Kennerdy Posted Friday at 01:58 PM Posted Friday at 01:58 PM Just as the title says. Click the icon, screen goes dark, PC resets. I thought perhaps it's an issue with the custom theme, deleted all themes besides the default themes. Still no dice. If I delete the startup video I was using, the PC no longer crashes, but it sits on the Big Box logo without advancing into the program (this occurs with or without restoring the deleted themes). I'm pretty frustrated with this as this is the only way I use this program. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Quote

Kennerdy Posted Saturday at 06:08 PM Author Posted Saturday at 06:08 PM Thank you very much for the suggestion and information. It's appreciated. I looked through the beta thread and tried rolling back my version to 13.22 but the problem now persists with that version of BigBox as well, This was never an issue prior to updating to 13.23. I have seen the new thread regarding this and will continue to monitor that as well. I will also be posting this information to that thread. Since my post this is what I have found. Both updated 13.23 and the rolled back 13.22 will crash the PC completely when a video is attempting to be played at startup (Screen darkens for approximately 2 seconds, followed by monitor dropping signal and PC rebooting). No crash report is produced with this. By removing the video, it no longer crashes the computer but does hang up on the Big Box logo. Nothing opens up, just the logo. The task manager shows BigBox as an application in the background, but idling more or less. This doesn't progress unless I actively close it (kill it), This doesn't produce a crash report with Bigbox. The windows error report for me mentions the program hangs. This occurs regardless of using a custom theme or the default. Video and audio files have also been removed. I also manually changed the video player in the .xml file. I have tried a fresh install of 13.23 and it opened Big Box without issue after initial setup. WMP was the selected video player. Upon adding in the startup video, Bigbox would again hard crash the computer. Once removing the startup video, this install proceeds to hang up in the same way the other install does. Windows 11 Radeon 780m, 16gb AMD Ryzen 9, 7940HS 64gb DDR4 Attached is the report that Windows provides. Thank you again to anybody that can help provide a solution and to the awesome people working on this amazing program. Bigbox Crashing.evtx Quote
Kennerdy Posted Sunday at 02:27 PM Author Posted Sunday at 02:27 PM Updating to 13.23 beta didn't help with the issues experienced. To work around the crashing on 13.22 (from the update to 13.23 and then rolling back), I re-installed a fresh 13.22 and then repopulated with the folders of the original (images, videos, etc) and then used a backup file for the data folder. For the time being, I will just use this version (13.22) and wait for a future update. Quote
Ateb Posted Sunday at 10:45 PM Posted Sunday at 10:45 PM I'm having a similar issue with this new version. If I have a startup video it will crash with this: Application: BigBox.exe CoreCLR Version: 9.0.825.36511 .NET Version: 9.0.8 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Stack: at Unosquare.FFME.Container.MediaComponent.DecodeNextAVFrame() at Unosquare.FFME.Container.MediaComponent.ReceiveNextFrame() at Unosquare.FFME.Engine.FrameDecodingWorker+<>c__DisplayClass3_0.<.ctor>b__4(Unosquare.FFME.Common.MediaType) at System.Threading.Tasks.Parallel+<>c__DisplayClass32_0`2[[Unosquare.FFME.Common.MediaType, ffme.win, Version=7.0.361.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null],[System.__Canon, System.Private.CoreLib, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e]].<ForEachWorker>b__0(Int32) at System.Threading.Tasks.Parallel+<>c__DisplayClass19_0`2[[System.__Canon, System.Private.CoreLib, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e],[System.Int32, System.Private.CoreLib, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e]].<ForWorker>b__1(System.Threading.Tasks.RangeWorker ByRef, Int64, Boolean ByRef) If I remove the startup video, I get nothing. No logo screen, no event log entry, nothing. Just an idle/hanging BigBox.exe in the Task Manager. Which I have to kill. I'll hold off upgrading my main system, until this is remedied. Quote
