Does a ROM title with "(Rev 1)" mean that it's newer?

I have two different copies of the same game.
One only has "(USA)" in the title.
While the other has "(USA) (Rev 1)".

I want to combine these in LaunchBox, but want the "newer" version as the default.

Which should I choose?

Yeah, the Rev 1 is the newer version of the game.

That all depends, sometimes the changes are to fix a major bug or sometimes it is a change to censor or change copyrighted content. Revenge of Shinobi for example had 5 versions (4 revisions) to change content based on licensing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Revenge_of_Shinobi_(1989_video_game)
