since your so obliging, if your trying to futureproof or stay one step ahead (and it doesnt take a huge amount of effort) you can always knock off PS4 and Xbox One, so its done.
those'll be next on the list coming to a pc near youXbox One might be a minute lol, but ps4 is already deep in development.

Thanks I just turned it off. As an alternative you can just set a controller combo in RA to close RA that is what I have always done the same for MAME or any emulator that supports it. If the program itself can terminate itself why use 3rd party.
yea this isnt ideal for me due to wanting ease of use and uniformity i guess. For those emulators that only allow certain keys, or no key combos etc. Much prefer the frontend to handle it. Plus the pause screen functionality seems to not be being passed as well so it has potential implications beyond the scope of the post.
thats for bearing with the new-user onslaught. Im like the nightmare-user due to my ocd perfectionism with such things (even though i know this doesnt fall in that category persay) -

In the newer version of RA I had to start hitting escape twice when exiting as it would prompt me to confirm the exit. I think there is a setting for this somewhere but haven't browsed through the menu for new items so not sure but might be something to look at.
odd, i never got notified of all these replies or woulda gotten to them sooner. sorry gentlemen.
As for pictures of my settings, Ill get em up at some point today. Gotta do some adulting first unfortunately. I did disable that ESC twice setting in retroarch (even though i prefer it on - if it affects this which it probably does, ill have to make the concession).
i had always assumed that somehow LB simply shuts down the exe, not that it used the emulators built in shut-down hotkey as some emulators dont even have that i believe. Anyways. it is what it is. That setting had no bearing as I never even receive the initial popup RA would give (press again to shutdown) if you have the setting enabled. Also no bueno with cemu or pcsx2.
You guys are all on 10.5? Anyone running an xbox one bluetooth controller? (i did try wired and wireless, and with steam open and closed since it likes to muck with controls in unpredictable ways at times and wanted to eliminate that variable) -

I just uploaded a new archive that should cover all the latest requests. Please keep your requests and feedback coming.
jesus - you savage!

I'm sure i speak for everyone - gargantuan service to the community! -
So ive been at this a few hours now, between frustration and the risk of burning an entire day trying to get a basic functionality working - I have to plead for help.
The short of it is, I cannot get the exit emulator functionality working. I tried two different button combos in 10.5, neither worked in retroarch so I thought perhaps it was a retroarch thing. Tried cemu and pcsx2, same result.
launchbox seems to be not passing the keys for some reason or another as the pause screen combo seems to be not working as well. (although to be fair i could be using that incorrectly as I see a Game Pause option with a binding and a Show pause screen option with a binding, so not sure which I'm supposed to bind).
Either way, of much higher priority is finding out why I cant exit emulators with a button combination.
taking all suggestions. (and yes i checked within retroarch, escape is still set as the exit key and as such, works if i hit esc on the keyboard just fine).
wish i could say it worked before, but I'm brand new to LB/BB and just getting things set up. -
you are the best

lol just found this ala google. (so resourceful am I looking for solutions :P)
I'm using the default theme and like the OP - my PSX spins just fine. I load something else like wii U, it does not. -
oooh. One more request. I know I saw you mention you were waiting for the last of it to trickle in before releasing your next pack so I figured id better (even though i feel bad).
Atari Jaguar CD & SNK Neo Geo AES (console)also Sony PSP Minis (though one could argue you could repurpose most of the PSP assets depending on how creative one is)
dont feel obligated of course. If its something youd never use, than I understand if you didnt want to invest the time
(and the newer stuff like xbox/360/ps3/switch/wii U/vita needs love, but i imagine your well aware)Now i believe my request quota has been filled for life (and just about anything anyone else can request has been taken care of lol) im going to go wash myself.

sega 32x CD and my life is complete /hides.
thanks a ton, this is huge! -
ha, found the happy medium. You can pick. Here's a half a dozen to choose from. Various incarnations of the ps3 from various angles etc. Unless something generic is more your speed. Also a simple PS3 logo (might look best/be most easily identified). Anything is better than nothing imo lol.
PS3ICO.zip
since im a beggar who thinks he can be a chooser - when you do that wee lil update, if its not a lot of work - and you dont mind the change... updating it from Import Ps3 Games to Import PS3 Games would be cool too. Im a OCD perfectionist who takes far too much pride in this sort of thing. Obviously ?

