    Roms on a NAS

I did start looking into creating a single VM and running it on all machines. Couldn't get it to work right. The VM stored on the NAS could be opened by each machine, but when I did the changes didn't replicate. It was like they started off as the same machine, but diverged from there. I think they were using different Virtual Hard Drives. But if I could get the VHD right, and IF a VM/VHD could be opened by multiple machines at the same time, then I'd have a one-and-done solution. Of course, no idea how collisions would be handled, like multiple game saves, or two PCs accessing the same file at the same time.

    Roms on a NAS

Yes, I've had great luck with installing all of my ROMS and even emulators on a NAS mapped to a G:\ (for Games) drive in Windows. And once BB was installed, I could run it from anywhere. But I'm still working out how to get AAA games (installed directly in Windows, or Steam or Epic) to exist only on the NAS drive, and not need to be manually installed on each computer in my network.
  3. I get most of this, but am wondering if this can work with PC games requiring install, or Steam/Epic setups. Ultimately, the goal is to get a game like Call of Duty, install it on 1 computer, and play it on all of them, but without COD taking up space in all of the machines. I know NAS can be the location, but will most games require installation on all?

    Roms on a NAS

I'm looking to install games once, and be able to play them on all my machines, rather than having to install them in several locations. I like this solution. But I have questions: Will it work with PC games requiring full installation? Will it work with Steam and other services? I'm not looking to clone the computer entirely, just the game aspects. I have a dedicated GAME computer, and I want to be able to run LB on my Desktop and get all of the games that are installed on the GAME computer, but clearly I still need my Desktop to run as it is. Will Syncthing clone the entire machine, or just keep LB/BB up to date?
  5. OK, so this might not really be LaunchBox related, but you're all experienced geniuses out there, so see if you can help. I have two computers sitting side by side for dual gaming (I actually have more throughout the house as well). I want to be able to access all of my games from any of these computers, but I do not want to have to install every game in every location. I installed the games to a shared drive (G:\) in Windows 10, and BigBox points to that. Steam lets me indicate where the library is, and I pointed it there, but some of the games still require installation. Not to mention Epic and my standalone games all require installation, and I don't want to install the games 3-5 times, even into the same directory. Does anyone know of a way I can just maintain a single installation, accessible from all computers on my network? Something like a Remote Desktop or VM or Container? Set up one computer, but then access it from everywhere at the same time? I guess, kinda like an AWS instance? I realize that with the network latency, and also the overhead of running a VM or container, this might not be feasible, and certainly not at 4k. But if anyone can think of a way to run games on 3-5 computers, without installing them on 3-5 computers, please let me know.
  6. That did it. I'd seen other references to Custom URL in here, but thought those were special cases. I didn't realize that everyone has to do that, and it's the only way it works. Would be useful if they made mention of that on that import screen. It implies you just add your gamertag or login id and it would work. No one says go make a Custom URL. Anyway, that did it. Thanks for the assist.
  7. I have been trying to link my Steam account. I've tried my profile/gamertag (kodeslicer) and also my login username. Neither of those work, and I have definitely made and confirmed my profile is all public across the board. I've put those urls in my browser: http://steamcommunity.com/id/kodeslicer and it comes up as The Specified Profile Cannot be Found. I've got a request in with Steam to see if it's on their end. Anyone here help?
