Auto installed retroarch launching in the background.

So, I let launchbox download and auto install Retroarch.  But when I click on games (even using my controller), they launch in the background -- with no visual feedback -- like it's never even any Visual Feedback -- so I try double clicking and it launches too more -- and it just keeps going like that -- by the time I figured out what was happening -- like 10x copies of retroarch were running.

Even now, I still have to alt+tab after clicking on a game to switch to it -- how can I fix this?

There's nothing else running on this PC.  The core isn't losing focus, it's just launched in the background by default.  Anyone else having this issue?
