I wouldn't recommend Linux ironically. I only used it originally because I didn't want to buy a licence and I got fed up with the "Activate Windows" watermark, now it seems there's some sort of anti windows vodoo on my system.
-
Thanks but every program that works on my win 11 gaming laptop is having problems on this win 10 install and I have installed every runtime/web package that I can think of... While I'm no IT god I'm pretty IT litterate. I'm not even a Linux guy but I got fed up of the ball ache for a rig that only plays media and retroarch and jumped ship.
-
Thanks guys. The plugin will not load on my system. Does anyone have any ideas why? I think it's something windows related. I'm running an i5 4699k at 4gHz with Intel HD 4600 onboard graphics with 1GB allocated memory on an 8GB system which isn't that outdated but I'm having problems everywhere. I'm a couple of hours away from going back to Linux and the ugly retroarch xmb interface as I'm having problems there on windows as well (nestopia) will not load, I built my romset myself using clrmamepro so the ROMs are definitely not the issue.

Thank you for testing this before I got chance. I'll probably rebuild my FBneo set weekend and reinstall launchbox then (just done a fresh windows install). Did it still add 1 game entry per game with the clones listed for each game just like launchbox normally would and did the arcade hacks also get added to the correct playlist, CPS1, CPS2, etc?

I don't actually import as a MAME set I just select use MAME metadata for emulators other than MAME that use MAME files towards the end of importing ROMs process. Does this only use the latest MAME file names?
-
When I said 20-50 missing ROMs what I meant was 550 ROMs didn't get imported. Redearthn.zip a no CD version of Red Earth for example was included in MAME 0.116 - 0.141 (2007-2011) but is not importing when scanning as MAME ROMs. Thank you this is exactly when I need! I am hoping the liberato XML is the same format? https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro/FBNeo/master/dats/FinalBurn Neo (ClrMame Pro XML%2C Arcade only).dat

A portion of MAME is still MAME, not a mix of outsourced arcade ROMs + MAME, just a smaller percentage of the MAME/HBMAME collection. FBNeo is pure MAME/HBMAME ROMs, no exceptions. Sometimes they are from nightly/Dev builds, rarely they beat HBMAME by a few hours to a hack but again still MAME/HBMAME ROMs. That was just gobbledygook with .zip on the end as I don't have my system to hand right now but there was a good 20-50 ROMs missed. Is there any way I can use an XML or DAT-FILE to import ROMs and clones manually?
-
This is not true. FBNeo uses a portion of the MAME/HBMAME arcade set. FBNeo syncs with MAME/HBMAME changes, so if a ROM gets renamed or redumped on MAME/HBMAME, it will be renamed or redumped on FBNeo. Basically FBNeo is a collection of the best 2D systems on MAME and an amazing selection of HBMAME. Here's a quote from the Devs replying to someone stating FB Neo is just an older/more glitchy arcade set for less powerful systems. Those glitches are quite rare and usually quickly fixed when reported. But yeah we are not devoted to accuracy, if we consider something will enhance a game, we'll just do it. Last week one of our developpers decided to implement a filter to improve sound from the zx spectrum 1-bit beeper, now it sounds even better than fuse's band-limiting resynthesis, and that's indeed totally inaccurate emulation, zx spectrum can't do that. There are also cases where FBNeo is more accurate than MAME. Fun fact, sometimes people report bugs because something is different from MAME and they just assume MAME is always right, but after checking against video of the actual pcb we learn that MAME is actually the one in the wrong. Anyway, there is no definitive answer for MAME vs FBNeo, it all depends on what you want to play (MAME has far wider game compatibility, especially it supports 3D systems even if most of the time it doesn't work very well), what RA features you like (if you like runahead or retroachievements, FBNeo is definitely the way to go), and if you are a MAME OSD fanboy (you would be surprised by the number of people that complain because that menu doesn't open when pressing tab, even if literally everything is accessible through the RA menu instead)."
-
The skip features has no effect whatsoever. I will try import as non mame metadata but surely then the files are just going to have weird names like ehbdjd.zip and no correct information. It would be really nice to import via dat-files as this has most the information needed already.
-
I'm having trouble importing the latest FBNeo set into launchbox. Most the ROMs import without issue but some get left out even with all filters turned off, I assume these are hacks & homebrews not found in MAME and missing from the launchbox database. Is there a way I can import these either using the liberato FBNeo dat-file or force importing the files and entering the info manually?
-
1) CPS 1/2/3 games have been added but are not in th capcom play system playlists. (Sounds like a bug) 2) I'm selecting force import all ROMs/clones yet it's importing a 1G1R set. (Sounds like I'm doing something wrong) 3) When I tried to import the games that had been import to the games folder for a second time "4 more games were added" I don't understand how this is possible when I chose it to copy games from another location, this means that it's copying files across without adding them. (Sounds like I'm doing something wrong) 4) I'm using a split set and bios files are not being added. (Sounds like I need to rebuild as a non merged set?)
-
I might have a look first and see how much is missing, I know rebuilding can take quite some time. MAME should tell me what is missing right? I was planning on using both the launchbox and arcade controls batch file. Hopefully there is a few with overlapping requirements, I know from doing this before you have quite different picks which is really nice but I'm guessing that won't work in my favour here.
-
Oh god I forgot about parent ROMs too.. looks like I'll be rebuilding ?
-
I just re-downloaded mame and realised I downloaded the wrong set for this... I guess I'm out of luck for a list of the required bios files?

