Nixx Posted yesterday at 05:13 AM Posted yesterday at 05:13 AM Can you explain why in this case, it downloaded only one image, and why the World version ? https://streamable.com/t96sw6 Even if i uncheck world, it still download World I tried with super mario kart on SNES, it downloaded the french cover just fine, but i soon as i edited one of the front as world or empty, it download it instead regardless of priority Without altering the dbb, if you take for exemple a game like COMMAND CONQUER RED ALERT 3, it's impossible to download the french Box - Front It always downlaod the World version, regardless of your Region option. Nixx Posted 19 hours ago Author Posted 19 hours ago Got more insight from JoeViking245 & C-Beat on discord. So seems like to have the game in french, you must edit the metadata of the game itself and set it to Region France, especially on windows game, since it wont be able to detect that on his own. To quote C-Beat : "The game region is selected first. Then world. Then no region. Then region priority setting is used (as memory serves at least)" So now, i understand why it does that, but i still think it's wrong. If i set my top priority as French, i expect my metadata in french if it's availiable, period, regardless of the version of the game itself. Quote
C-Beats Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Region priority is almost exclusively used for selecting top priority rom path when importing multiple versions of a game at the same time (for the first time) in LaunchBox. During the combine process we use that list to decide which ROM should be the primary path. From there all downstream logic where possible we selected regionally accurate information for the primary version of the game, falling back to those priorities where it makes sense. The logic being at the time this was all written (well before I started) was that if you wanted French information just use the French version of the game. That being said only media/title can even use regional specifics since our DB is English only at the moment. Not trying to assign good/bad to the logic in question. Just informing you what the application is set to do currently as well as the headspace at the time it was implemented (as far as I understand it). If you'd like us to consider something else I'd submit a feature request for it. This one has come up in the past so there likely is one already you could simply upvote. Quote
