Use it from within file manager after I navigate to my shenmue folder... I think I need to make it clear that, not only am I using a french keyboard ('cause I'm french), I'm not too computer-savvy, so I'm not sure what you're talking about... lol?

Yes I know ofc. When I said import all 3 files one after the other "add file" x3 I meant at the beginning

Thanks for your reply. Err, if I use the search function found in the Windows "Start" menu and type .cdi, it finds one other Dreamcast game I have, that is indeed a .cdi (that I imported effortlessly as it is just one file), not Shenmue... But, hey, you say I can combine those 3 different .gdi files into one game AFTER Launchbox is done importing them? I'll try that, if you can give me the precise walkthrough... Edit: nah, no dice, LB still imports them as 3 different separate games, even after I tick that "combine" box. Waiting for help for how to merge them... Edit 2: got them merged. Let's see if it works. Edit 3: damn, now flycast is giving me a bios error... never had this prolem when running Naomi & Atomiswave games. Nevermind, this kind of problem can't be resolved in LB forums I suppose. Edit 4: OK, got this resolved. For whatever reason, Launchbox had imported a .link file, not .gdi... Go figure.

Hi everyone, I've been trying to import Shenmue, and my version is comprised of 1 folder containing 3 folders each containing a bunch of files, including one that is a .gdi, which I believe is the executable for Dreamcast games (for the ones that come in .gdi that is), but for the life of me I can't find a way to import this game in Launchbox. If I select import file, and I import all 3 .gdi files one after the other ("Add file", "Add file", "Add file") at the beginning, even if I tick the "combine roms with matching titles into a single game" box toward the end, Launchbox shows me the 3 .gdi files on 3 different lines, and indeed imports 3 different Shenmue games (the 3 .gdi files), If I select import folder, Launchbox sees all the files in all 3 folders, and shows me at the end of the import process all those files, I didn't even bother to click "import" as I didn't want to have to delete 2 dozen files. I think it is worth noting that this Shenmue game is a folder containing 3 folders each containing a bunch of files, among which a .gdi file. Now I'm not too savvy when it comes to Dreamcast emulators (I plan on using Flycast btw, if that's important), but i read somewhere that it's important the .gdi file remains in a folder along the other files that pertain to it in order for the emulator to run properly, so even though I thought about having just 1 folder with all files of all 3 folders in it so Launchbox would import just 1 game, I didn't in the end. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help guys!

I saw your message after typing .xml at the end, and it seems to work fine. I was concerned at first I couldn't find where Launchbox had "launched" (Ha) my newly created platform "Examu Ex-Board", turns out it was at the very bottom, along with consoles, but it didn't take me long to figure out I could move it somewhere else. Launchbox is quite well designed. Also, that italian dude you link to has apparently typed the command line "--profile=yaddayadda" in other places like "associated platform", but I've typed it only in the box below "use custom comand line parameters" in "Emulation" (when you right-click and choose "edit" for a game), and it seems to be working all right. Well, if it wasn't for the text the mouse was hovering above that somehow gets caught when the game boots and stays there in the middle of the screen when the game is running that is, lol. But it's no big deal I think, just gotta make sure the mouse cursor doesn't stay on the text.

Thank you very much for your reply. Hold on, I'm gonna try that... edit: FFS, I've just now realized we're indeed not stuck with the platforms in the drop-down menu and we can type entirely what we want...?! Geez. Still, it would've been cool to list more, since they have Taito Type X in there. But it's nice to see this, lol edit2: like I said I'm trying to import my TP games using the "import rom files" method, if it works I won't be bothering with the .txt file method. Yes I know about the .xml file stuff. Is it in "use custom command-line parameter" box we're supposed to type it? Like --profile=DaemonBrideExboard.xml then?

Hi all, I've been trying to import my Teknoparrot games in Launchbox, but to no avail. I select "Tools", "Import", "ROM files", but the problem rises right from the get-go: the Launchbox drop-down menu regarding the platform is nowhere near complete: it lacks many arcade systems. There's Taito Type X when it comes to arcade systems emulated by Teknoparrot, and that's about it. I decided to start importing my TP games with Daemon Bride, which is an EXAMU Ex-Board game, except EXAMU Ex-Board is not in the Launchbox list of platforms, I plan on moving to Sega RingEdge games, Sega RingWide games, Namco ES3 games, etc. but those systems are nowhere listed in the Launchbox drop-down menu! So I thought to myself, I'll just import these games under one platform called "Teknoparrot". Not ideal as I'd like to have all those arcade systems listed separately (much like Launchbox is able to list some platforms separately when you import your MAME set, like NEO GEO MVS, Sega Model 2 and... not much more unfortunately), except there's no such platform! Seriously, Teknoparrot is not available as a platform in that long list. I know it's not an arcade system, but since all those arcade systems (Sega RingEdge, Sega RIngWide, Sega Lindbergh, Taito NESicaxLive, Raw Thrills PC BAsed, etc) are missing from that list, just "Teknoparrot" would've been better than nothing. Also, I saw on some youtube tutorial video that it's supposedly possible (or "necessary"?) to import your Teknoparrot games by making a .txt file named the same as the game folder and drag and drop it in LB, tried that but no dice. At the end of the importing process, Launchbox had no game listed to import, so I just used the aforementioned method. I'm lost here. Any help would be welcome., if only in the form of the right tutorial video to watch on youtube...

