Would it be possible to store the Scummvm launcher names in an external file? I'm referring to the word "monkey" used for Secret of Monkey Island or "kq1" used for King's Quest I. I'm building a separate Scummvm platform section in my LaunchBox and it would be great to add some of the games from the latest Scummvm release ("Hi-Res Adventures" for instance) and games only supported by the daily builds without needing to wait for an update to LaunchBox.

@cleverest. Sorry for the confusion. I'm referring to the various xml files Launchbox stores under Data\Platforms. If you don't have a given platform's xml file there, you may want to add a game to LB manually within that platform to create one. So the steps would be Close Launchbox but make sure you have a platform specific xml file under Data\Platforms Copy said file to the root of Launchbox Filter MEAGRE to just show that platform (under the Category menu) Export from MEAGRE to copied file in LB's root folder Move root folder file back to under Data\Platforms overwriting the file already there Restart Launchbox

Unfortunately, since MEAGRE is working off of the one XML file format, you have to do a bit of file manipulation to export to the current version of Launchbox. What you can do is copy one of the data files (say your ms-dos.xml file for instance) into the root folder of Launchbox. Then filter Meagre to just show DOS games and then export to this ms-dos.xml file. That will make sure all the images get copied into the right locations. When complete, you can copy the ms-dos.xml file back into the Data folder. The export does not move anything. It copies the images and extras to the corresponding Launchbox folders and leaves the games in the Exodos directories. The various Exodos bat files are then used as the "executable" for each game in Launchbox with a hard path to each file.

So I see the audio level window and it shows good numbers (40 - 80 when talking). Voice Recognition is enabled in LB. However, LB still fails to respond to any commands. The Microphone area of options in LB is a blank screen for me. Not sure why I can't get LB to respond. Cortana (Windows 10) is responding without issue.

Just tested the latest beta. My collection is just under 24,000 games. Okaying the options with voice recog on took about 30-45 seconds. Initializing Voice Recognition on startup only took a few seconds. Thanks, Jason! Unfortunately, I still can't get it to hear anything. Am I missing something?
-
I had the same issue when okaying the options. Took 5-10 minutes. LaunchBox is now taking 5 - 10 minutes on startup to get through "Initializing Voice Recognition". In addition, I couldn't actually get the vr to respond to anything (and my recording levels were all on and working). Going to turn it off for now.

I'm running into a little issue I hope others have seen and found a workaround for. In BigBox, when I leave a platform with a video playing, the sound from that video plays over and over repeating. Even if I go into another game with a video or back into the same video, the sound from the video I left still plays repeating. It could very well be something on my end. Any ideas?

Who wants to help us design a bartop arcade cabinet? :)

Does the t-moulding on a build like this end up showing a lot of wear? If so, I would go with black. Is there a reason not to include a spinner or trackball in a build like this? How about pinball flipper buttons on the sides? -

Can I get a clarification on "Delete Image". I've been seeing a number of these and I'm not sure I'm choosing the right option. These images are clearly from the games in question so first, I'm not sure why they were ever marked for deletion but second, my options are to "Accept Delete" or "Reject Delete". Does accept mean to delete the image from the database and reject keeps the image, or the other way around? -

Any tips for easily adding all ScummVM games?

Thanks! Sounds like waiting is my best bet. No problem there. I'm enjoying adding platforms as tutorials are released (for ones have not added just yet). -
Any tips for easily adding all ScummVM games?
donarumo replied to donarumo's topic in Troubleshooting
I have a folder containing separate directories for every ScummVM game. Is there any automated method for adding all of these games? I've created a separate ScummVM platform and I've added a couple of games manually. I'd almost be okay with adding them one at a time but LaunchBox does not have a listing for a lot of the games (like Astro Chicken) and LaunchBox keeps insisting I need to specify an emulator for ScummVM games. -
I'm attempting to add and play some games only supported by daily build versions of ScummVM. I tried manually editing the main xml file to add the games but LaunchBox replaces the daily build version in the scummvm folder with the current stable version. Would love an option to use the daily build version instead and add those newer games to the scummvm list as well.

