HideousChud
Hello all. Long Story short, I am trying to get all of my emu's set up properly so I can add everything into LaunchBox at one time......and I cannot get Demul to work. It will boot up, but as soon as I try to load a game, or set up the controller it tells me that demul.exe has stopped working, then closes. Specs....I5 6402P 2.8 Gig quad core, 8 gigs of ram, AMD RX 480 4G, Windows 10, DX12. Any ideas?? This is my only hold out. Thank you for your time. Labine
Make sure you have the appropriate bios files. 2 required for Dreamcast. (flash and bios/boot)

(flash and bios/boot) I just tried this...no dice. But Thank You for trying to help! It looks like I only have DX12 installed. With Demul being an older program, is it possible that it 'needs' DX11, or maybe some old libraries?

I'm at work can't verify, but I believe Demul does use DX11 as its renderer. In that case, yes you need DX11 installed. You can find that on microsoft's website most likely (Or maybe Windows update, if you have Windows10)
DOS76
If you have DX12 on your PC then you already have DX11 too. If you are missing an DirectX stuff it can all be gotten from MS here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=
HideousChud
Well, this keeps getting weirder. I had an X360 wired controller plugged in. As a goof, I unplugged it, and was able to set up keyboard controls. I was actually able to boot up my Dreamcast version of Ikaruga.....it let's me select difficulty, and such, but once the game starts it stops working again. I also tried to set the video to match my native resolution. I'm going to try a different game. All this, just so I can run Naomi titles. HideousChud
Just wanted to update...... Tried a few more things (uninstalling and reinstalling drivers/files/programs....same outcome. So I tried using Demul .57, and it worked. It needs a bit of video tweaking, but both Ikaruga and Giga Wing ran nice and smooth. I'm not sure if I'm missing much by using an older version, but for the time being I'm happy. Thank you guys for giving me a hand with this. Eckethump
I know this is an oldish post now but I just wanted to add some things that I've found out in case anyone searches for this problem. 1) It's AMD drivers particularly with polaris chipset (AMD RX480) - the later drivers break something on a few emulators. I'm aware of a particular problem with CEMUL and Mario Kart 8 also being a Polaris problem. 2) With Demul 0.7 (wip) newer AMD drivers break the OLD DirectX 11 plugin (The one with video scaling) so you have to play using the Newer plugin without scaling. Hope this helps.
