Retroarch Block Lettering in Banners

Not sure what's going on here...  Just started launchbox, added my collection of NES games, downloaded retroarch as prompted by launchbox, launch game, and the letters on the retroarch banner are all blocks.  I was going to ignore it but then the problem persists with retroachievements banners as well.

I deleted the .cfg file and restarted it, that didn't work.  I downloaded retorach directly and booted a game and it worked fine.  So I deleted the retoarch inside the launchbox folder, added the retroarch I downloaded directly and tried to see if that would work... it did not.  Which means I think this is a launchbox issue rather than a setting in retoarch but idk.  Any ideas?

Not sure what you are talking about in regards to retroarch banners or retro achievement banners, and as Launchbox doesnt mess with any retroarch settings im finding it difficult to understand what you are saying. Can you please provide some screenshots of what youy are referring to here.

Oh, so you mean the retroarch notifications. Open retroarch and go to the online updater>update assets.

Just wanted to report back that the above solution corrected the issue for anyone else in the future that comes across this problems..
