DickNervous
So I just heard of LaunchBox today, checked out the free version and loved it. Upgraded to the Premium and have been playing around with it so now I have some questions. :) 1. Is there a way to hide games, either with a filter or something else. For example, perhaps set LB to not show games that you Completed or set a field to a specific value? 2. With the custom filters is there a way to setup a filter that only shows titles that DON'T have a value in a field? For instance if the "Source" is blank, I want to see those titles so I can set it. 3. Is there any way to either view the database in a table form (like Excel) to make bulk editing of field easier? Either in the UI or using some other editor? 4. I saw this in another thread, but figured I would add it. The ability to customize what is in the Game Details section (turn fields on/off) would be awesome. Thanks for making an awesome application! Jason Carr
Hi @DickNervous (lol), welcome. 1. Probably the best way to do this would be to use custom filters. 2. That's a good point, I guess there's no way to specify "not exists" in the filters. Whoops. I'll add this to my to-do list. 3. The LaunchBox.xml file contains all the data in XML format. So it's easy to open it up in a text editor for search, replace, etc. You might have some luck opening it up in Excel, but I'm not sure. 4. That is definitely coming. :) Thanks! DickNervous
Okay, I think I figured it out with the Custom Filters. If I set Genre = "Role-Playing" and "Completed" = "No", then I can see just the games I haven't marked completed that are Role-Playing games. But I didn't see a way to use a custom field in the custom filters. Is that there? Okay, and XML file is easy enough to work with. Plenty of options there for bulk editing and stuff like that. Thanks!
Jason Carr
Yeah, haven't added custom fields to custom filters yet. We'll get that in eventually. ;)
Coleman
I would like to throw in another request for improvement to filter functions. Creating custom filters would help especially with my kids who have a much more limited range of games that appeal to them...
