Almighty061582
I'm trying to install my sega roms. They wont import, I've repeated the process numerous times to no avail. I have to manually add each individual file for it to work. Way too many for that to do it that way. I found an old post that advocated making a back up of the .xml file in the install directory. New versions of launchbox such as mine do not have an xml file. How do I fix this? I really enjoy this program but I seem to constantly running into little issues like this! Please help! thanks. New versions of launchbox such as mine do not have an xml file. Which xml file are you referring to ? There are a whole bunch of them. Any problems you are having importing your games is a weird one, I have never encountered any problems importing any roms outside of my own mistakes such as importing them to an incorrect platform and not finding my games where they should be. What Sega roms exactly are you importing ? Master System, Genesis or another system ?
Almighty061582
Genesis roms. I actually physically placed the unzipped files in the Sega directory and they still don't get recognized. Unless I add specific files individually, they fail to import.
Lordmonkus
You can import your games in bulk using either the Tools > Import Roms method or selecting all your roms in File Explorer and dragging them into Launchbox (this is how I do it). Check out this tutorial video.
Almighty061582
Yeah man like I said, I dumped the files into the launchbox genesis folder, still not working.
Almighty061582
I tried separately with two different rom sets as well
Lordmonkus
But did you go through the import process ? Simply dumping them into the folder doesn't do anything.
Almighty061582
yes sir.
Lordmonkus
Perhaps you already have your roms imported but under a different platform by accident, check by showing all games and look for your Sega Genesis games you have imported.
Lordmonkus
Just did a test on my tester install of Launchbox (version 8.1 stable) and imported a batch of 57 games, all imported perfectly and easily.
Almighty061582
yeah, I just checked to see if maybe the games were downloaded under a different system. They are not. But like I said... if I add them individually they seem to work.
Almighty061582
I mean really the only difference is my files seemed to be a .gen extension...
Lordmonkus
The file extension doesn't matter when bulk importing and you select all the files you want.
Almighty061582
Alright I am 100% ive encountered some sort of bug. Because I can add each file individually but no bulk, I cant add anything in bulk either by the files directly to the game folder in the Launchbox install, or by importing from their current location. But adding files individually from both from the games folder, and from the original destination works. This is pretty frustrating as I have no other way to import than individually. Lordmonkus
What version are you using ?
Almighty061582
8.
Lordmonkus
Well like I said in an earlier post, I just did a bulk import using a 8.1 stable and no issue. Plus 8.1 has been out for a while now and you're the first person reporting this problem, so if it is a bug you're the first to encounter it. Almighty061582
Entirely possible. But I just copied several other types of roms from different consoles the same way in bulk with no issues...
ras2a
I'm having issues importing SEGA Megadrive roms. Clearly, the system is only configured for 'Genesis' and, as an example, when trying to import 'Thunder Force IV'... the import process looks to go through scanning for media/metadata and then simply ends by saying 0 roms imported. I ONLY have Sega Genesis set up... but I'm convinced not ALL games are importing and am just wondering what causes this behaviour? Surely, even if no game metadata/images exist in the cloud, the game should at least still be added? Edit: Just found out that this particular game was called Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar in the US.... Sure enough, that HAS been imported. Quick question? Are there any / many exclusives to the Megadrive vs Genesis... If so, how would one go about setting up a Megadrive platform for Megadrive-centric games?
