  1. I have never seen a bible passage anywhere in this software. And even if there were, there is no separation between church and Launchbox.
  2. I am having trouble getting lightgun controls to work for Genesis Plus. I went into the Retroarch quick menu and looked under user binds and all it gave me was lightgun button and d pad controls. And when I changed them the lightgun games didn't work. Crosshair is enabled under core settings. Normally I use mouse for all lightgun controls but I didn't see this anywhere in Retroarch or Genesis Plus core. Anyone know how to get lightgun games to work in Retroarch using Genesis Plus GX core?
  3. I wanted to share the solution to a couple issues I ran into using the Genesis Plus GX core in Retroarch that is certain to irritate us hardcore Sega Master System folks. #1 - The Sega boot screen is missing. While it certainly is convenient to launch directly into a game, it takes away from the original experience. It also takes away the hidden snail maze game when you press up + buttons 1 & 2 during the boot screen. To do this you will need to find the version 1.3 Europe/USA Sega Master System bios and place it in the Retroarch system folder. However, many of the bios files available are titled with custom text so simply rename the file to "bios_U". (The bios file must have a .sms file extension.) Finally, launch a game and if it still skips the bios screen press F1 to enter Retroarch quick menu, select options, and enable the "system bootrom" option. #2 - Game sounds and music are completely different from the original. This is an updated FM synthesis option and while it does sound cleaner and is intended to be an upgrade you may wish to hear the original PSG sound. You can toggle this option by pressing F1 to enter the Retroarch quick menu, select options, and change Master System FM to off.
  4. My F1 key wasn't working. Mystery solved. Thank you Neil, I found the FM sound option. Much appreciated.
  5. What about core options? I want to fiddle with Genesis Plus GX.
  6. Thank you. I think the problem I had before was I didn't know how to bring up the quick controls menu. What is the shortcut for that?
  7. I am looking for the easiest way to remap the default controls for Retroarch. I like using it a lot but 9 times out of 10 the control buttons are in the wrong place and the videos I'm finding are really old or don't seem to work. I am alps not finding much information about editing cores and such. I just don't know the keyboard shortcuts, etc. This too would be very useful so I can do things like add the Sega Master System bios and remove FM sound.
  8. Thanks for such a detailed response. I'll start implementing right away and learn as I go. Hopefully I can share my results with others in the future as many of you have.
  9. Does anyone know how one can take a text list like this one and make it automatically remove everything else? Or in other words, how are these no filler files created and used?
  10. Many, if not most CHD games are non working so it is a complete waste of bandwidth and disk space to download a full CHD set. I found one possible way to solve this problem was to download the latest version of Arcade 64, select CHD's in the left menu and it will tell you if a particular game is working or not. Or if it is, whether it is working with problems. From there you can simply Google the name of each working game and watch a few seconds of gameplay or images to decide if it's worth a try or not. If you find a full CHD set in torrent form, simply select the files you want and skip the rest before starting download. According to Arcade64, here is a list of working CHD's for MAME 0.209 minus a rhythm or puzzle game or two. It's about 110G: Note: Some members of the forum have tested these with mixed results, and others have found working games not in the list. area51 carnevil carnival king cart fury chaos heat - working with problems cliff hanger cobra command (mach 3 set 1 and 2) crypt killer - working with problems cube quest evil night fire fox gauntlet legends gauntlet dark legacy go by rc golden tee (all versions) harem challenge hell night hyperdrive jojo venture - working with problems judge dredd - working with problems killer instinct 1 killer instinct 2 laser strixx 2 mach 3 mace the dark age maximum force nagano winter olympics - working with problems nfl blitz (all versions) ray crisis - working with problems rc de go - working with problems red earth - working with problems rise of the robots road burners simpsons bowling total vice (EBA) vapor trx vicious circle virtual pool wargods war final assault wayne gretzky 3d hockey

    MAME CHD's

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. So far everything is running great. I did have one small request and that is when a game has multiple versions and you can choose the version you want by right clicking the game and selecting it (like the way multiple disks are handled), is there a way to select which version is the default? For example, Maximum Force when the game is left clicked the no gore version starts. In order to select the regular version I have to right click and select a different version. If there is a way to change the order it would be ideal.

