DESCRIPTION:

Hello everybody, I want to start by wishing all of you a festive month of October. Ahhhhh....I forgot what to write here. Umm, October is one of my favorite months, the whole family joins in on some good ol scares and such. Spooky movies, hay rides, you name it we do it. This all started when I felt discouraged that I couldnt add more holiday stuff to one of my other themes. Since it was solely focused on my game collection, it left little room to be truly frightful with my addon. So I thought, I'll just make another theme made just for Halloween. I got the idea from many other theme devs here that have made novelty themes of their own. I figured why not take a stab at a novelty BigBox Halloween theme myself this year, it started off harmless enough but snowballed into something else along the way. I planned to make a simple thing, but alas I cannot. Everything I touch turns into a huge thing, every time, never fails. This theme is no exception, it's a monster. It's packed with all kinds of creepy bells and whistles. Which I will list some of them below:

  • 17 Custom edited movie clips with jump scares added! (by me so dont expect anything too spectacular haha, still cool tho)
  • Bonus view with over 60+ old halloween commercials that play randomly on a old beat up tv in the Crypt.
  • Totally immersive Commercial room, has by the hour day/night cycle and other secrets.  
  • Hidden stuff all over. Sometimes watching a whole video deems a reward. 
  • Totally immersive Halloween experience.
  • Guaranteed at least 1 laugh, and at least one scare

THIS THEME ONLY WORKS ON HALLOWEEN DAY!!!!! THERE IS A TRICK TO UNLOCKING IT THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO FIGURE OUT ON YOUR OWN UNTIL AFTER HALLOWEEN. 

 

VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED:

Do not worry, I didn't add anything too graphic. No people getting torn apart, ripped open, or anything with too much gore. There is cussing, blood, weird stuff, creep, spook, alot of funny humor, nothing that would be deemed highly inappropriate. I know your looking at that movie list and thinking, did he really post clips from silent hill pyramid head? I did, but I heavily modified alot of the clips they are not what your used to watching. I removed things, cut stuff out, all that stuff. Its safe, I promise. 

That being said, it's not for the kiddies. I won't tell you what to let your kids watch, but you have been warned. I added parental advisory logos to anything with cussing, or sometimes because of zombie stuff or blood. 

 

THIS THEME CONTAINS JUMP SCARES, AND ALL AROUND CREEPY THINGS. DO NOT USE THIS THEME IF YOU HAVE A HEART CONDITION, OR ANY OTHER HEALTH RELATED ISSUES THAT MAKE IT SO A JUMP SCARE MIGHT HURT YOU!!! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!

HOW DO I USE THIS:

Install it just like a normal BigBox theme. If it doesn't boot directly into Platform View 1 when started, hit your view hotkey and switch to it. That's the main menu. It should boot to that by default, but it loads whatever view you quit on so it changes. 

It also sometimes loads another theme if you have "remember separate view for each platform" enabled. When that happens just hit your theme hotkey and switch to this theme.

This is just a novelty theme and does not work well for playing games, only spooks.

I spent more time on this than I'd like to admit, I don't want anything in return aside from your comments about your experience with it. At first it was just me making this but after a week or so of Halloween music and creeps blaring from my room, the whole fam got involved. We did ALLLLL this just to read the comments about how you needed a change of pants when you were done with it. We all would like to hear if you think it was funny, if it brought back old memories, did it get ya?, etc. Don't let me down, give us what we desire, it's free. Muha. Muhaha. Muhahahahahaha

I feel bad for making people wait, i prefer to make people happy so i'll be nice today. I also realized I need to get this tested out before the big day on more than just my pc. So here we go, the test build. Although this theme is designed to only be functional on Halloween day, i did implement a unlock feature that unlocks it 365 days a year. This version is basically a completed version, minus some of the bonus reward stuff for watching a video, which is usually another small video. It also has a bugged Vertical View 2 (Jeepers Creepers). idk if this is because i am using a version of LB with the faulty video stuff, or if its truly bugged but it doesn't load atm (for me anyway). I'll add a workaround in the final version, which I will upload sometime later this week. 

Even though the theme is locked down until Halloween, you can still check out the music on the settings page. You can spend the rest of the month trying to unlock it on your own, it has everything you need to unlock it already inside it, I won't stop you. Unlocking it shouldn't be hard to figure out if you load it up and watch the -removed- video, then look inside the Media folder of the theme. I do realize this can be annoying but it's part of the fun. I will be adding instructions on how to unlock it in the thread, for anybody thats imPatient. I might do this after Halloween, idk yet. If it truLy aggravates you just DM me, i'll tell you. Just don't spoil the surprise for others. Remember, the theme has everything it needs to bE unlocked already included inside it, just loAd it up, get a feel for whats happening, then do a bit of rooting around inside the themes Media/_Settings folder. Did I say that out loud? Well. Might help you figure it out on your own. I would like to see figure it out without me, the feeling of satisfaction will be greater. Will seem cheap if I immediately give the unlock method away in the thrEad. Hope you guys understand. 

You'll know when you've unlocked it. I know you don't know what awaits you behind that veil...but I bet it's not what your expecting. In a good way. I can feel the curiosity building...the way it eats at you, it can't be healthy. Samuel Jackson just keeps yelling PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Gah, it sounds like madness...but it's now your reality. The curiosity, it picks at you...pick pick pick. Day after day after day. What's behind the curtain? Does this all sound like the ranting of a madman? Pshhh. Maybe. Download it and see for yourself if you think I'm crazy. I mean, I am crazy but I swear it's the theme! Damn thing is cursed I tell ya. If you finally figure out a way to crack this baby open, feel free to say you got it in the comments just don't spoil it for everybody else.