that would be a huge boon in and of itself. I guess ill go hunting for a fitting icon for the current plugin for ya
putting me in a spot here - im about as creative as a dead bunny rabbit lol -
yep, im only a good 3 years late on this one, but did anyone ever come up with assets for this platform? Juuust ran into this
-
yea it has a similar'ish folder structure. and they do have an eboot.bin (even though thats not how vita3k launches the games, actually launches from the gamefolder itself aka PCSE00261) also has a param.sfo.
Will give it a test at some point. Would be no good if it imported to the ps3 platform anyhow as cleaning that out would potentially be a messStill, would let ya know if it worked persay.
As for modifying the code - i wish. Programming wasnt in the cards for me. Will be taking it to my grave as one of my bigger regrets but i digress. They say its never too late, but tell me that with 2 toddlers hanging from the fans lol.
Anyways, as for the icon - does it need to be like... an .ico file, or a specific reso or? -
worked a treat! Only request I have, and boy is it a minor one (dont hate me for being ocd) is to add an icon to the context menu for importing ps3 games. Just so it looks nicer
One thing to note/mention, if you use the manage>virtual file system to move the hdd0 to the same location as you have your games, selecting the root directory hits all the pkg games and disc games in one go.
As i was doing it I was concerned, but concerns were unfounded.
I actually have a !RPCS3 folder (so its at the top) which houses all the virtual file system stuff from rpcs3 (dev_hdd0 and hdd1) then outside the !RPCS3 folder are all my disc titles in their respective folders.
It dove down through the !RPCS3 directory, through the hdd0 directory, and into the individual games - as well as the disc games all in one go.
perfection. Thank goodness for guys like youNow if we only had a means to do this for WiiU
at least thats a smaller library by magnitudes.
I wonder if this would handle Vita stuff. Doubt it as i dont "think" that uses eboot, but i might be wrong. About to revisit that sometime today.-

you see, that list shows as NEC TurboGrafx......
ill try renaming regardless
my problem entries ftr (typed exactly as they are/all pulled from default platform list)
ColecoVisionGCE Vectrex
Mattel Intellivision
NEC TurboGrafx-16
NEC TurboGrafx-CD
Nintendo Switch
Sega CD 32X
SNK Neo Geo AES
SNK Neo Geo CD
SNK Neo Geo Pocket Color
Sony Playstation (has platform image but logo generic)
Sony PSP Minis
If anyone can confirm which one of these do in fact/should in fact have art "out of the box" and which ones need to be managed by the user (in a perfect world) it would be helpful.
For the ones with more potentially obvious solutions (like with company name preceding, ill try a rename)
if it does turn out to be a naming discrepancy ill submit a bug report at some point today.
1 thing at a timeStill cant get the ui picking up my desktop wallpaper right lol.

aaaaaah. didnt think of that potential angle. So launchbox default platforms are giving the wrong name, or the artwork is named incorrectly to match up with it, either or is up to the person that implemented it i guess.
So would changing the name of the platform cause it to populate, or does this only happen at the time of creation and thus would require a new playlist?
Anywhere we can source the actual list of the way they should be named? So i can discern what is a case of not being included, vs a case of a naming discrepancy? -
yea, probably wrong terminology. wrote that from the gym lol.
so what your saying is either, theyre no longer included with launchbox, they never were, or they should be?
I got my launchbox from the source, as thats the only place you can afaik. Ive updated only via the guis update option. My playlists arent altered, theyre exactly as launchbox imports them from the dropdown (aka not a naming thing)....
so not sure what to say /shrug just an observation.
EDIT - looked in the launchbox>images>platforms section and NEC TurboGrafx-16 folder is there, but inside contains no images. TG16-CD doesnt even exist. ColecoVision is another one thats barren.
Only thing i can think of if these are "supposed" to be there is that running the media cleanup purges them if you dont have a platform with them set up at the time of running perhaps?
Gonna check on an untouched install on my backup pc. (its my reference install :P)
EDIT2 - ok, i think im misunderstanding you or something. If theyre included with launchbox, theyre definitely not present on my untouched install. None of them are. Unless theyre obfuscated/compressed/hidden somewhere until a playlist is created. In that case, it still begs the question why many of us are missing the same images for the same platforms. At what point they populate/where they come from - im unsure, but if someone were able to upload the full platform set it would be awesome -
Just found this ala google due to the same issue with at least a half a dozen platforms. Plain text and no platform images in bigbox.
seems like it should be working but isnt for some people? Like everyone here, scraped every single one via a default platform from the drop down.