Quick 1G1R No-Intro ROM Sets Batch Files USA/EU/JPN[EU]
FishMonkey commented on FishMonkey's file in Third-party Apps and Plugins

I went from the same USA/EU ROM sets 90% of people use to making my own 1G1R sets using these batch files. No more dupes of the same games repacked as 2 in 1 releases plus Japanese games that you can work out how to play without any knowledge of the language is great, I've found myself adding Japanese systems I would of never added before. Making a up to date no-intro set was a bit of a pain but if you need help I'm sure I can point you in the right direction.

Quick 1G1R No-Intro ROM Sets Batch Files USA/EU/JPN[EU] View File Intro Note; Originally taken from Reddit, posted by Echoj2. I found these while looking into making an English 1G1R set. It includes Japanese games that are not English but have little to no Japanese text which afaik is very difficult to do using clrmamepro. You will to build your own up-to-date No-Intro set or you will be missing some roms. This morning I made some No-Intro-based batch files for various console and handhelds for someone in another post. Seeing as they might be useful to some people, I decided to post them here as well. 1G1R means "One Game One ROM", which further means that there is only one copy of each game. The Batch Files These were made with the following ROMs in the order listed. USA Europe - Exclusives and Semi-Exclusives That Require Localization Only Japan (En) - Japan Games That Are In English Japan - English-Friendly Japan Games That Are Semi-Exclusive To Europe Basic Info Just grab each ZIP for the systems you want from the folder, unpack them, run the batch files in the system's No-Intro ROM Set's ROM ZIP folder, then you'll have a new folder of ROMs including just the English games. You should know that if your No-Intro ROM Set is outdated on the names for the ROM ZIPs, then the batch files will not get every game; the same goes for if they are updated as well, but only Japanese games change names often. That's just how things go and you'll have to update your No-Intro ROM Sets then make your own 1G1R ROM Set to be certain you have everything, which you can read how to do directly below. However, keep in mind you can also use my new future-proof DAT files instead of No-Intro's latest 1G1R DAT files, with the advantage of mine being that I have the multi-cart re-releases and special controller games removed (among other things). Changelog 2017-11-07: Cleaned up Atari 2600 bat. Think it is the only way to get a No-Intro 1G1R ROM Set (barring the special controller required games) for Atari 2600 on the internet now. Still need to prune bad prototypes... well... the ones that have the (Proto) tag and don't work or are too unfinished; published prototypes (yeah, they did that back then) are treated the same as published finished games since they were widespread released. 2018-03-19: Today I finished the Atari 2600 batch file. It's about as good as it gets as far as I'm concerned. The unreleased game prototypes have been pruned down to what appears to only be the games that are complete enough to be called games. Can't be sure I have every Atari 2600 game or the best version of games that were renamed and re-released, but its current state is about as good as it gets. 2018-03-20: Updated the problem spreadsheet. Mostly a bunch of N/A for lots of systems. Updated some batch files here and there, though nothing major outside of finally getting rid of the emulated NES ports in the GBA batch file. 2018-04-06: Lots of updating over the past few days. Most Semi-Exclusive Europe games should now be replaced wherever possible with English-Friendly Japan games. Numerous Special Controller Required games also removed, though not completely. 2018-04-09: Added Magnavox - Odyssey2 batch file in preparation of the new RetroArch update that will add keyboard to gamepad remapping. 