@Warped Polygon Included here is the Ganbare Goemon Box/Cart/Clear Logo fix I mentioned earlier, and 2 videos I made by clipping a few youtube videos. @Warped Polygon It occurs to me now that I probably am not allowed to share a (HQ) video snap collection here, and I don't want to break any rules or step on any toes, so I just wanted to let you know that I did put one together and renamed to your standard names like all the other media I've shared over the last two days. It contains all 63 Untranslated games, and 282 of the 284 of the Translated games (Missing "I Love Golf: OB Club" (Satellaview) and Shockman Zero (can't remember, but I think that's also Satellaview). If somebody let me know that I'm in the clear for sharing it, I will. (It's 1.77GB, so I would probably be uploading that somewhere else and would probably be hosting that only temporarily somewhere else so you could grab it). In case you missed them, I posted a largely complete Bezel pack and a full, upgraded Clear Logo pack. That would be about all the additions I'm interested in doing on SNES for now. Carts are kind of a crapshoot and I don't want to invest the time doing a bunch of comparisons on them from different sites to choose the best since none of the Themes I use in Batocera even use them, and when I put them on the XBox they're not very big and the transparency doesn't even work there anyhow. I'm not even going to bother trying to clean up my title/action shots either, since these things were scraped all willy nilly and are probably half US / half Japan and they can just stay that way until somebody else puts a solid pack together. I've got to hurry and wrap this SNES work up so I can knock out the Atari 7800 real quick and be done with it all for a while. My NES pack work was so meticulous that skipping over things like this does really bother me, but I can't invest the time in making SNES/SFC perfect now. Maybe some other time, and I'd love to see how far you and others have taken it by then. Also, I screwed up the Ganbare Goemon games and I'm working on fixing those. I didn't even catch that until I went back to the videos and realized I was using the same video for 2 games and got my wires crossed with Twinkling Journey and Princess Yuki (the retranslation of Mystical Ninja). I'll figure that out and upload a small fix patch with the correct media for you when you put all this stuff back together. -

BEZELS BONUS PACK (1920X1080px ; Sorry... No Config Files): [SNES] Bezels (1920x1080px) for WP Translated-SFC Pack.zip All 63 Untranslated games. Only 240 of the 284 Translated games. There are actually more missing than that, but *most* of the re-translations of US games I re-used the US bezel. I didn't double them up for games like Elnard/7th Saga or Area88/U.N. Squadron, but I did re-use them for Super Mario RPG and other titles where the US/Japan names were identical or close to identical. Batocera didn't need config files, so I don't have any of those. I do not know how to make them so I can't help with that part. Somebody who knows what they're doing may need to create these if you wanted to use them outside of Batocera. -

CLEAR LOGOS UPGRADE: All resized to 880x328, which was a great size to display in both the Hexa and RCBM Themes in Batocera. Logos inside were stretched to the edges of the canvas resize, maintaining aspect ratio. I didn't take the time to manually tweak all of your new ones like I usually do, but a quick once over on them in Batocera looked great to me. Having them all the same size makes them look much better in Themes that put these logos in a wheel than they do with sizes all over the place. [SNES] Marquee (880x328px) for WP Translated-SFC Pack.zip All 63 of the Untranslated games and all 284 Translated games which were included in the Boxart packs from yesterday. Renamed the same ones back to your names that were in the Boxart packs, otherwise they're my OG XBOX truncated 36 char limit names. -

