Move/Copy Mame Roms on import

little background.  I DID have mame installed fine, and working previously, and it did ask me at the time if I wanted to move, copy or use roms where they were.  Originally I followed a tutorial and it worked great and everythings good.  Fast forward a bit, I get a clean set of current roms and decide that instead f trying to update the ones in launchbox I'll just delete all the arcades/mame and start clean.  all good so far. Unlike the tutorial I don't want to just blanky dump an almost 500 gig rom folder in launchbox, especially knowing most aren't gonna be used, specially the ones with CHD's

Now, the issue comes when I try and import the roms.  it will import them fine, but there is no longer a choice on HOW.  when importing there is no longer a choice on copy, move or leave, it just goes for leave and I want it to copy the ones it wants to use

is there a way to make it give me the option again, or at least changing the default

Are you importing via the Mame Arcade Full Set option, or the Rom Files option?  I never used the Mame Arcade Full Set option to import, but I believe that gives you different options during the import process.  I just tried the Rom Files one, and it prompted me if I wanted to copy/move/keep etc. as it always did.

thank you, that was it exactly.  Not sure why there's a difference just on that one bit, as the rest of the prompts seem to be identical.  always just assumed there was a specific reason I didn't know why it had mame seperatly like that

The reason its this way now is because the easiest way to handle MAME. Due to the fact that MAME by default expects to see the ROMs in a certain location. Its mind boggling how many forum post there are about MAME not working due to the fact that the end users MAME.ini is pointing to the default folder while the games have now been moved to LB. It's basically a form of noob proofing but at the same time if your path isn't the default it allows for other locations assuming users not using the default folder already know how to edit their mame.ini file.
