Bedwyr
I downloaded Project64 after hearing that they finally removed the malware. I'm trying to get Ocarina to display in 4:3. I have the full screen resolution set to 1280x960 in the graphics plugin settings but the emulator insists on 16:9 once I start a game and go to full screen. Not sure what to do. Lordmonkus
Did you set the aspect ratio to 4:3 in the video plugin settings ?I also highly recommend using Mupen64plus. https://m64p.github.io/
Bedwyr
It's not as fancy as yours, but:
Lordmonkus
Are you not using the GLideN64 plugin ?

Er, I'm using whatever came with the emulator by default; I assumed it was packaged together. I don't see anything else on the PJ64 website. Bedwyr
Ok, switched over. Sorry I missed that. Unfortunately it's still displaying wide screen. Also checked StartFox64. It appears that one is 16:9 stretched as well. Edited August 4, 2018 by Bedwyr clarification
Lordmonkus
If you set the aspect to 4:3 it should display in 4:3, it does for me.
Bedwyr
Fraid not. It just insists on stretching.
Bedwyr
Hmm. Interesting. When I have x960 resolution and the fullscreen display set to 4:3, there are very narrow black bars on the top and bottom. When I switch to 15:9, the screen gets squashed more, with bigger black bars.
Lordmonkus
Weird, cause the screenshot I posted above launches stuff in 4:3. I gave up on using PJ64 though, I find Mupen64plus much better and easier to use.
Bedwyr
higher compatibility rate too?
Lordmonkus
Yeah, Mupen64 is awesome out of the box setup to use the GLideN64 plugin and everything.
Bedwyr
Ok, I'll check it out.
Bedwyr
Update: I got the Mupen core working more to my tastes on Retroarch. I think I'll stick with it for now as the most user-friendly and personal setup friendly option. Now it's just a decision whether to do an Ocarina playthrough on the big screen or the remastered 3DS version...
