LB Update v13.24 Mouse Input Issue

After updating Launchbox to the latest 13.24, I noticed that it made mouse clicks almost impossible. Mouse movement is smooth, but left or right clicks are not registered unless clicking about 10 times in one second as if something is causing input lag. I have installed twice to the same problem. Even minimizing Launchbox proceeds to cause the issue while trying to work with other applications. I also noticed while this is occurring I get two Lav filter icons in my taskbar (one red, one white) that disappear if you try to mouse over them. As soon as I close Launchbox, the issue goes away. I have reverted back to 13.23, and can confirm this solves the issue. Before typing this, I updated one more time to 13.24 just to confirm again that this issue is tied to 13.24. 

 

No action necessary for me, I am fine, and will wait for another update. I just wanted to make sure we had this on record in case others experience the same. Thank you community, and devs as always!!!

I also had that same issue with my mouse after updating however, the cursor movement was not smooth as well.  A few moments after closing Launchbox the cursor would return back to normal operation.  So I reverted back to the 13.23 version and its working well again.  I'll just wait for next update to try again.  Can't live without my Launchbox

Only times I've heard something like this reported is when in the Controller options you have "Enable All Controllers" selected. Some machines the scan for controllers seems to take longer than normal and the polling logic causes some systems to lag out the mouse when it's doing so. If you turn that option off I'd assume your mouse would go back to working the way it should. Let us know if that's not the case though.

Thank you very much for the reply C-Beats.  Yes, I did try disabling that option and restarting Launchbox but it made no difference unfortunately.  I also reinstalled 13.24 a few times but for some reason in my setup there must be some sort of conflict or interference somewhere as it keeps occurring.  Not really a problem though as going back to the previous version removed the mouse issue completely.  I'll play around with my settings on 13.24 a bit more, update any drivers if necessary and see if I can find a way to get it to clear up the issue otherwise I'll just hang on till a new version drops.  If I get it working properly I'll post what was wrong in case anyone else experiences it.  You guys are a terrific community and I really appreciate the support and everything I've learned using these forums!  Cheers.

C-Beats I did as well to no luck. I'd also like to note I haven't adjusted those settings in probably 4 years and it was fine until now through all versions (on mine). I had never encountered this issue prior. Revert works.

I just tested this again with 13.25 Beta !. Problem still persists. Still not sure what is causing this one. Dropping back to 13.23 again until another Beta release.

*Edit* It's still an issue, just happens less often.

@C-Beats @____AiR____ I was able to test 13.25 Beta 3, and can confirm it is now solved. Hopefully 13.25 stable will have the solution moving forward.

Nice!  Thanks very much for the heads up neosean99.  I'll definitely update after that version is released. I'm kind of curious what the actual issue was as I never experienced that before but regardless, glad to know its resolved.

I meant to come back and edit what I previously wrote. It is not fixed on Beta... It's just less prominent. After some time of Launchbox or Big Box being open it will happen sometimes still. Tonight I noticed a new one... the mouse cursor dragged up my screen constantly with Launchbox open after the bug kicked in. Took about 15 minutes of being in Launchbox. I was trying to edit some of my VPX tables and it just kind of went haywire. I couldn't get it to stop until I closed LB. Once closed, all was well again. I also encountered a bug on all 3 Beta's where after closing a game BigBox would freeze on returning. Would have to manually close out in Task Manager as closing BB would still leave itself open in Task Manager. I'm starting to get a little frustrated with it as I was excited to get the new screensaver mode running with my VPX tables... and it looks gorgeous, but this is not worth it. I still find it odd that I haven't read too many other reports of this. I can say 100% it's something in LB. I've run this build for 5+ years, and it was not an issue until after 13.23. I've also tested 2 other PC's with different mice / keyboards / and gamepads with the same result.

I just tried the new update to 13.25 on my PC laptop and yes I still have the mouse slow dragging issue all over again.  It might be slightly better performance overall compared to the 13.24 download I previously tried, but not a great deal more and it definitely makes the latest version of Launchbox basically unusable for me.  All my drivers are up to date and working.  This does not happen with any other software program on my laptop.  In any case I've reverted back to 13.23 version again and all is well once more.  Like you I've been using Launchbox for a quite a few years and mouse functionality has never been a problem.  I thought more people would be discussing this problem in the Launchbox discord forums if but not that I've found so far.  Maybe there is a quick fix inside the application but I tried several things without any success.  Its interesting that you tried 2 other PC's as well and experienced the exact same problems on both of them.  Until I came across your post I thought it was just me having this particular problem and assumed it has to do with my settings.  Well I keep hope alive and I'm certain they will resolve this by 13.26 at the latest.  Appreciate you keeping me updated in this thread newsean99.

I had this same issue and it cleared up when I went to Tools/options/Game Controllers and unchecked the box on Enable Game Controllers then relaunched Launchbox. I'm using Ver. 13.25

@____AiR____Give DemonCore's solution a try. It does not solve my issue, but may for you. Worth a shot. I also never had "Use all controllers" selected. The problem I have with disabling Game Controllers completely is the fact that is what LB is for right? To use a controller with the interface? IDK... I'm real tired of fighting this. No offense to anyone, but I am just glad I am not alone. That is clearly visible now. v13.23 or v13.25beta3 are the only viable options for now, and v13.23 is the only thing that solves it for good on my end still. Full version v13.25 is kind of a mess. Myself, and quite a few other people have lit up the forums since its release. They've stated they have a hotfix coming for some of the issues. Fingers crossed?

Thanks DemonCore.  I tried this as a potential solve option back when I started using the 13.24 version without success, and so I just tried it again on 13.25 and no luck for me unfortunately.  That's good if others are working on a solve for it though.  I am also glad it's not just me experiencing this, it makes both 13.24, 13.25 unusable for me unfortunately.  I even tried a different mouse so see if it was more of a hardware / driver thing but I had the same results produced as before.   Well, I'm good with 13.23 for now anyway this was just more of a curiosity thing about why on earth suddenly after using the program (I love Launchbox) for so many years problem free that the issue developed.  Maybe its the universes way of telling me to just upgrade to BigBox which I do actually want to do... I'll hold out I think until that black friday deal shows up again lol.  Thanks for the help guys its appreciated.  I'll definitely check back in here to see if anything new develops.
