akirayojimbo
So, I've my LaunchBox set up with several systems including MAME. For most systems I want the roms to be unzipped when launching the emulator, but for MAME I want them them to remain zipped. So, I've created 2 Retroarch "emulators" in my LaunchBox setup, one that is set to leave the roms zipped and the other that unzips the roms. Everything is working great except for this, I can't double-click on the games in LaunchBox to launch them (or Right-click -> Play) but I can Right-click on the game, select "Launch With...", select "Retroarch (Don't Unzip)", and then select "mamelibretro". I've made sure that the "Retroarch (Don't Unzip)" emulator is set as the default for the "Arcade" platform. I have the same problem in Big Box. Anyone have any ideas what may be going on here? Bleu_Skie
Actually, for most systems you don't need to unzip roms before running. Most cores will work fine without that step. Taking a picture of your emulator details and associated platforms would help. Since you can play the game, the problem probably lies in there somewhere. Could be several things, so it's hard to guess.
akirayojimbo
Your reply made me "flip" my setup. My default Retroarch emulator config now doesn't extract the roms. I set the MAME platform to use that default Retroarch emulator and it now works fine. I'm still not sure why the second Retroarch emulator config I created didn't start automatically. I'll revisit this again when I find a platform where the roms do need to be extracted.
Lordmonkus
Did you change your roms to use the new emulator entry after you added it ? Just simply checking the "default emulator" box in the emulator entry in LB doesn't change the emulator, it's only there for when importing. akirayojimbo
Boom. That was it. I wasn't aware that that setting was saved per rom. Switching all the roms to use the alternate Retroarch emulator worked.
