Moving platform to another location with subfolders

Hello, I want to move the roms from one of my platforms to another location.

The problem is that on this platform the roms are not in ZIP format. Each rom is located in a subfolder with its name and inside this folder is the .cue and .bin file.

The problem is that if I use the wizard to change the path of my roms I can only choose the top level and when importing the path is not correct, since the files are inside subfolders.

What can I do to move this platform to another location without having to re-import the games one by one?

Thank you.

you could open the platform's xml file and do a find and replace on the directory path. It's the <ApplicationPath> tag. If you do this, back up the file first.

Why should you import the game one by one?

technically they could have added the folder to import instead because it does search subfolders. I've done it for bin/cue files which were in individual game folders.....downside is it will list all the bin files too so you gotta delete all them out of the import list first. for ex add a Playstaion folder to import. now it will import all the folders in there which are individual game folders with bin/cue files in them, it would add all files present to the import list. so in the end, each method has a little bit of manual tinkering. doing it this way would also mean you lose specific entry data, such as number of plays and playtime, date added etc sort of stuff since they would be reset from deleting and reimporting them

I supposed that. And for this reason I have asked.

You can import only the files you need.

When you click on --->import--->rom files

it'll open a windows where you should choose the files, instead

you go in the right top corner and you insert, for example, *.cue and then click on the arrow.

The window will show you all the cue filesthat are in main dir and subfolders. Then you select all (click on the first and SHIFT+click on the last) and...voilà!

I hope it can help

I checked it out, the instructions are right there in plain sight which is great. I've literally never pulled up the import ROM files wizard like that. I always have dragged and dropped files/folders, right click and choose Add, or the games were launcher associated, like Steam, Uplay etc so uses those specific methods when doing the initial library import. I def would have assumed such a feature would only import files from a single directory, it's really using the search function of Windows Explorer that makes that idea work so well.

so thanks for pointing it out! I know there are lots of features I have yet to explore. I lurk these forums as much as I do trying to learn all these little nuggets of knowledge. I'll have to keep this ability in mind for future convenience.

I am very happy to help.

I can understand very well what you are telling me. LB is a great software but if you want to go deeper there are tons of features that are not to easy to discover! And it takes time. And usually I forget what I learn AHAHAHAH
