Anbernic RG cube

Hi everyone. I bought an Anbernic RG cube with android 13. I installed Launchbox and entered the license. I open Launchbox, import games, select the folder where the roms are (external sd..../launchbox/roms.). I select the platform, select the region and then import.
Manage emulators, download and install retroarch...
I open retroarch, download the cores (for example Mesen, nestopia for NES or bsnes, snes9x for SNES. Online updater and update everything. Now I go back to Launchbox, select a title, select the three dots in the top right, emulator setting and select retroarch and the correct core. I go back, start the game and... white screen and retroarch does not respond.
Should I use retroarch plus? Retroarch (32-bit sideloaded)? Retroarch (64-bit sideloaded)?
please help. thanks

Hi @bradipo666 thanks for the report here (and hope you are enjoying the RG Cube, heard great things about it!)

A few things to help try and narrow this down:

  • Does this happen for every system that uses RetroArch? Or are some systems able to successfully load?
  • If you open the RetroArch app outside of LaunchBox and try to load your core/game, do you get the same error?

Let me know and we'll try to get you sorted.

Cheers,

Thanks for the quick reply.
I noticed that the fbneo core works fine with RA & LB. Other cores like  nes, snes, N64 do not work.
Booting only from RA, everything works fine.
Ps: I would like to use only RA for emulation, nothing else ☺️
Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for the update. For your arcade platform that uses FB Neo and works correctly when using LaunchBox, when you edit the emulator settings, which emulator is it using (RetroArch, Retroarch (32/64-bit sideloaded etc?). And for the platforms that don't work, what do they have as the set emulator?

The only thing I can think of at this point is to rule out anything that LaunchBox might be doing that isn’t applicable when loading through RetroArch.

If you edit the platform, there are a few options to check:
    •    Default Core: I know you mentioned this already, but just to confirm, make sure the core you have selected is actually downloaded in RetroArch.
    •    Extract ROM Archives: If your ROMs are zipped, ensure this is turned on. Otherwise, leave it off.
    •    Verify Configuration: What happens when you select this? Does it flag any issues or provide helpful feedback?
    •    Open RetroArch: Does this open your current instance of RetroArch? It would be good to verify that you don’t have another instance installed and that LaunchBox isn’t pointing to the wrong one.

Retroarch for all platforms

If none of the above works, it might be worth changing to one of the other RetroArch options (sideloaded etc) to see if that makes a difference.

Hi there, thanks for bearing with me there. It's hard to say for certain but from your screenshots it looks like you do not have the retroarch core downloaded. For example NES, normally you'd see a little [#] on the right-hand side if it's installed.

Can you double check the core is properly installed and see if that helps? If that doesn't work, can you please try a different core for NES just to rule out compatibility with the Ambernic device(i.e try using mesen of FCEUmm, make sure it's downloaded and also set in LaunchBox)

Keep me posted

Hi Astroabob, I think I solved it. The cores are ok. The only thing I did was to insert all the bios into the system folder. Now everything seems to be fine. Thanks for your availability. Bye
