Happy Friday everyone!!!! 😁 This forum has been kind of lonely as there has been no posts for the last two weeks. Hopefully @Jason Carr will have an update soon.

@Leuthil Hello. The markings on the sd card will tell you about its speed. I have heard that the scrolling issue is worse when you are still downloading images. However that does not mean that you won't have issues after all the images are downloaded. I know that the developer has tried working on this, but it is what it is.
-
Hey @Leuthil this is quite common when you are using SD cards with launchbox for android. Most SD cards are notoriously slow and can't handle the loading of images while scrolling. This is especially true if you are using the wheel view. Since the shield tube does not have the ability to add external drives, I would recommend trying a premium SD card that runs a little faster. Just look up the markings on your card, and you can see where yours falls. This website should help https://www.techspot.com/guides/1591-microsd-buying-guide/#:~:text=1 Standard SD cards%3A 1.26 x 0.94 x,0.039 inches (15 x 11 x 1 mm)

Ok thanks. Appricate it.

@Jason Carr Sorry to be a bother, but still waiting for a seek/ search by letter option. It does get kinda tedious when you have a platform with thousands of games to have to scroll the entire list to find a game. Thanks and have a good day!

Hello everyone Does anyone know how to mass import customers game covers, or even if it is possible? I know that you can import covers individually, but don't know if there is a way to do so, in mass. Thanks
-
@Jason Carr Appricate your hard work. I would still like to see, pretty please, a search/skip by letter option and maybe a horizontal view. Thanks for all that you do
-
@Jason Carr The updates are great and appricated, but I still think that priority should be better game searching, search by letter and theming (at the very least maybe a horizontal view).

Hey @m3chstaa no problem glad to hear that things are working for you. Regarding the extra roms that you don't want, this is why i mentioned using launchbox for windows first, to filer out any roms you don't want. Once you have done this, then you can copy the filtered roms to your android device and run the full import.
-
Hey @m3chstaa I had similar issues and found that the problem seems to be with how andoid launchbox imports mame roms. Mame roms are hard to work with because 1. there are different rom sets, merged, split and non-merged and 2. alot of the roms have clones, bootlegs etc. The way i got my set to work was i downloaded a full merged rom set, then I used lauchbox for windows to filter out the roms i didn't want. Once this was done, I copied the filtered roms to my android device. Then I imported those roms using the full mame rom set option on lauchbox android. This imported my roms with clones correctly (I wanted clones imported as well). I would also recommend that you use the mame core that doesn't have a year added to it. This repersents the most recent mame version and should work for almost all the games. This is the core that I use.

@Jason Carr Thanks for keeping up with all the issues that have come up as you navigate around the crappy rules setup by Google. You are doing an awesome job. A couple of things I would love to see next include: search/skip by letter add game descriptions refine search (currently the search option is very broad) customizable themes Hopefully you have these items in mind. Launchbox for Android is becoming something special. God Bless and have a good day.

@Jason Carr Thank you. one other thing I forgot to mention, after the export process was done and I copied the exported files to my android device my games would not load. After some research I figured out that the game path in the arcade.xml file (my games metadata file) did not change when the export package is copied to launchbox android. I therefore had to manually edit the arcade.xml metadata file to change the game paths to match the path were my roms are located on my android device. Once I did this, the games worked. Don't know if this is normal or a bug. Thanks

@Jason Carr great job keep up up the good work. I am going to rain on your parade though. Sorry 😔. I have been trying to import a "full mame rom set" , mostly full, i have filtered out some games i don't want, and have noticed some odd things with the import. The set is a merged rom set which I have verifed as good. The issues i am noticing are inconsistant and don't make sence. For example, 1. Mat Mania will not import, only its clone exciting hour does. (does not matter what region i use) 2. Mrs. Pac-Man will not import, only one of its clones will. (again does not matter what region i use) 3. Tapper will import, but rootbeer tapper (one of its clone) will not. Other clones are listed just fine 4. Jungle king will import, but jungle hunt (one of its clones) will not. Other clones are listed just fine 5. Ninja Gaiden and its clone import as seperate games instead of just one I have tried importing using different regions and settings, but nothing will import the set correctly . I also looked at the mame.xml file to see if anything was wrong there, but the file looks clean. Below is an example of how mat mania imports. As a last resort I did import some of the roms using launchbox for windows and noticed that they imported correctly there. Any suggestions or work-arounds on how to make this work? Any one else have this issue? Thanks

