Is there an option to make LaunchBox portable? I have spent the last 12 months compiling a wonderful collection of games and I would care to share my efforts with my friends. However, recently my old PC died. Luckily I had my LaunchBox backed up on an external drive. I purchased a new PC and found that I had to recalibrate controller settings in Retroarch, as well as a few other settings. So, I am curious whether I'm missing some kind of setting which makes LaunchBox as portable as possible, because I would care to gift my friends with my collection of games. If worst comes to worse then I can TeamView with my friends and set them up remotely, but it sure would be nice to be able to simply copy the folders over to another external drive and be done.

UPDATE: I found the problem; I had to go into the Retroarch resolution settings and select the 60 Hz option. Not sure why the video settings were the issue, but it fixed the problem. Hopefully this will be of help to anybody else experiencing this issue.

I've tried switching the audio driver, but with no success. The audio crackling remains.

My old PC died recently and so I purchased a new PC. Naturally, I copied over my LaunchBox collection (via an external hard drive), however; oddly, when I play MSU enchaned games for the SNES (using the SNES9x core, via Retroarch), there is a horrible audio crackle. I tried using alternative cores, but they only made the issue worse. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thank you. EDIT: There seems to be a similiar issue with the Playstation core of Retroarch, so I presume that it's a Retroarch related issue.

Ah, that makes sense, thank you. Could you please provide me with an example of a command line parameter. For instance, I'm attempting to add Cave Story (which uses the 'nxengine_libretro' core), but using the following command line parameter... -L "cores\nxengine_libretro.dll" ...doesn't work. If you would be so kind as to provide an example of how to launch that core, then I believe that I would be able to set all of the games up using said example as a basis. Thank you.

I was wondering whether it's possible to import the self-contained Retroarch exclusive games into LaunchBox? By that, I mean the games which can be launched from the far right menu option within Retroarch (the rocket symbol representing games); games such as Dinothawr, Cannonball and Gong? EDIT: Not sure why this got moved to the 'noobs' section by a mod. It's not really a noob question. For clarity, I'm not enquiring as to how to use Retroarch as an emulator within LaunchBox. I'm specifically asking about how to import the likes of Dinothawr (a game which has it's own section within Retroarch) into LaunchBox.

Hello, I recently tried to upgrade the version of DOSBox, within LaunchBox. Sadly, now no games will launch. I am using the eXoDOS files. Please can somebody instruct me as to restore the default eXoDOS emulator. I've looked within the 'manage emulators' option but with no luck. Thank you EDIT: I resorted to restoring a previous session of Launchbox.

That did the trick! Thank you greatly.

Recently, a prototype of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the Game.com leaked online. I have tried imported the .bin to LaunchBox but it simply will not recognise the file ("0 games to import"). I tried selecting "Force import..." but with no joy. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thank you. EDIT: Just to say, that I have a bunch of Game.com roms up and running, so I'm used to the process. I just can't fathom why this particular rom isn't working.

Hi, I'm struggling with attempting to use my mouse as a lightgun for the 3DO core of Retroarch. The game I'm trying to achieve this with is StarBlade. I've tried all sorts of combinations within Retroarch's port 1 and 2 control settings; for example, port 1 as a joypad and port 2 as a 3DO lightgun, or port 1 as the Arcade lightgun and port 2 as nothing. However, the the main issue is that I'm able to achieve moving the on screen cursor with my mouse when setting port 1 as either the 3DO or Arcade lightgun (as well as having an on screen UI overlay cursor) but unable to use any of the mouse buttons. Whereas, if I set port 2 as the lightgun, then I am able to use the mouse buttons in-game (including to shoot), but unable to alter my aim with the mouse (even the on screen UI cursor disappears)! It's rather maddening. I even tried to set both ports 1 and 2 as lightguns in the hope that it may create some kind of Frankenstienian monster, but sadly nothing seems to work. I can only either shoot or move the reticle, but not both. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Perfect! Thank you. I understand that. I'm over 15,000 games deep into building my LaunchBox collection and have imported many custom manuals (both .pdf and .txt) for countless games, across many systems. For whatever reason, LaunchBox simply refuses to automatically recognise the manuals for the Singe emulator. Not to worry though, because it worked fine via Rlad's suggested method.

I just can't get this to work. I've never had an issue importing custom manuals into LaunchBox before. It's only an issue when doing so for Singe. To give you an example of one of the game's locations; this is where Dragon's Lair runs from... Emulators\Singe\DLe.bat I've titled the manuals according to how they are titled within the viewer of LaunchBox itself (so in this case; "Dragon's Lair"). I've tried placing the manuals within various locations, including "\LaunchBox\Manuals\Singe\" and "\LaunchBox\Manuals\Arcade\Singe\" and nothing is working. I've also tried \LaunchBox\Manuals\Daphne Singe\ but to no avail.

