BigBox freezes when exiting the new Halo Campaign Evolved

Just like the title says. None of my other PC games causes Bigbox to freeze when exiting just this one. I go back to Bigbox when I exit through the game back to desktop but Bigbox is frozen. I tried clicking my mouse to regain focus but nothing works? Anyone else run into this or know a solution?

Startup/Shutdown has been overhauled in the 13.28-betas.  Not sure if it'll fix the issue with this one game.

You can opt into the beta releases under Tools < Options < General < Updates (if you so desire to test and provide feedback).  Or wait for the Official release.  I don't know the ETA for the 13.28 Official release.

Sorry should’ve mentioned I’m running the newest beta. I guess I thought it was more of a problem with this games exit than the beat since all my other pc games exit fine.

Ah Ok.  Sounds like it may be the game then.  Is it a stand-alone exe? Or are you running it through Steam?  Is it only in Big Box this happens? Or does it cause issues when ran through LaunchBox as well?  If you have startup screens enabled for it, can try turning them off [for process-of-elimination testing].

To clarify, when you say "exit through the game", you're exiting through the games' Menu?  Vs. exiting using Big Box's controller mapped Close the Active Window.

Thanks Joe. I will try through Launchbox but yes this is a stand alone exe happening in Bigbox when I exit through the games menu.

Forgot to mention when this game closes I don't see the new shut down screen in the latest beta saying something like exiting game I believe. It just goes to the wheel then freezes.

Halo gets stuck in Launchbox also so its probably just the way the game is exiting?

Did you try disabling Startup Screens?  (not sure if it'll change anything, but worth testing)

Edit game. (left panel) scroll to the bottom Startup/Pause. Check Override Default Startup Screen Settings.  Click OK to save and close.

I just did that in launchbox and same thing. I  noticed everything was frozen in Launchbox but I could still control my mouse cursor with my xbox controller but it was so laggy and slow.  I had to control alt delete to get out of launchbox. I couldn't just hit hit X. 

If I close the game with alt f4 launchbox doesnt freeze?

When you Ctrl+Alt+Del, are you restarting the whole PC at that point?  Or selecting Task Manager and just force closing (End Task) LB?

It's weird that it's just locking up LB/BB (vs. the whole PC).

I missed this earlier.  Are you saying the when you launch the game from LB, and you press Alt+F4, there are no issues with it closing and LB regaining focus?  Or was that an actual question? I don't own the game, so can't test.

Sorry yes if I use alt and f4 on my keyboard to close the game Launchbox regains focus and there is no problem. I can use select start on my controller to exit emulators but not for my pc games because  I figured them the games wouldn’t be saved that way.

Using "select start on my controller to exit emulators" essentially the same as pressing Alt+F4.  

The Exit Game (LB) and Close the Active Window (BB) will "press" Escape. If the emulator stays active, it will then "press" Alt+F4.  At least that's my understanding.  You can test it by making a backup of your save(s), then play the game a little and press your button-combo to close it.  If it does work to close it, then restart the game and see if all's still good.

Must have been a fluke the two times it worked because now when I exit with alt f4 Bigbox freezes and same with the Xbox controller when I try closing the active window.

Well dang it.  With that, I'm out of ideas.

Hopefully someone who has this game and knows a fix/work-around will chime in.
