skyblast Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 (edited) Hello everyone. New to Launchbox. Everything has been going smoothly until I try to play a game... Thus far I have downloaded the latest version of mame and all applicable roms. Then when I click on a rom in the FE it says....extracting file? Why won't it simply start the game? Lordmonkus Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 My guess is you have downloaded the Mame.exe installer and you are pointing your Mame emulator in Launchbox to it instead of having installed it first. If you are new to Mame and getting it setup first I suggest taking a look at my tutorial for it first.
john.griffiths Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 lordmonkus is likely correct (as I did the same thing a week ago). You have downloaded mame.exe however this is the installer not the application. Find mame.exe, double click to install it somewhere, the re-point launchbox to your install of mame (which crazily may also be named mame.exe, or mame64.exe or something else).