Hi, I am trying desperately to add custom manuals to my laserdisc games (via Singe). I'm very used to the process of adding custom manuals in general, but I simply cannot figure out how to add manuals for the Singe games. I have created several .txt documents, with instructions, but try as I may, I cannae find a way to have them show up with a right click. The main issue is that the nature of the Singe emulator requires that all the roms are stored within the emulator folder itself (i.e. no 'Games' entry). I've tried moving the emulator and games to 'Games/Arcade' but with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I am attempting to setup laserdisc games within LaunchBox and with little (or at least, partial success). I have followed an online YouTube tutorial and it's gotten me most of the way (i.e. games run extremely well). However, I would care to use my PC Xbox controller to play the games and whenever I press the 'Select' button upon my Xbox controller (in order to place a "coin" within the arcade machine), it crashes the emulator. I am able to use the "5" key upon my keyboard to place a virtual coin within the virtual machine, but not use my Xbox controller. Therefore, is anyone aware of a means to alter the controls of the Singe emulator to bind controls to a controller? Thank you. EDIT: Okay, I've found the 'controls.cfg.example' within the Singe subfolder and when using those controls, I am able to play via my XBox controller. However, I would care to play using the standard MAME layout (i.e. coin=select, start=start - also, the directional controls are currently mapped to the analogue stick, whereas I would prefer them to be mapped to the D-Pad and the action buttons to the X,A,B and Y buttons). Sorry, I'm having some trouble taking a screenshot, but here's the text contained within the 'controls.cfg.example' file... -------------------------------------------------- Default Mappings DEAD_ZONE = 8000 INPUT_UP = { SCANCODE.UP, SCANCODE.KP_8, GAMEPAD_0.AXIS_LEFT_Y_U, GAMEPAD_0.AXIS_RIGHT_Y_U, GAMEPAD_0.DPAD_UP } INPUT_LEFT = { SCANCODE.LEFT, SCANCODE.KP_4, GAMEPAD_0.AXIS_LEFT_X_L, GAMEPAD_0.AXIS_RIGHT_X_L, GAMEPAD_0.DPAD_LEFT } INPUT_DOWN = { SCANCODE.DOWN, SCANCODE.KP_2, GAMEPAD_0.AXIS_LEFT_Y_D, GAMEPAD_0.AXIS_RIGHT_Y_D, GAMEPAD_0.DPAD_DOWN } INPUT_RIGHT = { SCANCODE.RIGHT, SCANCODE.KP_6, GAMEPAD_0.AXIS_LEFT_X_R, GAMEPAD_0.AXIS_RIGHT_X_R, GAMEPAD_0.DPAD_RIGHT } INPUT_1P_COIN = { SCANCODE.MAIN_5, SCANCODE.C, GAMEPAD_0.BUTTON_LEFT_BUMPER } INPUT_2P_COIN = { SCANCODE.MAIN_6 } INPUT_1P_START = { SCANCODE.MAIN_1, GAMEPAD_0.BUTTON_RIGHT_BUMPER } INPUT_2P_START = { SCANCODE.MAIN_2 } INPUT_ACTION_1 = { SCANCODE.SPACE, SCANCODE.LCTRL, GAMEPAD_0.BUTTON_A, MOUSE_0.BUTTON_RIGHT } INPUT_ACTION_2 = { SCANCODE.LALT, GAMEPAD_0.BUTTON_B, MOUSE_0.BUTTON_MIDDLE } INPUT_ACTION_3 = { SCANCODE.LSHIFT, GAMEPAD_0.BUTTON_X, MOUSE_0.BUTTON_LEFT } INPUT_ACTION_4 = { SCANCODE.RSHIFT, GAMEPAD_0.BUTTON_Y, MOUSE_0.BUTTON_X1 } INPUT_SKILL_EASY = { SCANCODE.KP_DIVIDE } INPUT_SKILL_MEDIUM = { SCANCODE.KP_MULTIPLY } INPUT_SKILL_HARD = { SCANCODE.KP_MINUS } INPUT_SERVICE = { SCANCODE.MAIN_9 } INPUT_TEST_MODE = { SCANCODE.F2 } INPUT_RESET_CPU = { SCANCODE.F3 } INPUT_SCREENSHOT = { SCANCODE.F12, SCANCODE.F11, GAMEPAD_0.BUTTON_BACK } INPUT_QUIT = { SCANCODE.ESCAPE, SCANCODE.Q } INPUT_PAUSE = { SCANCODE.P, GAMEPAD_0.BUTTON_START } INPUT_CONSOLE = { SCANCODE.GRAVE } INPUT_TILT = { SCANCODE.T } INPUT_GRAB = { SCANCODE.G } -------------------------------------------------- Am I correct to presume that were I able to change those values, then I would rename the 'controls.cfg.example' file to 'controls.cfg' and that those remapped controls would work? If so, if anyone would be kind enough to remap the controls to my liking (as stated above), then it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly.

Sorry; one last question... I recall that when I previously setup the prior version of C64 Dreams, that there was a way to enable the magazines to be viewed offline (as opposed to an online webpage being opened upon clicking on them), but I can't remember how this is achieved, nor can I relocate the relevant information on how to do so. Please could you be so kind as to jog my memory? Thank you.

Great. Thank you. I'm downloading version 0.60 now and will do as advised. Thank you.

Great stuff, @Zombeaver I do have a technical question; I currently have the previous version of C64 Dreams installed within my Launchbox (along with multiple other system emulators) and I'm curious as to how I can update to the latest 0.60 release of C64 Dreams. Is it as simple as downloading the latest version and copying the folders over to the relevant directory (whilst overwriting any and all matching filenames)? Thank you.
