3dlollo
I am having some problems with few FBA romsets; the roms names used are not the usual full name; so they have names like "aburner2", "acrush" and such. When scraping those files, launchbox can't find a match; so I end up with a ton of games that are not scraped correctly. Why is that? Isn't Launchbox using also the various xml and dat files from different emulators to find the correct names? These names looks like the mame names, although they are for PC engine (which does not even have an entry in Launchbox; I can see the turbografx-16 but not the Nec PC-Engine); so I can't scrape them as mame. Is my only option to change every game entry in launchbox? These are the names from the reference set so I assume they are correct.

Check the box in the import wizard to use "mame naming for other emulators that use mame naming" or similar.

PC Engine and TuroGrafx 16 are the same console, just like Famicom and NES.

Yes, although one is the Japanese version and the other is the world version, right? FBA has 2 folders: one for PCE and one for TG16; so I assume they have different games for different region? aleph_naught
I'm having a similar problem to OP, however in my case I have about 8000 imported ROMs across a dozen or so different platforms which have not had their names scraped correctly. The title is generally obvious from the filename, but Launchbox's strict name matching prevents even ROM titles like "SpaceHarrier v1.3 NTSC" from being picked up, and thus I'm unable to get images or metadata for these. Given the number of ROMs, manually fixing this isn't an option. This sounds like it might help, but unfortunately I can't find a way to do this for ROMs that have already been imported - the "Download Metadata and Media" wizard doesn't present this as an option. Surely there's a way to rescrape titles for ROMs already in the library? Otherwise the only way I can think to do it would be to select all ROMs without a cover image, export them to another folder, remove them from the library and re-import platform-by-platform.. which would be rather tedious any suggestions appreciated! That would only apply to MAME, not other systems, and going by the example name you gave of "SpaceHarrier v1.3 NTSC" thats not a MAME rom. With roms you want all additional info inside of brackets. So in this case your rom should be named "Space Harrier (v1.3 NTSC)" then the importer will ignore the extra info with regards to matching the game in our database. MAME is handeled differently as the roms should never be renamed or they wont work, so in that case we use the official MAME info to match the rom shortnames to the full name on the fly during import.
