vince16
It's all in the title really. The last update, 13.9, has caused issues for us users of Windows 7 64 Bit. I for one cannot upgrade to Windows 10 or 11 right now. I'm not even sure there's a way to do that from Windows 7. So unless the team comes up with a fix soon, I'm simply deprived of Launchbox & Bigbox altogether, since the app flatout refuses to start now. I'd like to know if there's a way to fall back on version 13.8. Double clicking on LaunchBox-13.8-Setup.exe in the updates folder is not what I call falling back on 13.8, that's installing a separate instance of Launchbox... Aren't there just a couple files/folders to replace to fall back on 13.8? Any help would be appreciated.
Retro808
Go to your \Launchbox\Updates folder. Run the installer from the version you want. Make sure to look at the path it is installing. Make sure it is not \Launchbox\Launchbox. It needs to install to \Launchbox

I'm afraid it's just going to create another instance of LB/BB. Isn't there a simpler method?

So if your main LB folder is called something else it was not LB originated. Maybe rename that main folder Launchbox and then run the installer. When done name it back to what you originally had it as.
vince16
It worked, it seems. I think it has simply overwritten over version 13.9, thanks. Please tell me there is a fix coming to let us users of Windows 7 upgrade to Launchbox 13.9 and the rest at some point, pretty pleaaaase. I had high hopes for update 13.9 after hearing it was going to repair the lost compatibility with retroachievements, to which retroarch hasn't been able to log in in months. Playing my oldies with the achievements was so much better! Edited December 17, 2023 by vince16
vince16
Damn, I spoke too soon. Now no amount of double-clicking on either Launchbox or Bigbox will start any of the two... Heeeeelp

Not according to Jason's post about an hour ago. You will just have to reinstall the last version that worked for you then make sure you uncheck the box in your updates setting for “Automatic downloads in the Background”. This way you stay in that version.