No problem man. Happy to help and get this all integrated. I've done more than my share of double work because I didn't know that somebody already did what I was working on, and I figure if you've got somebody willing to spend their free time on this, I'd rather see them do things that aren't already done on my end. Did you have a chance to check out any of my NES links yet? That's just about pure perfection at this point, with the only thing holding me back from absolute perfection being a few mid-quality box scans, mostly for pirates and bootlegs in the collection. Anybody here is free to take that and put it up here or Screen Scraper or anywhere else. Some of these databases are pretty trash still and need a lot of cleanup and upgrades to the media. ESGME and ARRM are awesome, aren't they? I was using ESGME pretty heavily for a few weeks before I found ARRM and the only issue I have with ARRM is how slow it runs on my potato. But it's such a powerful tool once you dive deep inside and test out all the options for scraping and organization. Just make sure you do work on stuff that's backed up and you don't care about while you're playing around and figuring out what it is capable of and how it works because you can very easily nuke your entire setup if you're not careful. ESGME is still great though for fine-tuning and tweaking text info and the few tags that it will help out with since it runs so much faster. About 20 years ago, back when we were all doing this on the OG XBox, I came up with my own list of untranslated games for every system by going through each game one by one and picking out those lists. I'm not surprised that over the decades other people have picked out some choices that I didn't make back then, and I haven't gone back in to test them out again. The way I figure it, if the game hasn't been translated yet, it will be eventually, so I'm not very concerned with adding untranslated games that I didn't feel were reasonably playable by an English speaking audience back then. My old set only had around 100 translations in it, now there are 284 (I was actually surprised how few fully playable SNES translations have been done since then, considering how many Famicom/FDS Translations we got in that time). About 15 of those "new" translations I added after seeing your pack were untranslated games in my old set that have since gotten a translation. And since I'm not looking to spend another 4 years working on the SNES stuff, I think I'm just going for "good enough" for now until more stuff is done by other people. I'm amazed to see how good the US Manuals look for SNES, as well as more or less complete NES/SFC retouched box art. It was so nice not to have to do any of that, and it's the only reason I even jumped to the SNES stuff for a few weeks after I spent around a year working full-time putting those NES packs together. I had no idea anybody else was as crazy as I was to put that amount of time into them. I spent about 2,500 hours in the last 6 months restoring those NES/FDS/Famicom manuals by hand in Paint.NET, no joke. What I mean is there are some "re-localizations" that are put under "Rom Hacks" at RHDN. I believe the only distinction between them is that a "Translation" uses the Japan rom as the base, where the "Re-localization" used the US rom as the base. There can be several reasons that people chose to do it this way, such as the US rom being superior to the Japan rom for one reason or another, and in order to keep those improvements in the final translation they decided to do the work on the US rom instead of translating the Japan version. Sometimes, there are also "tweaks" or "improvements", but if those are subjective I don't add them. But I know that in the NES collection there were examples of Re-Localizations in the Hack section that also had objective bug-fixes, like fixing the Onyx Pendant bug in Faxanadu as well as the re-translation. If you take another look at my additions to the translations that you didn't have, you'll notice a few of them are not in the Rom Hack section and are legitimate Translations. But you probably missed them because they are re-translations of US games. You do have quite a few of them in your set like Elnard/7th Saga, but you don't have Area 88/U.N. Squadron, which I would suggest that you do have in there if you're going to have Elnard. Yeah. It's an absolute monster of a job doing hacks. At one point we had nearly 300 of them in my old set, but when I created this new set I removed about 200 of them and added a dozen or so back. The only hacks I wanted in there were real game-changing hacks and none of the sprite hacks or tons of garbage nobody would ever play in my set. What I did include was things like 2-player simultaneous Super Mario Bros., Prisoners of War, Double Dragon & Duck Tales 2 (with Darkwing Duck). Or puzzle games like Ret's Puzzle Escape or super popular hacks like Super Mario Unlimited: Deluxe. One of my favorite NES hacks is a "Boss Rush" hack for Zelda II: The Adventure of Link that was super inventive how it went about doing the whole progression. I have zero interest in doing any work on SNES hacks right now, even though I know that my old set had a bunch of them. Any work I do outside of the NES going forward for the forseeable future will not even touch rom hacks. If you look at my artwork packs and how much work I put into building up all the media for those hacks, you'll understand why that is. My standards are extremely high, and the Hacks, Pirates, Bootlegs and Unlicensed stuff are by far the biggest time eaters. I've already got all of them in HD (HQ) if you want them. 😁 Sadly, I won't be around doing this for much longer. I need to get some major work done around and on my house over the next few months, and I need to find a job. Been a long time since I lived paycheck to paycheck, and I don't ever want to be in that situation again. Even spending like a monk, I'm just watching my small amount of savings disappear and I'm still dicking around with emulation 2 months after I told myself I needed to finish and get back to real life. 😆 -