I didnt know it could be moved but should be fine. Just point the folder dialog to where the dev_hdd0/Game folder is.
excellent, thanks again!
will let ya know how it goes. And yea, it can be moved, any of the emulated hdd directories can. under the manage tab > virtual file system. I think i moved that and the shader directory or some such. Its been a few-

Yeah it handles disk games. As long as the folder structure isn't to wild. It handles pkg games as long as they are installed. The folder structure between the 2 in regards to the location of the eboot to where the param.sfo is, is the same. The only difference that needed to be taken in consideration in regards to folder structure is i use the parent or parent of parent directory to compare against already imported games so not to import the same game twice. I couldn't compare the titles in this case cause a game could already be imported with a different title.
I use the param.sfo file because obviously it holds the title. But also because game patches also have eboot.bin. using any method that pulls the eboot could result in many game patch eboots being imported. Game patches are installed to the same directory as pkg games. The param.sfo tells you if the eboot is harddrive Game, disk game or game data. So this method shouldn't pull in any unwanted eboots. Well that's the theory anyway.
Let me know how it works for u.
will do, gonna get on to it in the AM. Shutting down for the night ?
Good info though, and thank you very much for putting it together.
One more inquiry - your mentioning of the pkg installation location gave me pause. RPCS3 gives an option to move the dev_hdd0 directory which I did. I keep my emulators on their own drive, and since rpcs3 requires installing games to hdd0 coupled with the size of the titles, i placed it on its own drive.
I hope this wont present an issue?-

Iv added a plugin to dev section. It locates all param.sfo files within ps3 roms folder. Uses that file to get the location of the eboot and gets the title. Adds them to LB. Check out the video I posted. Done a lot of testing. Is a little hacky but seems to work well.
ill be taking a peek VERY soon lol.
without looking, does it handle pkg games and disc based games? considering the differing paths. I believe the structure locations of the file within the root path are identical (without looking) but pkg games end up in rpcs3's emulated hdd directory where disc games end up wherever you rip them to.
oooor it probably goes based off of the location launchbox gets when you import said file(s) so it doesnt matter? -

Generally, in that case, the best solution is to use Windows Explorer to search for the correct files to add, and then you can drag and drop them into LaunchBox and import them that way. If you check the user folder name box, that will work properly, assuming the folders aren't nested as @neil9000 says above. If they're nested, you're probably going to be out of luck without doing some manual work or restructuring the folders somehow. Not sure how we would solve that one.
ha, was just doing wiiu and will be moving on to PS3 relatively soon. Immediately realized the issue and it caused me concern considering with WiiU, its a relatively minor task to simply handle manually due to the small library.
PS3 is a whole nother animal.
I know SRM handles the naming issue for wonky consoles that operate via HDD like most of the newer stuff by using a json file that basically pairs titleID with title. So when you run the parser when it sees BLUS38810, it enters it as Final Fantasy XIII. (just an example, totally made up pairing).
It also handles arcade stuff in the same way which launchbox is obviously already capable of doing.
you can get a complete all region list of what gameID is what title (for disk and downloaded) from gametdb, thats the easy part. As for importing (and this is way above my paygrade so im talking out my tail) perhaps for that specific platform since games will be ran from the same place, you could have it simply look up 2 folders, grab the ID - parse it against the list of gameID to title , and voila!
of course, i imagine if it was THAT easy.....

new user of launchbox and ive been adding things manually. Just found out about this plugin and hoped it would make it a bit less taxing - but seems its broken somewhat at current or?
Ok, im caving. Cant get exit emulator combo working

yea i meant directly, without using the emulators own shutdown commands. Something like a taskmanager>endprocess would do.
I probably should get a small test set up going on my backup pc though. Will report back a bit later today with screenshots of all relevant settings etc.
Im jealous, I need a NAS so i can have launchboxes all over
