  1. @johnnyskullhead Here are some tips: If you want to use retroarch, you need to use the version from their website. The google play store version does not work with Launchbox because it has not been updated in years. Make sure you download the correct version, they have a 32bit version and 64bit. I am not sure why type of system an odin is, so you would have to check on this. Once installed make sure you select Retroarch (sideloaded) 64bit or 32bit as the default emulator and then whatever core you plan to use. Make sure that you download that same core inside retroarch. This should allow you to use retroarch mame to run mame games. On another note, that is also mame4droid, this can be downloaded from the playstore. If you want to use this one, download the one that says current. This is the android version of the windows mame emulator. In my opinion, this one is better for Mame emulation on Android because it uses the same code as the windows version. Also, whenever the windows version is updated, the developer updates the app accordingly, so you will always have the latest version of mame. Another advantage I have noticed is that mame4droid will play CHD games ( i.e. nfl blitz, Killer Instinct, etc) at near arcade speeds (at least that is what I have experienced on my phone). However, for whatever reason the retroarch version cannot play these games, even though the games will load, they will play so slow the game is unplayable. The one negative I have noticed about mame4droid is that if you are using a merged set of mame roms, and want to use Launchbox to run clones of games (listed in the game menu as additional versions), Mame4droid will not load them. If you really want to get this to work, you would have to create dummy files of the clone games in your mame roms directory. Once these files are there, you can select mame clones and it will work. These files will not take up space on your hard drive, but it will bloat your rom directory. Example, If you have the jungle hunt merged rom and want to play jungle king (a clone of Jungle Hunt). You would have to create an empty file titled junglek.zip and place it in your roms directory, once there, you can launch jungle king from the game menu as a clone and Mame4droid will recognize it. I know that this is a lot, but I hope it helps
  2. Just upgraded to beta 13.28 beta 2, and I am having controller issues. When using big box, and I connect a xbox one controller big box goes wonky. It works initially, but then when I enter a game and then exit, the controller stops working. If i use the critical zone theme, the game wheels will start to scroll uncontrollably and inputs from the controller won;t work, in unified lives, the controller will just stop working. When I exit big box and the controller is connected, I do get an error, but I am not able to get a snip of it because it dissapears as soon as big box is completly shut down. Also I noticed that the folder structure for SNES games seems to have changed as I lost all my covers. They were in a folder called "front" and "back", but after the update those files are no longer being found. However, If I put files in the box-front folder, then the images are recognized. This platform seems to be the only one effected.
  3. I got this error after upgrading to fulll version of 13.27. The error was not there in bata 5. This is making Launchbox unusable.
  4. @faeran Just a thought, I would like to see an option added under media "edit media", "video", which would allow you to download video's from emumovies on a per game, basis. Right now, there is an option to download streaming videos individually, so why not add an option to download emumovies videos individually? Thanks
  5. Hi @Drakuor I think i have run into this issue before. Check your emulator settings. Retroarch sometimes does not boot games correctly. Don't use the versions on the playstore, those are old and outdated. You need to sideload the most updated version. You can download it from the retroarch website to your external storage and then install it on the onn. There are multiple versions on the website, download the 32bit version, 64 bit will not work on the onn. Once installed make sure that you select retroarch (32 bit sideloaded) on the Launchbox emulator settings. Also make sure that you have the correct core downloaded within retroarch for the games you are trying to emulate. Hope this helps
  6. @faeran I am having an issue with launchbox 1.19 for android making the app unusable for me. 1. Selecting "jump to letter" via touch screen method, causes the app to become unusable. For example, If I select "b" sometimes it will work, sometime not. When it does work, it takes me tothe first game of my list starting with the letter "b" like its supposed to. But then if try to scroll games from there and then find a game i want to play and select that game it scrolls to another game entirely. At this point I am unable to select any games to play because every time I select a game the wheel keeps scrolling back to the first game starting with the letter 'b'. To somewhat fix this i have to exit out to the platforms screen then back to my game list screen and everything will be back to normal. When connected to a controller, i get the same issue when selecting "jump to letter" from the upper right menu. If I use the controller to select by letter, by moving left or right everything works fine. Thanks
  7. For me the crashes continue. The app will load up fine to the platfrom screen, but when I select a platform, it crashes.
  8. Another issue that I noticed is that I cannot change any of the game art. When I go to a game and select edit media, i can select one of the media options and it will show me alternative media i can select, but the app won't let me select any of those media options. Thanks
  9. @faeran I received an update for Launchbox for Android 1.18 beta this morning and after updating I noticed that launchbox is crashing constantly. I am not sure what is causing it, but when it crashes, I have to go to the apps sections, force close launchbox , clear the cache and then launchbox will work again. I am attaching 2 logs for you to review. My device is a Samsung Galaxy fold 3. On another note, I can verify that video steaming is working. However, I have noticed that some video links don't work but this is expected as videos come and go on youtube. I have noticed that some non-working videos can be fixed if you change the http to https on the video url section under edit metadata. If that doesn't work, just go to youtube and look for game play video and use those urls. Thanks Debug 2025-02-28 02-36-10 PM.log Debug 2025-02-28 02-34-43 PM.log
  10. ahh good catch. I was writing this post last night close to midnight and was half-asleep.
  11. @faeran Launchbox will not automatically update my version of mame its stuck on version .256 while the latest version is .274. Please help
  12. @faeran I've been trying to import a "full" mame rom set but i notice that the importer is a little wonky, for example I have the mat mania rom, but it imports exitinghour (Japanese version) as the main version, additionally mat mania is not even imported as a clone of exitinghour. Also matmaia is the parent, but it never imports. I have tried using north america and world as the regions to prioritize and i get the same results. In another example, when tapper is imported, it imports rootbeer tapper as the main rom, but never imports tapper budweiser 1/27/84 which is the parent. Please advise
  13. Hello everyone Since version 13.19, for whatever reason, my mame plug-in will not update. It is stuck in version 0.257, while the current version of mame is 0.274. I have tried fixing the plug in but it still won't update. Please help Thanks
  14. update: I was able to get platform videos working. Though I noticed that there is an issue that when you go from platform to the options menu and back the platform videos sometimes don't automatically play. You have to move to another platform away from the current, then the videos start playing again. hopefully you can find a fix to the search issue, asap. attached is a screenshot of what unified light looks like on phone. This is with the theme updated to 1.3 Thanks
  15. @faeran I just download version 1.17 beta of Launchbox for Android and for me it's nothing but a hot mess. There are so many issues that for me it's in no way usable. First, I have it installed on a Galaxy fold 3, 512mg phone and after I installed it, i ran into the following issues; 1. Search - search function does not work. Whenever I try to search for a game, the artwork and box art change, but the there is no functionality within any game list. It does not change to show games that I am searching for 2. I download platform videos, they don't work or play 3. Unified light vertical wheel view has uneven artwork. screenshot is huge, while boxart is very small (horizontal view) 4. streaming gameplay videos from youtube don't work. I get the "video downloading" prompt but no video As is, there is no way for me to use this app. Please fix