    MAME CHD's

Okay, thanks. That's exactly where I'm at. Grabbing 0.207 CHD's to go with my non merged 0.209 romset. Then I'll be slashing and burning. Would your All Killer bat work with this new non merged version of MAME by any chance?

    MAME CHD's

There seems to be little information on the proper handling of CHD's for MAME regarding maintaining and updating. I have never been really big on CHD's due to most being non working but there have been improvements to the point I want to expand my collection of them. My CHD's are a bit dated version wise and I would like to know the following: 1) How do we update our CHD's to match the version of MAME that we have? While full MAME sets are readily available, CHD's are not and are often many versions behind current MAME. At best, the most current CHD's available are a few versions behind current. Do we have to rollback a few versions in order to use them? 2) Can we use "merged" CHD's with a split or non merged MAME romset? Or does MAME set type have to match CHD set type exactly? I would just like to learn the proper way to keep CHD's running smoothly like the rest of MAME roms. At least the ones that work. I use Arcade 64 to see if CHD's are reported non working or not. Appreciate any wisdom on this.
  15. I like the synth pad in this gem from Suikoden, PS1.
  16. I'm late to the party, but would like to say that I agree with Zombeaver and Lordmonkus. What a condescending jerk. The emulation community is the very reason our collections exist, how we have beautiful frontends, moderators that answer the same questions over and over for the sake of helping others, and gigantic databases of every conceivable cart, CD, and coin op worldwide. I gladly pay the few bucks for all this hard work.
  17. I wanted to know if there is a way to grab large groups of roms. The usual right mouse hold, select a large group, unpress and delete doesn't seem to work in Launchbox. For example, in my MAME set I might want to quickly delete all terminal roms, a foreign region I don't need, etc. The only quick select I know of within Launchbox is Ctrl+A which deletes your entire collection. I have been having to Ctrl+click one by one which is a really pain in the butt when the group your deleting is really large. I selected all the right filters upon import and there's still a lot of junk. Unfortunately, All Killer No Filler isn't right for my collection. Am I missing something?
  18. I would like to know the most updated methods as of now. I am adding Jaguar today and want the best emulator that can be integrated with Launchbox, or a link to whatever workaround method gets Phoenix integrated. Last time I played Jaguar titles I found Retroarch to be useless and used standalone Phoenix for average compatibility. Hopefully things have changed since then. I still use standalone 4DO for 3DO and haven't found any reason to change.
  19. Mine are all .lnx file extensions and work great. Glad you got it sorted.
  20. I want to learn more about this. Does the white border get created by this lightguns drivers, or is it something we have to generate for each game? Exciting nonetheless. I am a lightgun FREAK. My favorite genre, hands down. But I am disappointed in every offering on the market to the point I use a mouse for all my lightgun needs. I look forward to the day an accurate, intuitive lightgun hits the market that costs under $50 USD. If I had the skills I would make it myself.
  21. Me too, although it looks reasonably legit. My only concern would be whether or not they finish the project to completion. I've seen a lot of Kickstarters run a good sprint but then fail to go the distance. But I think a generous discount should be given to all who donate.
  22. Ah, yes. Thank you. Sure beats using CD Mage to combine the multiple bins although it does make for a cleaner collection down the road.
  23. Okay, thank you. I import the entire folder so what is the best way to only import the cues?
  24. What are your preferred methods for dealing with the multiple track files that are generated when importing games for CD based consoles like Playstation, Saturn, etc? I would like to know if any of you have automatic ways of dealing with this. Thanks to any who share their wisdom on this.