Thanks for the blog post. Sorry I didn't see it sooner, been busy with work. On the plethora of missing box art entries, I ended up writing a small program that looks for an image file (a file ending in either .jpg, .gif., or .bmp) named "title" in the screenshots folder and moves it to the main images folder and renames it Front with the same extension. I uploaded this file here: http://www.filedropper.com/project1 It's 12 megs (thanks Delphi!) but all it does is the rename process. To use it, you simply browse to Launchbox's images folder and then hit the rename button. Use this at your own risk of course as I'm not responsible for any issues you have. I can tell you I used it on my own images folder and it worked great. All of my titles from MEAGRE (other than those that already had front images) are now Front images (example below).

Jason Carr said The only issue I see now is that DOS games are not set to "Use DOSBox" in the XML file, Yeah, that's intentional. This export is really designed to export the ExoDOS data specifically. Games in this collection are all based around a .bat file that calls DOSBox automatically (or ScummVM). The bat file will check the game is installed or just a zip file as well. In addition, when there are multiple versions or a game is really a collection, a menu will appear giving options. So I stuck with a straight "executable" pointing to the .bat file instead of the DOS based .exe file.

No problems on the blog post. I'm looking forward to trying the new version. Thank you for letting me know about the error. Unfortunately, I'm not able to reproduce the issue here, even trying with a single Donkey entry. The error sounds like a problem locating a specific xml file. I am trying to backup the LaunchBox.xml file specifically. Have you tried running it as administrator? I'll run some more tests but I will most likely need some other people to try the export first. I'm okay if you want to wait on any blog post for other people to test this export process and make sure it works.

That's okay. Anything you say would be appreciated.

No worries SantaiBrad, I thought you were very cordial considering this is the internet and all. Okay, the new version of MEAGRE is ready. Let me know if you have any problems or suggestions for this export. There are some things to note initially. 1. To export data, click on Edit in MEAGRE and select Export to Launchbox. Then browse to your LaunchBox.xml file typically located under your Documents or My Documents directory. 2. This process automatically creates a backup file "LaunchBox (MEAGRE Backup).xml" in your LaunchBox folder. 3. This is mainly intended for people with the ExoDOS collections. 4. ExoDOS is built around .bat files. As a result, the option to use DOSBox and any DOSBox settings are not exported to Launchbox. Instead, the .bat file is exported as the "executable" and will be used when running the game from LaunchBox. This means all of Exo's custom .conf files will be used. 5. I tested this using an expanded ExoDOS collection. I do not keep the games in zip format to later be extracted. That said, it should work either way as the .bat file is designed to handle this. 6. This process will copy a lot of files (about 1.5 gigs) into the Images folder in your LaunchBox directory. If you want to undo this export process, although the original LaunchBox.xml can easily be restored from the backup, the individual game folders under Images will need to be deleted manually. 7. The export will copy the media file into the screenshots folder. This allows the media image to show in the Details area of a game in LaunchBox. The process renamed the media file to xmedia.jpg as LaunchBox displays these images alphabetically. 8. Any Extras from MEAGRE will be exported as Additional Applications into LaunchBox. This means they will show in the right click menu of a game. 9. Year is not exported. MEAGRE only contains the year and not the specific date. LaunchBox is really looking for a specific release date and I didn't want to set every game to January 1st or something similar. 10. A lot of the games do not have box art. When you select the game, you will still see any screenshots in the details area but expect to see a lof of missing front images when you view the listings. 11. ExoDOS lists games with a DOS platform. So games will export into a platform called DOS when viewed within LaunchBOX 12. Images are copied over to the LaunchBox folder but nothing else is moved or copied. Meaning the manual, extras, and the game itself is all kept in the MEAGRE folder and will need to be retained of course for everything to work correctly. 13. If you export twice, you will have a duplicate of every folder under Images. LaunchBox is designed to handle this and will only show a game once but you will have a lot of extra folders under Images taking up space and the LaunchBox.xml file will contain a duplicate of every game - each with a unique UUID. ... The new version of MEAGRE can be downloaded from here: https://sites.google.com/site/meagrefrontend/download If you have not updated MEAGRE in a while, be sure to grab the full meagre.zip. When overwriting, choose not to overwrite the meagre.ini file. Although if you do, you can always run Exo's "fix meagre" bat file found in his 2.0 releases. Alternatively, you can always download the exe and change list only zip.

Thank you, Jason. I'm taking a look at the main xml file and LaunchBox's folder structure now. I see no reason why I couldn't add an export to MEAGRE to create LaunchBox compatible xml entries. I'll let the board know if I come up with something that works and release an update.