Some of those, such as "I Love Bikes" and Captain Tsuaba V have gotten translations already, but that's an interesting list. Too late for me to be adding any more right now. Maybe I'll get to it one day. I couldn't go to sleep until I finished the Untranslated box art upgrade for the 63 that I'm putting together, so here it is. [SNES] Japan Untranslated Box Front Upgrade for Warped Polygon.zip There were only around 15 that were named back to Warped Polygon's names because most of these weren't in his set yet. Just like the translated zip I put above, they're all the highest quality Japan SFC box art on this site, and a huge upgrade to the SS artwork. The rest are just using my own 36 character or less OG XBox compliant names. Feel free to do with it as you wish. -

As promised... [SNES] Translated Box Art Quality Upgrade Pack for Warped Polygon.zip This is the highest quality Box Fronts available here at LaunchBox for all the games you listed above. No matter if they were JPG or PNG, I ran them through XnConvert and made them JPG without altering the size. This makes them much smaller file sizes while maintaining the quality. Otherwise, some of these files as PNG were over 6MB each!!!! I then made a scrip to change them all back to your exact filenames and extensions, so they should all load immediately with your existing XML as is. You may want to double-check that though since I have been known to have 2 or 3 of these not work with my batch files and require renaming by hand. It makes no matter that they're all technically JPG. Your setup will display them correctly even with many of the extensions showing them as PNG, since you had a mix of extensions, with most of them being PNG. Also, my total number for Translated games on my end is 284, which is up to around a dozen more than you had (which we've already discussed above). You can either root these out with a file compare or just ignore them. You'll probably want to use them in your stated future projects for relocalizations though. Once again, not trying to steal your thunder or step on toes. Your initial work here was a great skeleton for me to improve upon without much effort on my part. I think all-in-all I put about 3.5 hours into upgrading the boxes. Thanks again, buddy! Oh... and IProbably won't get to it tonight, but I will do the same with my smaller collection of 63 Untranslated SFC games. As soon as I get that done on my end I'll convert them back to your filenames in the same way and send them back to you. -

I was doing the boxart upgrades by hand, but decided to scrap that and re-try a brand new scrape here through the program using the No-Intro set as the base. I got roughly 250 correct hits out of 280+, so not too bad. If this site wasn't running like dialup today, I'd have already filled in the blanks by hand. Once I get the translated boxes done, I'll work on the 63 Untranslated ones I've got the same way, and then I'll see about sending them back to you along with a rename batch to change them back to your names. On second thought, maybe I'll just do the rename back to your names and send you that. -

Hey buddy, It's killing me to do it, but I'm going through Launchbox's website individually, game by translated game and I'm downloading the best artwork possible now that I've got all of this set up on my rig. I don't know where you got the carts, but so far that's about a 50/50 affair on whether your pack or the Launchbox page has the better quality artwork, but out of the first 20 games so far, the Boxart on the game pages are far superior, with the majority being twice as large and many of them getting really nice touchups. I can send those to you when I'm done, along with a spreadsheet I've been using to rename media to my truncated OG XBox 36 character limitations, which you could then use to create a batch file as I have to rename the media back to your own and you'll have much higher quality stuff in it. I make no promises when this will be done, however. I wasn't planning on doing all this extra work and I desperately need to get back to getting real life things done. I thought this would be a really quick way of getting extra stuff in there, and it is, but my perfectionism is rearing it's ugly head again and I'm looking at about a week or two of tweaking this stuff now. Even longer if whatever server issues Launchbox is having over the last 2 days doesn't get ironed out and the game/media pages don't stop loading like it was 1997 on my dial-up connection. 😆 -

