  1. Ah nice, that list is very helpful. Picked out about 15 games i actually care about and will try to source the CHD files individually. Okay that's good to know. I am going to have a fun weekend purging games from LaunchBox that have missing artwork, downloading CHDs and then hopefully find some time to play a game Will be worth it in the end though I hope.
  2. Fair enough, I have the space but 650gb for games I may not even play very much seems a bit mad, so I would rather not get the full pack. Quick question, I have looked on wiki and it seems only six CPS III games exist? Red Earth 1996-11-21 War-Zard (ウォーザード) Street Fighter III: New Generation 1997-02-04 Street Fighter III (ストリートファイターIII) Street Fighter III 2nd Impact: Giant Attack 1997-09-30 Street Fighter III 2nd Impact (ストリートファイターIII 2nd Impact) JoJo's Venture 1998-12-02 JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険) Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future 1999-05-12 Street Fighter III 3rd Strike (ストリートファイターIII 3rd Strike) JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future 1999-09-13 JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken Mirai e no Isan (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 未来への遺産) Apart from the above and Killer Instinct, is there any other noteworthy games that require the CHD file? Also If I get the few CHD's I want do I just drop them in the same location as the ROMs? Nothing else required? Many thanks.
  3. Is it really that large? I only have about 10 CPS III games i think, which LB has sorted for me. Would it still be 650gb? Okay I sort of assumed that would be the case, just wondered if there was a trick to find some of the missing info.
  4. I am wondering if i may borrow from the fountain of knowledge once more? I got everything working last night with your help, which I am super happy about, but from the very limited testing I did before i fell asleep, it seemed that the CPS III ROMs were not loading through MAME. I think this is a common issue, but i couldn't find a definitive answer online on how to fix this. Any help would be much appreciated Many thanks! p.s. if you have any tips on scraping the MAME ROMs i would also love to hear it, as quite a lot of them do not scrape any pictures or information at all from wiki/LB/emumovies, and going through all of them manually would be a mammoth task.
  5. Can confirm it works just fine, I was just being an idiot Will need to look into how to configure the buttons in general though as its confusing. Anyway off to bed now, thanks so much guys i really thought this was going to be a lot worse than this. Now i can start getting it looking how i want in bigbox
  6. Aha, cool i will try again. I saw some talk earlier in this thread about MAME not remembering controllers after resets etc. Hoping that is not the case for me. I have big box and i want this to work 100% without the need for my keyboard as I am creating my own emu machine
  7. Sorry it does work, just needed to do it for 'this machine' and not general. thanks a bunch.
  8. Hey! We have lift off! I have been able to load into a few games now so i am almost there. I don't suppose I can ask you how to setup a wireless Xbox controller with MAME too? It's the windows XBOX 1 controller using the official dongle, so it doesn't always register as an input in emus, looked in the tab menu for MAME and it wouldn't readmy button presses. Thank you!
  9. Hmm okay. I will ponder on that. Found the latest ROMs so will give it a bash and report back.
  10. Will do, thank you for the advice. Is it best to do it through MAME or Retroarch do you think?
  11. Okay, that's what I was afraid of. I am leaning towards just downloading the newer ROM pack, it seems the easier option. I think I will start fresh this weekend *sob* Was hoping ETA Prime would do a video on this, but I don't think he has yet. Promising news from Launchbox about drop downs for the different cores for RA in the associated platforms though, that would make things so much easier!
  12. That's incredibly helpful, thank you I will give that a try! I know that with the pi you often had to select different cores in RA in order to get certain Arcade games working (i.e. fb alpha would work for some, MAME 2000 would work for others) and this was quite easy to do as you can just press A before you load in and then switch the core. How do you go about getting that to work within Launchbox? It seems like a huge task to get everything working if i have to assign certain games to certain cores. Thanks again for the quick and helpful replies
  13. Thanks Is there some way to check with version the roms are from? If not could you give me a subtle hint where one might source the latest Rom pack from?
  14. Hi guys, Hoping for some help with getting this working. to give some background I had a raspberry pi with an arcade section within retro pie. I have moved all the roms from it into my launchbox Rom folder (named arcade) and I have downloaded latest MAME version. Also I have retroarch set up in launchbox to play ps1 and dolphin. I have imported all the roms into launchbox under arcade and assigned them to play using retroarch, and also downloaded all of the different arcade cores within retroarch itself. however this refuses to load. I have also tried to open with mame which also doesn't work. i know I am probably going wrong somewhere, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try first? from reading above I think it could either be the wrong version of mame I am using or possible needing an ini file but I am a noob and any help troubleshooting would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
