About This File

Hi guys. This theme was created based on the glorious theme for Emulation Station called Hypermax.

I have tested it on my 55 inches TV screen and it looks amazing.
Theme runs fast and I did not have performance issues.

The theme has 04 platform/Game views - like shown in the video,
with right and left wheels positions to please everyone.

Features:
* Support for 121 platforms (Platform Clearlogos/Controller/Console images already included);
* Light animations - performance should not be an issue;
* The theme has its own platform logos, some were present on original Hypermax, and others were created by me;
* It also includes an image for each console and each console's controller.
* Platform Videos used/shown in the Youtube theme video can be downloaded here:
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/uxxbc2bxu3pbb/Hypermax_Videos
(Access the above link and choose the platform video you wish and download it)

Installation:
* To install/use the theme, just unzip it in the folder Launchbox\Themes and set it in Bigbox.
* Go to Bigbox Menu > Manage Themes > Installed - All > Hypermax Refried > Apply as Main Theme

Changing Views:
* Go to Bigbox Menu (press esc) > Manage Theme Specific Options > Hypermax Refried > Views > and Select your Desired "Platforms List View" and "Games List View" - or
* If you are using a joystick, press down L3 (Left analog stick) to access the Views menu and change the view
(when you press down L3 on platform view you will be able to change "Platforms List View" and when you press Down L3 on Games View, you will be able to change "Games List View")

Tips:
* Set Bigbox to skip game details for more similarity to Emulationstation:
* Go To Bigbox Menu > Options > General > Skip Games Detail Screen

Extra Tips:
* Each platform has a character PNG/wallpaper background JPG that can be changed/included by the one you wish.
Just replace the png/jpg in MEDIA/Character and MEDIA/Background Wallpaper folders, for the ones you want following
your platform name.
Paths:
Character: LaunchBox\Themes\Hypermax Refried\Media\Characters
Background Wallpaper: LaunchBox\Themes\Hypermax Refried\Media\Background Wallpaper

CTC Files:
* I'm releasing the CTC files up with the update 2.1 so you can use Community Theme Creator and edit the theme
and make the changes you want or even create a whole new theme.
* To use CTC Files, Just unzip the file to the folder "My Theme Projects" in your Community Theme Creator install directory.
* Open CTC choose Hypermax Refried and make the changes you want and export the theme

Credits:
* For @y2guru for providing the the amazing tool -  Community Theme Creator 2.5.5 used to assemble this theme;
* For the original logos (non-rounded ones): all credit goes to Dan Patrik for his amazing work;
* Characters pngs and background wallpapers: all credit belongs to their original creators whoever they are;
(I've just found them online hosted on several websites)
* For the original creator of Hypermax Theme for EmulationStation;
* For Platform Videos: they were gathered from multiple resources - Credit belong to their original creators;

Please enjoy.

I was wondering if you had a link if okay to his video pack? Looked at Arcade Punks and am coming up empty.

Videos were gathered from many sources. I will upload them somewhere and share it here when I update the theme.

After installing the theme, go to bigbox menu and set the theme as Hypermax refried. If you use a joystick, by pressing down L3 (left analog stick) will allow you to change the view.

You can change the views like this:

* Go to Bigbox Menu (press esc) > Manage Theme Specific Options > Hypermax Refried > Views > and Select your Desired "Platforms List View" and "Games List View" - or
* If you are using a joystick, press down L3 (Left analog stick) to access the Views menu and change the view
(when you press down L3 on platform view you will be able to change "Platforms List View" and when you press Down L3 on Games View, you will be able to change "Games List View")

Is there anyway to slow down or stop the zooming in & out of images? Also, Vertical Wheel Image #4 has upside down logos in the pointers.

Unfortunately no, that's the way the theme is setup - regarding the zoom in/out. Abut the Pointers, they are like this. You can create your own and replace the ones you do not like. Just to go Media Folder Pointer Left and change for the ones you like.

I plan on releasing the CTC files so you can use Community theme creator and customize the theme the way you desire.

Very nice work, I have been using this theme on the Pi4 for a couple years now and have added alot of assets along the way for custom collections etc (character, backgrounds, controllers, consoles) the original theme has quite a few different views, Hopefully you keep on this theme, I could possibly share assets when I get things organized from Pi to PC. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, thank you. Yes I use Hypermax Theme Version 8+. Indeed it has so many views, I just included the ones I think are the most beautiful and added some details like the console, changed the position of some items and added a few others.

I am studying to make a version with more game details and later on update the wheel to be more like Emulationstation when the feature gets added by Bigbox Team and CTC.

Looking forward to updates.. ok so I have the Platform view on the left side and games view on the right. The left side is good, as wheel logos are not cut off. If you look at the right side game logos the bottom and top get cut off slightly. What value can I modify to fix this for the gamelist right side view?

This is tricky and not easy to solve and there is not an option to "adjust" this within BIgbox,

I've tried to make the best way possible because the fix would be to reduce/increase the items size and adjust wheel position....but they would not look good for me...

As you can see, mine is also a little bit cut when the wheel is on the left:

image.thumb.png.8a96b31f2aff86738c85907ddb5404d2.png

and in the right:

But, you can download Community Theme creator and download the theme CTC files and try by yourself and customize the way you want.

Ok I see, thanks for the clarification. I may try the theme creator app soon.

When I was developing the theme I also did not like the way it was cutting the edge. I have even messaged @y2guru about this - here

You will see that his reply is "Increase the wheel width then reduce item size to compensate "

Ok, I also wanted to point out... in 'platform view' the wheels do not get cut off. There must be a way to duplicate the display properties from platform view to game view maybe?

They also do, it depends on the logo size/format, if you keep scrolling, you will notice that some are not cut and some are, due to their sizes and logo designs.

Hi,

I have installed the theme in the right folder. I apply it but it shows a lot different from what I see.

I can apply and view other installed themes correctly. Screen.bmpscreen2.bmp

Can anyone help me, please?

By your pictures, you are still using the default theme. Please do the following to use the theme:

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I usually do it in that way. I usually prefer to push L3 to set the Themes. I have tried also with the option menu.

ScreenSel.bmpWhen I switch from a theme to Hypermax theme BB shows me the theme that you have called "default", I didn't remember that it was the default one. ^_^

So, I can say that BB does not load Hypermax theme and switch to default one. Trying the other themes, BB loads them correctly.

***Solved, deleting the Hypermax dir and unzipping again in the dir...I think that there was something wrong with dir structure.

Now it works!

Thank you for reading!

Yeah, I think it is a great theme. I am trying to change some image. I like very much the round circle view. But I think that to emphatize it better it needs some specific video, like some that you have shared. So, meanwhile, I use the rectangle version.

Here a Mattel Intellivision Character. It is not perfect but I think that can be used.
