I'm pretty sure the "Text List with Details" view on the default BigBox theme has a 3D model as the box art view. The text wheel is to the left hand side of the screen and the 3D model is right next to it. I'm guessing the code for the 3D model would be in the xaml for that view in the default theme? Another example is the Retrofresh theme, "Text List with Details" view as well. I'm not actually sure what part of the code would be the 3D model tho.

Yeah the editor shows the animations working properly unlike the preview. But the timings are still off. The hardware image should move at the same pace as the background video and it doesn't anymore. It probably still does on the old version, but I deleted it like a dick so I can't check. If anything, any change you made to CTC might mean some themes have some little kinks to update. I've checked the official colorful theme thread and they have removed the downloads for the CTC theme files, maybe because of this very issue with the new CTC version. It's one of the more popular themes on BigBox so I think they may be updating it to work properly on the new CTC. It's probably up to theme creators to update their themes and sort stuff like this out. I dont get the preview thing tho, might be because it's using animations from older versions?

I reckon it was CTC version 3.0 and 3.1 that I used where the animations looked right. The animations are the same in the default version of the colourful theme for the platform wheel. I left them untouched. I'll send you the custom theme I use but they have the colorful platform videos with them so the whole thing is about 1.6GB. I can send it over email if LB won't let me. I only have the latest version of bigbox so no. It's also out of sync in CTC as well, in fact the hardware image doesn't even move at all. Heres a video of it. egg.mp4 It doesn't do that in actual bigbox but it's the first anomoly i noticed with the new version thinking it was just a preview issue, which to be fair, it was. Although there is still an issue with the animation timing either way. The animations can be changed to sync up of course, but why it's different on the new CTC to the last one I don't know.

@y2guru I've just got it and it's really good, you've kept the core functionality similar so long time users still can use it. I'm just posting this because I have made my own custom version of the colorful theme, and I've noticed the platform wheel image transitions are out of sync now. I haven't touched the animation frames or anything from the original but on this version of the theme creator they are all out of time. I'll show you what i'm on about. eg.mp4 The glitches are only visible on the video recording. I was using lenovo screen recorder which seems to fuck up when recording bigbox. What I was focusing on was the animation misalignment. I suppose it's an easy fix I'm just wondering why it's different in this version of theme creator? This is after republishing my theme on the new version by the way. Thanks in advance.

Just wondering since there seems not to be an option to do so in the program. Do you have to use xaml code? If so does anyone know what strings to put and where? Thank you.

Sorry for the late reply mate. I have since learned how to use the theme creator and have used the video mirror to do my own DS and 3DS themes for Coverbox. All is well apart from what you mentioned, the performance hit is quite heavy using the mirror. There are other animations in the theme so the performance dip becomes noticable as they are choppy when the video is playing. I dunno if this will be optimised in future versions of Theme Creator, or if there is some xmal edit you can make to speed things up, but as of now it's asthetically pleasing albeit the video screens are out of sync. I have a fairly old laptop with quad core 4 thread intel, I wonder if a powerful PC would power through that issue or if it's inherent in the programs code and no matter how fast your PC, those performance issues will still be present, know what I mean? Any way, thanks for telling me this. Because of you I now know how to use the theme editor, and I love it.

I've learned how to use the theme creator over the last week and found it to be a very powerful and intuitive program. Already got my own designs from my head into reality with it. But there are some features that cost more performance than others such as the video mirror tool. I've got it working with the DS video snaps to split the top and bottom screens and all is well apart from the performance cost which seems very sharp. I'm not sure if this feature is going to be more feasible in the future, or if there's a more efficient way of doing this already, but video mirror is going to be good for many implementations when performance is sorted. Not only do the top and bottom videos not sync correctly, but other animations and transitions are heavily affected. I have an example here. ff.mp4 It's a custom config for CoverBox btw, and I know it doesn't necessarily follow the box art theme but then It's just for my own use tastes. All is well with it apart from these performance costs for the video mirror. The stuttering you see in this video is exactly how it is without recording. Though interestingly the preview through the theme creator is much smoother.

Thanks for that, I didn't realize the source files for this theme were available for the creator. I've been tinkering with it and have had problems with the theme creator overwriting themes and breaking them. I tried adding a PC Engine CD theme to my CoverBox setup. I designed the background and Splash Logo, loaded the regular PC Engine config and just replaced the background and clear logo with the PC Engine CD ones and it all looked like it was working inside the theme editor. I was hoping there was a 'save as' function where i'd just name it PC Engine CD instead of overwriting the regular PC Engine view. Cos that would make creating new views much quicker than having to do everything from scratch. Is it actually possible to edit one view and create a new config from that one rather than starting again? Cheers.

@faeran Hiya mate, I use this theme for BigBox platforms and most of them are teriffic. Only issue I have is with the DS and 3DS themes. I was just thinking cos I came across another BigBox Theme called 'GameRoom' by @BMovieBen and it has a DS and 3DS theme that splits up the top and bottom half of the video snaps and it works flawlessly. Appears here for a split second but I reckon doing that in the CoverBox DS/3DS themes would look great. Just a suggestion tho. Cheers.

It's really good mate. I'm just wondering how did you manage to split the DS and 3DS video snaps up and put them in each screen of the DS? Really good idea that I thought about at one point but didn't know if it was even possible. Brilliant theme!

colorful Playlist 'hardware set'images
Madhead replied to Klopjero's topic in Playlists & Playlist Media
Ta for the bone mate. Sorted out the favorites video. Yeah It's not always easy finding the right thread to ask questions, and sometimes when you do it's in a thread that isn't active and you don't get a reply. Just that I've created a few platforms that aren't normally in LaunchBox such as "Operating Systems". Which include stuff like Amiga Workbench, Windows 95, and Linux Distros on Virtual Box. I'm no video editor so I was suggesting ideas for platform videos to others who knew what they were doing. But yeah, probably the wrong thread for that. My bad.
