Hazuki Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Hi, I am about to start the adventure of a new build. I just got my new HDDs and I will be adding my games to them and starting over in Launchbox. There's a lot of old emus and app not used anymore, and the build has gotten a little cluttered and unorganized, so this time around I want to get everything organized in a good way from the beginning So I plan on organizing my roms something like this Roms |-- Consoles | |-- Nintendo GameCube | | |-- Nintendo GameCube | | |-- Nintendo GameCube (Japan) | | |-- Nintendo GameCube (Hacks) | | `-- Nintendo GameCube (Translations) I really want to separate my collection, having all non English games, hacks, fan translations separated, in folders. Stuff like hacks I'll be adding games from time to time. But the official releases are more or less add once and that's it. So on my test build, I have been trying a couple of things. A added the platform "Nintendo GameCube", Then I added a Platform "Nintendo GameCube (Japan)" Scraped as GameCube, and the parent being "Console Non-English", but this makes BigBox very cluttered, and that's not wat I wanted. So I thought that I'll add the "Nintendo GameCube (Japan)" as a child for the "Nintendo GameCube" platform. But a platforms can't be child for another platform. So it looks like playlists are my only option? In the platform "Nintendo GameCube (Japan)" I unticked the parent, and I made a playlist containing everything from this platform. Then I added this playlist as a child of "Nintendo GameCube". This way I thought that Id have all my Gamecube games in one place, with the Japanese games only showing up under there playlist. But when I go into BigBox, all I now see when I enter GameCube is my playlist, the games from this platform aren't shown. So I'm a little stuck to what to do now. Any ideas or suggestions? Quote
Solution C-Beats Posted July 8 Solution Posted July 8 The way the Platform Category View works is if the item selected has any children you go down a level and traverse them. If you're adding playlists under the console like that you need to create an "All" playlist as well and then you can enter it via that. See my Windows tree for example I have those ALL playlists there because you cant select the items above them directly in Big Box. If I click All in LB OR the item above it the same game list will show, so in LB they aren't super useful, but are required in BB navigation. In BB we'd really have no way when you pressed "Select" to know if you wanted to enter at the level you're on, or go down another level, so it was decided you always go down a level when possible. 1 Quote
Hazuki Posted Wednesday at 10:49 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 10:49 PM Thank you for your reply. I'll try it out tomorrow and see how it looks 😊 I now understand how it works. I just wish it would work the same in BB and LB. But I can't always what I want 😊 Quote
