What would happen if I replace this file?

What would happen if I replace a xml data file such as the ones in the folder LaunchBox\Data\Platforms? I'm asking before I try it because while I can back up a file I'm worried restoring a file might affect other files and I don't want to create a domino style problem.

The reason I'm asking is I'm having a problem that nobody seems able to solve here 

My last computer (which was window 10) played the games just fine but something happened when I started playing on my new computer (which is windows 11). I think a setting got changed so I want to replace the data file for windows 98 games because those are the only games affected.

They worked just fine when I started playing them in my new computer but because the keyboard of my new computer was different I ended up pressing some keys that made the game, and others like them, not work in launchbox. I had keyboard problems like not having a scroll lock key for my emulator and pressing keys that affecting the emulator and the game in the emulator. And then Launchbox doing weird things with that entire category of games.
