viritys Posted Wednesday at 11:13 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:13 AM I'm running 13.25-beta-3. When the daily metadata update starts, it goes around smoothly up until we get to the "validating metadata database"-phase, which takes about fifteen minutes. I can live with it, but it's not optimal. It used to be just a few seconds to a minute before the update. I do have a large collection and I'm assuming it has something to do with it. Quote

What steps are you doing to [daily] update the metadata? I presume you're talking about the updating of the local Games Database Metadata. Which should only update if you do something that accesses it. e.g. Force Update it or are adding new games or Update Metadata and Media for selected games. Or maybe I'm mistaken and it does do some automatic daily update in the background (or not so in-the-background as you're seeing) that I've never noticed. Quote
viritys Posted Wednesday at 03:37 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 03:37 PM (edited) I'm a retro game collector like many people here, so yeah, I do click "search for metadata" on the edit game window on most days ie whenever adulting, kids, wife or my other hobbies don't keep me away II'm adding missing games and/or fixing mistakes to gamesdb and it starts by making sure someone else hasn't already done it before by clicking "search for metadata" for the game. Not a fix nor a workaround (especially if it doesn't prove well ), but a test of sorts... Tomorrow (or the "next day"), before doing any "Search", run Tools < Download < Force Update Games Database Metadata... and see if that process is any better (faster). When that's complete, then do your searches. 1 Quote
viritys Posted 47 minutes ago Author Posted 47 minutes ago My man! It worked \o/ For whatever reason the verification either doesn't happen or if it does, it does so silently in the background. Here, have a cake! Quote
