duhmez
VEry annoying situation, Iconfusing too. The 13.11 version. When i try to auto update I get an erorr it fails. I thought I would download new installer and trying to install over top. Is that a wrong way to do? Weirdest behavior, I explain. D:\Launchbox is where it is. If I try to install new version to d:\Launchbox it instead goes to d:\launchbox\launchbox If I try to install to d: it is not allowed, makes sense I bet. So O moved all my stuff into d:\launchbox\launchbox, my full build. Now I chose to install into d:\Launchbox\ and NOW it actually does install to d:\llaunchbox, again an empty folder and not updating. Would installing overtop totally break it? Could I just copy all the new launchbox folder overtop my old instalationmanualy or will that mean havoc? Alternately, should I just craft a new Lauchbox folder, then copy all my roms/images/videos etc into the fresh install and let the fresh instal detect everything? OUwld I maintain all setitngs htis way like ame high score is loggedf in, emumovies is logged in, etc etc?

If I try to install new version to d:\Launchbox it instead goes to d:\launchbox\launchbox When running LaunchBox-xx.xx-Setup.exe and setting the install location, the installer will add "LaunchBox" to the end of the location you chose. Just delete the trailing \LaunchBox before proceeding [when you see it doubled up]. And as you found/noted, you can't install it into a root Drive. 1 hour ago, duhmez said: Would installing overtop totally break it? No. Your saved data and imported games will remain when doing the update. 1 hour ago, duhmez said: ANd the error below Method not found: 'Void Unbroken.RushDownloader..ctor(System.String, System.String, Int32, Int64, System.String)'. Typically when this error occurs, it means that one of the program files somehow got corrupted. You can try reinstalling LaunchBox over your existing installation which will repair the file(s). Which you have done. So, this could indicate the ...Setup.exe file you have is corrupted. If you don't have a Premium license and you need the older version 13.11, contact support@unbrokensoftware.com and they should be able to help you with that. Worse case is there's something wrong with your license file. If you need to recover your license file, you can do so at https://www.launchbox-app.com/premium/lost-license. duhmez
Actually, I have not yet overwritten my old installation, the installer wuld not let me it wrote it elsewhere each time. I stopped at this point to ask advice, if I can just many overwrite all the files froma fresh install or that could cause issues. Thank you for reply, you are saying I should go ahead and copy the new files over top, I will do that now and cross fingers. I suspected this was safe but I wanted ot be sure. duhmez
Oh my, I might look stupdi here, I did not really try to install into root drive, but I tried because I thought the instaler would add the \Launchbox tom the base root I typed in, I have seen other installers that behave this way for various softwares. I like to keep alot of key apps right in d:\APPNAME for alot of things ^^ cheers

But don't do that. What was stated was "reinstalling LaunchBox over your existing installation"
duhmez
Hi again, I hear ya, I did not copy the files over top. However that is my issue. If I choose the same install folder, it is for some reason creatingf new subfolder. SO I chose d:\launchbox\'and it actually create a new folder d:\launchbox\launchbox and installs a fresh empty copy there. Is this expected behavior or a problem with this installer for this version 3.17?

duhmez
Final update, can close thread, thanks you so much for the help. My issue was, half the time I typed the path in the installer, th eother half I clocked BROWSE, and yes It added the extra launchbox to the path but just had to delete it. Now it instyaled intot he old folder perfectly and now it is able to update through the app as normal.
