  2. I've seen in the past if RA config has two entries for the same configuration in the config file, it randomly selects one. That gave me quite the headache once.
  3. But how much space are they really saving with these rom diffs vs just having the full rom? Most of the roms changed were ~1MB in size.
  4. I find it crazy that it requires 30+ steps to update a MAME romset and it has to be done in order so 30+ steps times how many versions you are behind. There has to be a better way. That said I just ditched my 209 version and updated to 219, still a few versions behind but i'm not complaining at the moment. I just wish there was an updater application that just downloaded the required roms and patched it in one click. Honestly, I did a windiff between 209 and 219, there were a few new files, some differences, very few files removed, what's all the fuss of merging roms, just search with checksum and download what is new/different.
  5. I agree that Game Loader RH is not a virus, it's just for me anyway difficult to set up and for Type X games, I never had to use it.
  6. Retroarch has terrible raw input support for light guns. Mame is better and does work. Unfortunatley that meant for all systems that I wanted light gun emulation on I had to find an alternate emulator to retroach (sega genesis, master system, snes, etc).
  7. For the most part Type X games launch without RH All Games Loader or whatever it is. Also yes I got in trouble with ignoring those virus warnings, I believe one was a payload that did some nasty things. Most of my emulation is via keyboard (Xtension Arcade cabinet) so I don't know about xinput issues. You may try joy2key or something similar. There is a bit of software called TypeXtra, kind of hard to find in the wild but it has the proper dll's and loaders for each game. TechnoParrot has also been good at launching some Type X games, but not all.
  8. Alright, I'm in the process of getting 219. It's the latest I could find that was a single zip download on archive.org. Next will be to see how Launchbox handles it.
  9. What about CHD's? I have several from planetemu.net, and even though they show as mame .180 they did work with my .290 romset.
  10. Another question, from retroroms I can get update packs, do I just overfile into my existing mame romset (merged) or so I have to use clrmame to do the update? Seems so painful and I'm apparently behind in romsets, maybe best to just bulk download the latest romset?
  11. Ok, if I use mame 221 then it works fine, but then the rom files need updated. Guess I'm going to have to find a tutorial on updating mame romsets.
  12. Having the same problem here, Mame 209, downloaded G&W artwork, put in artwork folder in mame, nothing happens. The zip files have default.lay and png files, looks correct to me.
  13. So far no command line support, will wait for it though.
  14. I've downloaded and managed to get a lot of Taito Type-X games to work on the PC but Arcana Heart 3 has been problematic. I cannot get the keyboard to work with the game. It loads fine but I haven't found a loader that can map the keyboard yet. Is there something I'm missing here? Anyone else get it to work?
  15. Some MAME roms require CHD files and for some reason mame_libretro hangs if its missing those files. I've also found that some games for whatever reason hang on start even though there is no chd, in which I just set the emulator to MAME and it works fine. CHD files can be found on planetemu.net for specific rom files. Put them in a sub directory in the same folder as the rom zip file with usually the same rom name and should work fine in RA or MAME.
  16. 17. Actually it seems today it's working when it was not yesterday. Lessons learned though: 1. Run DemulShooter.exe WITHOUT arguments to configure light guns, this creates a config.ini which is required. I don't know if I skipped this or what in the docs but it wasn't entirely clear that was required. 2. Autohotkey works great to run DemulShooter then launch the game. 3. Aliens dehasped has some issue with Autohotkey where it would not close the app on escape. I had to use Run,"aliens dehasped.exe",,, PID to get the PID of the process then it was killable with escape.
  18. I have two aimtrak light guns and I'm trying to run aliens rehasped but I'm not getting any response when the game loads. I've tried with -v, made sure both light guns were detected, game was successfully hooked. I just have no cursor onscreen at all. I don't see anyone else with this issue so I have no idea where I'm going wrong. Tried with running as admin as well.
  19. Ugh I did solve this but the fix was to unmap player 2 start and select from num2 and num6. It seems MAME in retroarch doesn't care anyway and player 2 coin and start still worked afterward.
  20. Not sure when it happened or why it's happening, but if I hit player 2 start or player 2 coin (keyboard 2 or keyboard 6) I get the Mame UI instead of player 2 adding a coin. Is there something I should be looking for in the configuration somewhere to fix this? I checked retroarch player 1, player 2, and shortcuts, nothing I can see mapped to keyboard 2 or 6.
  21. was not clear from reading that systemname is the folder of the roms Anyrate still had to suffix all roms with (GG) then notepad++ update launchbox config to match. All good now.
  22. I think that helps but I don't know where save content directory override is located and systemname is pretty abiguous. I'm starting to think I just rename all GG roms with (GG) to distinguish and be done with it. Why does retroarch have so many configs.... also it seems from reading that gamename.cfg overrides systemname.cfg so maybe it's fruitless as well. Edit: Ok my hunch was right. I was eventually able to get it "mostly" working except with a GG rom name matched a genesis rom name and the game overlay was applied instead of the system overlay. Don't know any way around this other than adding a suffix to all roms such as (GG) to differentiate them by name. Also at one point retroarch was flip flopping between settings... very strange. Load the game one time and it would have different video settings than second time, eventually sorted that out.

  24. Having problems with retroarch genesis_plus_gx and overlays. I have it set up already for genesis with overlays which worked great, however the core is shared now with game gear and sms. I want the gamegear overlay to just be the gamegear and not game overlay, but if the rom exists in the overlay config for genesis that overlay is shown instead of the gamegear overlay. Not sure where the configuration is coming from that is causing this issue. I'm using the -c option with a custom config for gamegear separate from genesis. How do I override the game overlay?
  25. I haven't tried, mainly because it's a heavy arcade cabinet and the keyboard cable is probably really hard to find in the rats nest I made Strangely the docs says that changing to xinput I have to disconnect and reconnect the USB but I found that was not the case. I could switch with ease. Only downside is I lose my trackball on xinput.