2018-04-10: I've done horrible things today. Fixed N64 batch file so that it gets "Superman - The New Superman Aventures" and learned more about a game I wish I could forget. Added the unlicensed Tengen and Codemasters games to the NES batch file due to their their fame/notoriety, respectfully. Tengen made some fine games, while Codemasters... made a few good ones... I promise. Updated all batch files to No-Intro names as of 2018-04-08 and have made a mental note to not update again until nearly future-proof custom 1G1R DATs are made. 2018-05-16: The future-proof DATs have been made! They are included with each batch file in case there is a name issue with batch files. Just need to tackle the prototype pruning, then prune the whole Odyssey2/Videopac batch/DAT due to the emulators incompatibilities and make a Videopac+ batch/DAT that has gone through the same process as the Odyssey2/Videopac. 2018-05-18: Added 1G1R lists for Sega CD and TurboGrafx-CD. Hope someone finds them useful, though I can't say for certain how accurate the TurboGrafx-CD one is due to the fact I only spent a minimal amount of time time removing USA released games from my main Japan collection: please report any duplicates. 2018-07-04: Full update of batches and DATs, and slightly improved all of them (hopefully). Added Intellivision now that No-Intro supports it. Put all DATs in a single archive since anyone that knows how to use them would just want to get them, and save all other users from downloading something they aren't going to use. 2018-07-13: Updated batches and DATs again. Narrowed scope of project to just official releases, a few notable unlicensed on the NES, and two prototypes that should just be unpublished in the USA yet complete otherwise. Arcade Platform is not splitting into different arcade systems
FishMonkey replied to FishMonkey's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks that's great, I quite like them all in one category now they're all in one platform. -
In the past when importing mame sets its has always split Arcade into different arcade systems. CPS1, Midway ect. after updating and importing a new set of roms they just import into arcade even tho I'm selecting create playlists for seperate sytems. Has something changed or am I doing something wrong? Thank you
-
This is great I love sets like this. It's been a while since I've updated MAME and this time I went non-merged instead of updating to use this. I noticed this is totally new and not an update of the original so I ran the original done by badmouth, removed the few games that use CHDs then coppied the new set over it. I went from 660-odd ROMS to 879 ROMs, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there wasn't very many dupes

Oh that sucks, my ratio is through the roof there but I guess everyone’s is. Well hopefully by the time 3.1 is out I will have enough upload credit on PD, at least I got my favourite pack ? thank you for all your work.
-
That’s great. Is your name exoscoriae on the other site? I think this is where I grabbed your other packs before I knew about PD.
-
That’s great thank you. Bit of a cheeky question but will eXoDOS v3 be uploaded anywhere else apart from PD. I got a message trying to download that my ratio will drop too low. I made a thread explaining I have v2 and it’ll only take 10gb to update yet I got a reply stating “no exceptions” even though a mod would be able to see I didn’t download the whole RPG pack to get 100%.
-
Thanks for the heads up because that is exactly what I was going to do. So I don’t have to run the setup.bat then and I just copy the said files over manually? Or I do run the set up somewhere else then copy the files over? I downloaded the torrent directly to launchbox so if I run the setup.bat it will definitely overwrite everything.
