Hi,

I purchased the premium version of Launchbox and downloaded and installed the latest version as of today>
Also installed the required dot.sdk and a fresh version of retroarch through launchbox.
I started of by linking some snes roms and selecting a few media files and let it use the retroarch installed as the chosen emulator.
games take over a minute to start up.
Big Box takes over 6 minutes to startup.

I uninstalled everything and installed fresh, this time only adding 1 snes rom and 4 media files.
Still over a minute to start the game from launchbox and still 6+ minutes to launch big box.
If I try to change any settings in Big Box it takes over 3 minutes to react to anything I select.

Launchbox wanted to change to direct x settings, which I agreed to, is this normal pratcice.

My setup is

an i7 9700f processor
32 gig of ram
Windows 10 Home
NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2070 Super

Any help would be great.

Cheers
A

If your load times are that large on your system you have something else going on in your setup as that is extremely atypical. Some things I would verify are:

Do you have a virus scanner active scanning the process, causing the process to pause while it's being scanned?
Do you have a file sync tool running on the folder that would lock the file, making it impossible for us to open it?
Do you have any third party apps running that alter/force video card settings on the application? (Things like NVidia control panel)
Can you run a CHKDSK on the drive LaunchBox is installed to to see if there are any bad sectors on your computer?
Can you open command prompt as administrator and run the command "/sfc scannow" (Without quotes) and then restart your computer and see if that helps?
Also make sure you're NOT launching LaunchBox as administrator as it WILL cause issues and make it hard for the application to find it's files appropriately.

Ok, so here's what i've done up to now ( today)
Cleared out all instances of Launchbox and retroarch.
Disabled nvidia G-sync
Scanned the harddrives- fine
Installed a fresh launchbox
installed a fresh retroarch through launchbox before adding any roms as the retroarch installation progress would freeze at half way, if done after installing roms.
installed rom files, not folders with roms in them and copied the roms over to launchbox.
Tested roms and they boot as expected.
Tried SNES, Genesis, zx spectrum and PSX Roms all boot fine.
So at this point I'm still running as the free version.
The next step I add my license file it registered fine, then tried the roms again all, fine.
So next I restarted Launchbox to make sure it wasn't a fluke and all was still fine.

So now I closed launchbox and launched Big Box --- this is where the problems start.
I takes 7+ Minutes for Big Box to open up and when it does I cannot really do anything with it.
it doesn't see any controllers - tried to set them up in the options, but it freezes Big Box. I tried with and without DS4windows running.
Tried again waiting for it to load up then tried to install a theme, in goes through the install process, but then Big box freezes if I try to set the install theme as the default.
So then I have to force quit Big Box, which has an effect Launchbox, that now when I start up a rom, it take about 2 -3 mins to boot, it opens retroarch, but in this 2-3 min the retroarch icon in the taskbar is blank until the game finally loads.
My only option then is to remove the license file from launchbox and reboot my PC, to get them roms to launch at an expected speed.

So to me it looks like a problem with Big Box or my license file ( which I did download a fresh copy too- still no luck)
I've just installed the upadate that just came out and no change.

So basically I can only run it as a free verison ( my controller does work with the roms though), but if I sdd my license and try to run Big Box everything falls apart.

I'm Stumpped
