so im in big box i play a mame game i exit the game usually u can use the joystick to go up and down now it wont let me i have to use the mouse and click on big box then the joystick work any idea to fix this

Sounds like it's losing focus, try turning off startup/shutdown and pause screens and see if that fixes it.