No worries man. Happy to help. I am still working on this project about 2 months longer than I told myself I would once I was done with the NES/Famicom/FDS project I'd been working on. But then I found a few awesome XML editing programs (ESGME for lightweight work and an absolute workhorse called ARRM) and I got myself caught up in a bit more SNES work than I thought I would. I wasn't even considering upgrading my translated collection until next winter, but saw this and thought it should only take me about a week to integrate all of your hard work into my own XBox/Batocera work on my end, and wanted to offer up any help I can with my own work. I did notice that you do have several retranslations included in your set, which is why I still mentioned them to you. (Elnard being the one example that comes to mind). So your hard break on that appears to be separating retranslations that were labeled Rom Hacks, and you're going to do them later then. I don't make that same distinction on my end, so there's always going to be overlap on these things until we eventually all come to define some standards. Maybe we'll have that one figured out 20 years from now. 😆 Have you gone through and taken any time to look for the highest quality artwork out there? Eventually I will be doing that for SNES like I did for the NES if it hasn't already been done for me by then. Here's the packs I have out there for NES/FDS/Famicom. I am in the process of getting a romless Batocera VHD put on somebody's seedbox, but we haven't ironed that out yet. I'm keeping about 36 homebrew games on there that you can get freely at RHDN, but you'd have to use my datfiles to rename everything and then run those results through a batch file to move them all to the correct folders first, but after that it's virtually plug 'n play on any computer. A set of 2,000 NES/FDS/Famicom games. All with Box/Cart/Clear Logo/Action/Title artwork. Nearly 1,600 bezels. Nearly 1,800 videos. Nearly 1,700 manuals. I restored all of the high quality manuals by hand, including around 600 Famicom manuals. Any of the US stuff that hasn't been scanned in HD, I still took the time to split the pages and crop them all, so a TON of work went into this. I had my hands on over 40,000 pages when it was all done. All pages were cleaned up on the inside as well as the front/back cover work. The best way to view the manuals is one of the two Calibre packs I put together, where I made over 1,000 tags to sort and filter the results. But on my Batocera rig they look awesome as well, and I've created 90 categories on that to sort and filter the 2,000 game collection as well. *PLEASE FEEL FREE, ANYONE, TO ADD THESE TO LAUNCHBOX OR WHATEVER SCRAPER YOU WANT. I WILL NEVER PAY TO JOIN UP ON ANY OF THESE SITES, BUT I'M HAPPY TO HAVE MY WORK ADDED TO THEM SO OTHER PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO DO DOUBLE WORK!!!! On the flip-side, thanks as well for the suggestions of untranslated games that were playable by an English speaking audience. I've got 15 more than I had before, for a total of 63. Here's a list of my additional untranslated games from my end. Most of them do have Japanese text, but they're platformers, fighters and shoot 'em ups for the most part, and even without a translation there are some in here in particular which I consider must-haves. I never mean to offend when I make posts like this, and I hope you take it as the suggestions they were. Great job, buddy. I've completed similar work on the NES, along with full manual restorations and such too. I don't have any of that up here, but it's in a few other places. If you're interested in near perfection for NES/Famicom let me know. I did want to mention that there was a translation of Captain Tsuaba V in English, which must have predated whenever these newer efforts have come together. I've seen the occasional translation disappear from RHDN over the years for one reason or another, so this isn't unheard of. It was translated to "Boy's Soccer Team 5". Unfortunately, back then I wasn't cataloging things like the person or team who did the translation, so I don't seem to have that information on hand right now, although I may have it around here somewhere. Just do a search for "Boy's Soccer Team 5" "SNES" and you'll see plenty of places still referencing the two names together. If I find any more instances like this as I try to reconcile your stuff with mine, I will let you know about them. Thanks again for sharing! EDIT 1: Chrono Trigger (Re-Translation) Not sure if it goes against your rules or not, but there was a Chrono Trigger re-translation effort from 2007 with the Fully Playable claim as well. I was in the middle of getting those screenshots and the info together for you, but was surprised to see it still on RHDN, which is why I thought it might not have met your criteria for your set. I didn't see it in that backloggd link, and they only mention the Satellaview Music Library translation. Didn't see it on the backlogged link either. Wasn't surprised to see that you didn't have it though because I've seen it called "notoriously bad" and one of the reviewers mentions needless swearing and stuff like that. It is marked as fully playable though, and though it has its detractors there are also glowing reviews for it. I did notice that you do re-translations such as Elnard (7th Saga), so the 2nd two should apply. The only other ones I had were the 3 French Super Butouden games and the Jelly Boy 2 prototype, I haven't actually seen any of your stuff yet since I'm setting up a massive rename with a lot of different media, but I'm really looking forward to see all of your stuff in action.