All right, thanks, I'll try that.

OK, there was actually a folder with a file called hod3pc, i'm sorry, but when I click on it it says I can only start this game from the launcher, and it's the same from Launchbox so, yeah... Thanks a lot anyway. It doesn't matter all that much in the end. Say, since you seem to be so savvy with this kind of stuff, and since we're talking HOTD, you wouldn't happen to know why I can't move the crosshair with my DualShock 4 in House of the Dead 2 (on Naomi, emulated with Flycast) by any chance?
-
Change the pathway to the hod3pc.exe? I followed everything you said up until now, but you've lost me there, lol. My executable is called hod3launch, it's a green zombie head. This is where my pathway leads to, as I think it's the only one I've got to launch the game. Does it matter that it's not the same name?

Oh, wow, I hadn't seen your reply, sorry. Thanks for the .bat file, kinkyfoxx. Where am I supposed to place it, and how do I make it an additional app, please?

Thank you guys, both of you Lordmonkus & Rlad for your help!
-
Lordmonkus has to tell me how he installed Brutal Doom on his PC and Launchbox as shown on that pic, I've been dreaming to do that for ages. Right now I just have a folder with the PS1 music & sounds waiting alone, lol
-
You also have to use hod3launch you mean? The square icon with a green zombie on it? I wonder if there's the possibility to make a script for that, to launch in full screen and DS4 controller support from the get-go. If not oh well, at least it works, unlike some of my other emulating endeavors, like the Wii U or Teknoparrot.
-
I do have something called "hod3pc" in a folder named "exe", but when I click on it it tells me "you can only start this game from the launcher"...
-
Right click on an empty space and "Add". All right, duly noted. Never thought about that option. Now I have another problem with the house of the dead III, it's that I initially get a tiny screen and I have to select start game with a mouse before it switches to full screen and I get to play with my DualShock 4, which won't look too cool on the fancy arcade cabinet I plan on making someday, but this is an entirely different subject I suppose.
-
It worked! And looks neat too, with all the artwork and stuff! Thanks a lot! Still, isn't it a bit strange the devs did not think about adding an option for this case in "Tools" and "Import"? It feels a bit strange to have to do this, minimize the Launchbox window and make sure we have the other window with the folder right next to it I mean... For a few seconds I thought Launchbox had crashed trying to import it that way.
-
Thanks for your reply man. OK, so I did, and I do get that screen, but when I'm told to specify what platform it is for in the drop-down menu, I look for "PC", but it's nowhere to be found. There's Windows, but AM2R isn't a Windows game, is it?
-
Hi everyone, I've been trying to import PC games to Launchbox, but they're not the games distributed by platforms like Steam or Epic or GOG or whatever. I'm talking games like AM2R (that fan-made Metroid 2 remake), or The House of the Dead 3 and Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast PC. They're not Windows games I believe, just PC games (not sure though, I'm a complete Philistine when it comes to PC gaming, aside from emulators, I've always been a console gamer, lol). So, if I click on "Tools", "Import", I'm given plenty of choice, but if I remove "Epic Games", "Steam Games" etc from the equation, I'm left with only 2 that seem to be aimed at this: "MS-DOS Games" and "Windows Games". If I select Windows games, the import wizard tells me it's going to look for games stored in my Windows Start menu... but I have no PC games stored there. Games like AM2R for example, are not installed on the PC, I just unzipped them in a folder and I play them et voila. House of the Dead 3 is installed on the PC, it's listed in the programs installed on the PC, but Launchbox doesn't see it. The only game listed in my Start menu is Silent Hill the Arcade, which I believe is not even a PC game, I'm not sure what kind of game it is, I just know I downloaded it to play it in Teknoparrot... but anyway Launchbox doesn't see it either when it scans my Start menu. I tried importing AM2R by selecting "import MS-DOS Games", but the result was that I got the message that this game was not supported by DOS... which even I could have guessed, lol, but had to give it a try anyway. I'm a a loss for a solution here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
