I always like the concept art for the game as bonus content. Seeing how a character went from first thoughts to final product is always intriguing. Original music and remastered music compilations are always wonderful as well, the music is one of the things that really bring the nostalgia home.

The remaster MUST retain the original story line. Adding new chapters or changing parts can chase away the core fans. Updated graphics, music, and controls can be awesome, but consideration for the original story and how those graphics and controls can change the story needs to be looked at. If the original controls had every turn a full 90°, updated controls may make that unreasonable for a puzzle; changing that puzzle could destroy how the game feels so maybe the controls should enforce tight turns. A re-imagined game is absolutely fine, the modern Tomb Raider games are great. A re-imagined game works because it doesn't stomp on the original, it steps aside and makes it's own path. A re-mastered game is the original and as such must keep the original footprint or it isn't paying homage and is instead crushing the trail made before it. A variation of re-masters I love are the Mesen HD packs. The Metroid HD and The Legend of Zelda - Remastered packs are phenomenal and do nothing but place updated graphics and audio on top of the original game.

Community Playlist 📄 Top 5 Games Of All Time 🎖️ + Steam Key Giveaway
Kuvenant replied to AstroBob's topic in Community Corner
Oooh, my five most favouritest games of all time. Cue reminiscing. Super Mario Bros 3 - I spent so much allowance money renting this game I probably could have bought it twice, if any stores in town sold it! So much replayability, and never enough Tanookie. Civilization - Just. One. More. Turn. 'Nuf said. Hero's Quest (damn you Milton Bradley!) Quest for Glory - Character skills that develop as you use them, your choices have repercussions, and the developers had a sense of humour. Classic. Final Fantasy VII - I have never wanted to kill an antagonist more than Sephiroth after the death of Aerith. Emotional manipulation creates fond memories. Fallout 4 - Huge game, perfectly balanced with no exploits. This game introduced me to the world of modding and continues to deliver (Fallout: London). Now I have to go and lose some sleep before work tomorrow. Thanks Launchbox Celebration. -
Community Playlist 📄 Party Time! 🥳 + Steam Key Giveaway
Kuvenant replied to AstroBob's topic in Community Corner
Best Party Games? Some obvious ones and some definitely not. Mario Party (Any) - These games are literally designed for a party. I can play with my kids and we can all get angry/excited and not want to kill each other in the end. Mario Kart (Any) - Another set of obvious party games, but better for people who can end the game and not hold a grudge because of the $%^&ing blue shell! The Next Tetris - A well timed Tetris can absolutely end your opponents chances to do anything other than spin their block and hope they can recover. Great for frenemies. X-Men (6 player arcade) - Bad controls, questionable story, designers who clearly didn't know the characters. Classic nostalgia arcade gaming. God of War - People sometimes suck and you want to rage by yourself. Parties of one are still parties. -
Evil Launchbox making us choose from all the awesome game companies. Despite this I feel it necessary to brown-nose in hopes it will get a like from those doing the giveaway and state Launchbox, except I have yet to play any of their games (but if they snuck one into their software as an easter egg...). Realistically I have to go back to Sierra. They got me started with PC gaming and I still go back to their games whenever nostalgia calls.

I'm an old school gamer. One of my favourite series was the Hero's Quest (damn you Milton Bradley!!) Quest for Glory series by Sierra. Choosing your hero's class, setting their stats, and then all of the puzzle solving and ridiculous gags that Sierra was the absolute master of. And carrying your character through the entire series. And because parody is awesome Heroine's Quest should be tossed in as well.

No worries. Things happen. I am glad to see Launchbox returning to Android regardless. As for Lone Wolf...figures. Productive is definitely what I am when playing it. Soooo productive. Do what you can and I'll still appreciate your efforts.

Consider this my vote to add some sort of manual import function for Android games. I personally don't mind removing apps that are automatically imported from Launchbox, but one of my favorites never showed up and is unavailable. My problem game is Lone Wolf Saga by GDV Games and Software. The opt-in option would also accomplish this, but may require all apps be automatically imported which can become a massive headache in the other direction for other users.

Where did you find how to import Android games?

I've got it starting easily enough. I put "7th Heaven.exe" as the application path, and "/PROFILE:Default /LAUNCH" in the command line parameters. To keep the startup pretty I overrode the default start screen settings to hide all windows that aren't exclusively fullscreen. The UAC prompt still pops up. UAC can be turned off, but that creates a security hole. I haven't figured this out yet. I created the following .bat file and set it in the 7th Heaven -> Settings -> Game Launcher -> Programs to Run Prior to FF7 @echo off sleep 60 :check tasklist /FI "IMAGENAME eq ff7.exe" 2>NUL | find /I /N "ff7.exe">NUL if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="0" (goto check) else "7th Heaven.exe" /Quit Everything runs beautifully, except for the UAC prompt. I don't see a way around it.
-
There is a way, though I am still working through it. And if you didn't know, 7th Heaven has updated and is MUCH better. What I am having the most trouble with is getting 7th Heaven to launch without Windows UAC kicking in.

I love the idea of launching a game through GOG Galaxy in order to be able to use achievements and such. However, would it be possible to be able to launch only specific GOG games through Galaxy? A number of my GOG games (ie. Quest for Glory V) have no extra features available from GOG. Or another way to go about this would be how do I assign or remove a GOG badge from a game? I presume that by removing the badge LaunchBox would no longer attempt to use GOG Galaxy to launch the game.

Just discovered this today. Like the idea. My collection on GOG is still quite small, though I am certain there are more than a few out there with massive collections that would find this VERY useful. Perhaps you could get the word out by seeing if this could be covered in one of the semi-regular Launchbox videos?
