Lordmonkus
That's weird, are you using Rocket Launcher as an in between LB and RA ?
prvee
no.
Lordmonkus
Very strange because if your controls are setup and working in Retroarch outside of Launchbox it should work going through Launchbox. I will tag @SentaiBrad and hopefully he may have a something to add.
prvee
uggh, was hoping i was missing something easy. thank.
Lordmonkus
Unless you are loading a custom config that is not setup properly I am not sure at all what would cause your issue.
prvee
Thanks. Turns out i still had a custom config being called from my testing stages. took that out and all is well. Now i have a new problem. I turned on full screen in video settings and when i launched burger time it was rotated 90 degrees. no big deal i went in and rotated 90 in main video settings . burger time was back to the right orientation. i launched donkey kong and now that is upside down. why would roms have a different orientation. does this mean i need to figure out command line orientations and edit each roms emulation to get each one right? prvee
i am using a 16x9 monitor in standard configuration by the way.
Lordmonkus
Are you setting the rotation in the general or game settings ? I assume you are using Mame. Check in the general settings make sure your rotation is set correctly there and then adjust per game as needed.
prvee
i am using retroarch. i changed it the main settings from normal to 90 because burger time was the first game i loaded and it was wrong. then the second game was even more wrong. i guess ill put back to normal and change in each game. any idea what percentage need to be rotated. i never saw any like that in all my testing not oin full screen. Lordmonkus
0 degrees should be normal. Open up the settings in the Mame core with the Tab key and set it in the general settings first and then adjust per game.

prvee
cant get this orientation to change per rom. any walkthrus how to do it.
Lordmonkus
Having it set to none in the video options should make everything default to its proper orientation but you may have to save out a per game config in the Retroarch Quick Menu.
SentaiBrad
Did you set any overrides? My next solution to test whats going on is to use a fresh RetroArch.cfg from the zip file. If you delete it, RetroArch will remake it, but you'd have to turn some things back on. So I consider default the cfg you pull out of the zip files when you download it. A potential workaround, if you can't get it, I am not familiar with MAME RA, I just know that it lags behind, but have you tried regular MAME? Why RA MAME over regular MAME? To go the extra step, you're also using the "MAME" core, and not a MAME core with a year after it, correct?
prvee
i was using the retro arch core just for consitancy and i have learned it with other platforms. would plain mame be better ? i am using the mame 2003 core because it runs most of the romset i have. i do however have a different set that i am removing games i dont want and i believe that runs on the mame 2016 best. i can move to mame no retroarch if you think its best. prvee
either way i dont know the command lines to rotate per game. i have found many different variations while searching and none of them affect the image except the main rotation within retroarch. SentaiBrad
If you grab a MAME .183 split set (or a non-merged set), and use the MAME core, everything should be totally fine. All the other MAME cores are outdated. In this case, MAME also has MESS, which is easier in standalone MAME than RA MAME (reduces the amount of steps), controllers are automatically assigned, and MAME has some good filters now too (which both are a fairly big sticking point for RetroArch). Edit: I wouldn't be surprised if there was some funkyness with the roms and the version of MAME you're using.
Lordmonkus
Oh geez you are using the Mame2003 core ? I wouldn't use any Mame core other than the straight Mame core which is based off the 183 version of Mame if I am not mistaken. Use the stand alone version of Mame that matches your rom set.
