jmandmc
This question may also be a feature request: As you know, these days modern games will often appear both on console and Steam/PC. In Launchbox and bigBox, I like to display my games by their clear title graphics. On specific platforms - especially Windows and its Steam counterpart - those graphics are available in the Launchbox Media Database. However, for other platforms, that same logo (or other metadata) is not present and thus cannot be downloaded. My work around for this is the following: Switch the platform to Windows. Download the metadata and some of the media files, such as the clear title. Switch the platform back to the console I originally had. To anyone here, is there a feature in Launchbox that can automatically search across platforms for metadata and media if that media type is not present in the desired platform? I know this seems like a stretch, but often I must switch to Windows platform because Steam/PC's database on Launchbox is much more robust. I'd really like to grab that content to flesh out the metadata. Edited October 30 by jmandmc fix spelling
AstroBob
Hey @jmandmc, thanks for the question. You may want to check out this plugin from one of our community members that lets you scrape media from the website, Steam Grid DB. It only scrapes posters, banners and clear logos, but if you like to view games by logo this could work well for you. The nice thing is that it doesn't care what platform your game is on, since Steam Grid DB has entries for most games across all platforms, and they have a very good selection of clear logos. Give it a whirl, sounds like it could suit your use case quite well. Happy to answer any further questions on it if needed
Solution jmandmc Posted October 31 Author Solution Share Posted October 31 Oh wow - that sounds like a fantastic extension! That's pretty much what I need, as pretty much view only clear logos. Thanks!
