stamatis87
I just recently updated to the latest version of MAMEUI64 and even though I have set the video settings within MAME to OpenGL when I open a game within BigBox the emulator launches in D3D mode. This didn't happen with the previous version of MAMEUI64 and everytime I exit the emulator to go back to BigBox, BigBox crashes to the desktop with the windows start menu bar missing and I have to end task BigBox. When I usually run the emulator in OpenGL this doesn't happen. I have no issue running in OpenGL mode when I run MAME64UI by itself without BigBox but for some reason running MAME64UI within BigBox causes the emulator to run in D3D mode which is bizarre! DOS76
I'd suggest going into your MAME.ini and adding OpenGL as the core rendered and see if changes anything.
DOS76
More specifically you want the OSD video options and you want to set the line video to be OpenGL if it already say OpenGL and it is rendering in D3D do you have an other ini files for Horizontal or Vertical or games specific ones that are changing your preference down the line. stamatis87
What settings in the ini file would I need to change?
DOS76
if you look in the ini file there are heading for sections you want the OSD Video

DOS76
so even with that set to OpenGL it starts the game in d3d?

Like I said only when I launch a game within BigBox. If I launch MAMEUI64 on its own everything is fine.
DOS76
that is really weird do you have write set to 1 in the ini file and it makes an individual .ini for each game you play by any chance? On 2nd thought if you have it working right outside of LB then that shouldn't make a difference. Edited August 5, 2017 by DOS76

Yes I set the writeconfig to 1 but still same result. It doesn't make indivdual .ini files for each game. It just creates nvram and cfg files for the games in those folders which is normal. This problem is really bugging me! lol
DOS76
yeah I have no clue if I set my write config to one it creates an ini for each game I know that the settings in those will override the settings in the MAME.ini but if you don't have those it definitely isn't the issue. Try going to manage emulator in LB and adding -video opengl to the command line for the emulator

Thank you so much It would be nice if BigBox didn't crash coming out of D3D mode but at least this method dances around that little problem. Thanks again!