@rvandesteene beta 3 fixed the issue with beta 2 not working on android 12. Regarding the snaps, I do belive that you do need a paid account, but i'm not sure. I have not gotten to that part yet.
-
@rvandesteene This occured becuase you had probably had launchbox 1.0 beta 2 installed prior to the phone being updated. Android 12 did not like this beta, so if it was installed prior to the update to Android 12 (One UI 4) , the update would simply uninstall the app. Your license data is still intacted. To reinstall launchbox Just go to your data folder for Launchbox and look in the updates folder. There you see all the updates that have been previously downloaded. Just install the update prior to 1.0 beta 2 which was 0.42 then run Launchbox, when you do it will ask you to update to another beta, this update is 1.0 beta 3 which fixes the issue that beta 2 had with Android 12. Hope this helps

@Nabizzles @Mortalis I just got the android 12 update for my tablet and yes there seems to be somthing with the new beta that Android 12 doesn't like. I had it running prior to the update and after the update the entire app was gone. When I tried to reinstall it, i got the parsing error. I think @Jason Carr needs to look into this to see why the new beta is being blocked by android 12. I was able to get Launchbox running by installing the 0.42 update. Hopefully Jason can figure this out. I also noticed that the icon for the new beta is diffrent. It is showing a system icon, when the other updates show the launchbox icon.
-
@Nabizzles Did you check to see if you have the install unkown apps option set to allow? Also i don't have a fold of my own to test on, but I can ask my wife when she gets home from work, to see if she will lend me hers to test the app on. However I do know that she has not yet recieved the android 12 update, though. This could be the issue. Perhaps someone else who also has Android 12 can comment, if they are having similar issues as yours or not. Hope this helps

Hello. I thought I would throw in my experiance. I just updated to 1.0 beta 2 on my Galaxy Tab S7 Plus and had no issues. I'm currently on Android 11 and have Launchbox installed on my main storage drive and my roms on my sd card. I am wondering if the installation issues that some are having are related to where Launchbox is installed i.e. main storage vs sd cards. Also I made sure that install unkown apps was set to allow. I haven't installed the beta on my other devices yet (shield, phone etc) but will update once i do.
-
Hey @Nabizzles How are you handling the space issue since the fold does not have sd card support? I am waiting for my fold to arrive but am concerned about space. I did order the 512gb version for this reason. Thanks

Hey @Goodmango @Jason Carr is the developer of the app and @neil9000 is a moderator. Hope this helps.
-
@TechBoi, Like @neil9000 said, the games datebase is a community effort, so not everything is going to be perfect, nor should we expect it to be. We have to take it for what it is, and if you want to upload a wheel with the correct file name to fix an issue, than I guess you can do so. @Jason Carr is doing an awesome job and I tip my hat off to him for all he has done on this project. Keep it up, Jason!

@TechBoi you might be getting a lot of Japanese games because no-into romsets have games from different regions i.e. Japan, Europe, etc. Most games from these other regions are just duplicates of North American games, but some games are exclusive to just a particular region. It is recommended that you clean your romsets to remove non-North American region duplicates so that only North American region games are left. Once this is done, you can then add back any region-specific games you might want in your collection. This should eliminate a lot of the Japanese games. I agree with @neil9000 that there seems to be an issue with the file naming convention used on some of the wheel images, which is probably causing Japan wheel logos to display. After looking closer into both the games you mentioned, Kung Fu and Kid Icarus, I noticed that both have North American wheel images available but the file names for these wheels lack a region name i.e. (North America). Since those images lack the region designation, this could be why those images are not downloading and displaying properly. Changing the rom file name won't fix this either, because I believe that the scraper looks for the files for the region you specify. I don't know if something can be done about this, but I think that in the meantime, the easiest solution is to download those wheels that are incorrect and manually copy them to the wheel folder. Just my 2 cents

@TechBoi Its the walmart brand streaming box.

@C0ntrA @Jason Carr AMEN to that!! I am currently working on getting launchbox running on an ONN streaming device. Not an easy task, but preliminarly I got it working.
