Fursphere Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I hope this is the right place to ask this. I'm using the Unified Redux theme in BigBox on most of my cabs. My only compliant is that I'd like the platform theme to be the same "in" the platform (where the games are) and at the top level where you scroll through various 'platforms". (I hope that makes sense). I really do not like the full screen platform thematic videos you can download because they are a static list of repeating games, and may include games that I don't even have in my collection. So having the "in" platform view where it says what platform it is (aka - SNES) then in the video window box - it'll just pull random videos from games that are in my SNES collection. Is that possible? This view at the platforms wheel: (and not show the box) Quote
C-Beats Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Not entirely sure what you mean. You just want game videos to from your library to show in platform view? If you could create a little mockup in paint or GIMP that shows what you're trying for that may be beneficial. Quote
Fursphere Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 So.. my 'platforms' view just shows random videos from that platform full screen. I would like it to mirror the view when you enter the platform (screenshot above is IN the SNES platform). Instead of this: To something like this (please forgive my horrible ms paint skills). Quote

Yeah, you can do that, you'd just have to alter the theme view. I'd first check to see if that theme doesn't already have a view that looks like it (or close to it) first and then work from the one that is closest to what you want. Quote
Fursphere Posted Tuesday at 05:32 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 05:32 PM Unified and Unified Redux have no "system" theme (is that what the top level Platform view is called?). It just plays videos full screen and shows the platforms wheel. I tried the Community Theme Creation tool (evaluation - haven't decided if I want to pay for it yet) and couldn't make heads or tails out of how to find the "top level platform" view (system view?). Nothing lined up. Maybe its a limitation of the evaluation version, I dunno. At least I know its possible - not I just need to figure out how to do it. I know a tiny bit about XAML, so I guess I need to just dive in now. Quote
C-Beats Posted Tuesday at 05:41 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:41 PM If you're referring to the view files in a theme System view is the view that appears when you press back from the Platform view. The view that shows what platforms you have in a wheel is PlatformWheel#FiltersView (where the # is numbered 1-4). And yeah, for any theme not built in CTC you'd need to manually alter the XAML file Quote

Basically, you can set your system to start on any view by selecting the desired startup view in the settings of Big Box. However, it also depends on how your folder structure is organized! Some people prefer to launch by system category, while others go with playlists. I believe you can also start directly with your platforms, and more recently, there's the option to use the new discovery/trending menus. So, there are quite a few choices! 😆 But if I understand correctly, based on your screenshots, and assuming you’ve chosen to launch by categories first (like I do), you can set which view you land on at startup. You’d just need to modify the "Platform Vertical 1" view, for example. I can do it for you if you want—it would only take me about 3 minutes! That way, you can test it out. Quote
Pademonium bac Posted Thursday at 10:23 PM Posted Thursday at 10:23 PM There you go, I'm warning you, it's done quickly like a pig , you'll have to do a bit of cleaning and rezize , this is just to show you that it's possible, so your view is in platformview 1 and when you don't have a platform video assigned,( in launchbox) it shows you random videos of your games (I think that's what you wanted), it's up to you to play now.:) You can find the ctc source files of unified redux on the forum, they are available Desktop 2025.03.06 - 23.13.09.01.mp4 1 Quote
Fursphere Posted Thursday at 11:47 PM Author Posted Thursday at 11:47 PM thanks! I modified the Platform View 1 to get the "video box" in (stole the code from Game view 2). But I can't get the backgrounds to load for the life of me. Here is what I came up with.. its so close. PlatformWheel1FiltersView.zip Quote

PlatformWheel1FiltersView.zip 3.88 kB · 0 downloads The backgrounds are defined by default in the folder of the same name, you have to use the metadata so that it makes a match, it will go and look for them either by known platform name or by metadata. If you can't find the folder or background in the drop-down list, it could be a refresh, at worst you cheat and put the backgrounds in a folder that it finds and that you are sure you will never use (for example, it only finds the banner folder but not background = put everything in banner) And you don't feel guilty! The source files, if they are made available, are precisely to help you shape your interfaces as you wish! So you didn't steal, you copied Edited Friday at 06:47 AM by Pademonium bac Quote
