well, forgive my misunderstanding on that one...this appeared to work...but honestly kind of let down with the support on here..it's been helpful at times, other times my questions never answered. This wasn't that big of a deal, but at the same time last night I post about a major problem of all the playlists I spent weeks putting together dissapearing after reinstalling LB & all it's folders, and I get crickets on it...Def not the 1st time either

  23. 1 hour ago, lordmonkus said:

During the import process they were most likely considered a clone rom and therefore not imported. You could force import the single rom on its own. during the import process you will get to a screen where there is a checkbox to force import duplicate.\

    Hopefully that works for you.

Nope, that's not it...I tried installing the individual rom on it's own multiple times & each time unchecked the skip all clones box

So guess I'm just screwed again, prob yet another LB issue no one will respond to on here with a solution
